Finally! A bright and sunny weekend to go to Hogsmead, Gavin had been waiting for one of these forever. He was starting to doubt it would come before the end of the school year… that would have been bad. He needed, like seriously needed, to get a birthday present for Anna but he really really really didn’t want to go into town in the rain. Sure, he used to do it all the time back when he was a little lad… but he was a lot more foolish then… or so he liked to believe. Anyways, what difference did that make? All that really mattered was that today, on this lovely Saturday, the sun was shining and students were allowed into town.
Anna’s birthday was the same day the Hogwarts Express rolled back into King’s Cross and much as Gavin was grateful to get to spend her birthday with her… he always felt bad eclipsing her on her big day. He always tried to make up for it with some super awesome present, something magical… but not too magical since Anna was a muggle. His whole family was muggles really, and that’s why Gavin’s coming home day was always such a big event. Jheylon, his twin brother, always had stories of football games he won and girls he went on dates with while Anna would go on and on about this science fair and that maths exam she did well in… Gavin got to tell his family all about magic!
Living in Hogwarts the students seemed to forget the wonder of their world, Gavin loved going home because it was a reminder of just how lucky he was. He mused on that while he walked the path towards the shops in the distance.

OOC:( Totally did not realize how rusty I was!)
Dear Lord! This was the only thing Vince could think when seeing the inside of the shop that Lucrecia had dragged him to. He had never been inside Madam Puddifoot's and had never wanted to either; now he knew why. This was the most horrifyingly cute place he had ever seen! There were couples, gaggles of girls, and fancy everything! His sister had dragged him here in hopes that he could meet a girl as she was hosting a group date. But alas, this was just to much for the snarky youth to take. Deciding on a course of action, Vince enacted his plan. "So what's everyone like?"[/i] he asked in a positively wondering tone. As his sister looked at the table of people, he took this chance to immediately exit the premises. As the door was swinging closed behind him he shouted "No way in h*** am I staying in there!"
'My God that was close!' thought Vince as he walked away from the tea shop. True he could stand to meet some more people and make friends, but who in their right mind hangs out there?! These thoughts were ruminating about in Vince's head just as he heard a familiar voice shout his name. He wasn't to sure, but if it were to appear in a voice bubble, there would be at least seven exclamation points after it. Seeking a place to hide from his sister's wrath, Vince saw a familiar person walking his way. He didn't know the name of the guy, but he was sure he was in Hufflepuff just like himself, so maybe he could be an ally for a moment. Rushing to him Vince was a but frantic as he talked. "I'm going to assume everyone in Hogsmeade heard that shout. That was my sister shouting for me."[/i] He took a breath before continuing with, "You have got to help me! Please?" It was the most desperate he had ever had the chance to sound in front of his peers. Then again, this wasn't the usual Vince that was anti-social. This was the Vince who was scared of the wrath of his surprisingly strong little sister.

One step and then another and the shops just got closer and closer. Gavin noticed quite suddenly he could hear the sound of the other students enjoying their day off. There was a laugh over there, a shout over here, and loudest of all some girl calling “Vincent!”. As Gavin looked toward the girl he noticed she was alone, there was no “Vincent” in sight... at that moment. Out of nowhere, however, Vincent appeared. Dude looked pathetic, it made Gavin actually quite worried about him. Here he was thinking about how much he missed his family and how excited he was to see them, when this guy was hiding from his sister screaming for him. Maybe going home wasn’t so full of glee after all. “Help you? Like in a film where the girl is trying to hide in a crowd so she tells the male lead to kiss her? Sorry man, I don’t kiss on the first date. At least not unless you buy me a butter beer first.” Then Gavin took a moment to look the guy head to toe, “Or maybe a fire whisky” he said with a laugh.

Sub-consciously Vince was mortified at sounding so desperate. Even more so when he saw the worried look in his fellow Hufflepuff's eyes. His usual self would have handled the situation with ease, making many rude remarks along the way. However his sister was his true weakness and her way of dealing with Vince was like a snake toying with a field mouse. Nobody had ever seen his sister in that state other than Vince himself, and even he wouldn't wish her anger on anyone else. He could understand the way this guy might be viewing him as of right now even though he hated it.
He listened to his possible saviors reply with trepidation and almost face palmed himself at the comparison to a movie the guy had seen. It was even more embarrassing on the second part of his reply. Strangely though, the little joke brought back some of his composure and he had to admit that it was a little funny even if it was directed at him. It even managed to make the corners of his mouth twitch which was quite a feat in itself. He sighed as he regained his normal thought patterns. " Triste mi amigo, even a fire whiskey wouldn't get me to kiss you" He tried a smile, knowing it looked strange on his face. " However if you help me, I'll buy you as many drinks as you like."
He could hear his sister's voice getting closer and he felt that he had to explain the desperation he had been portraying in his request, but he wouldn't have time to explain before she appeared. Hoping that he had temporarily gained an ally, he turned around just as Lucrecia reached the two. There she was, his fifteen year old little sister with her jet black hair tied in a ponytail, wearing an outfit one might see in an fashion catalog. A designer label blue tank top and a frilly white mini-skirt were the clothing of choice for five foot four girl. She had an angelic face, which was why most people assumed there wasn't an evil bone in her body. " Vince, why did you leave like that?!" she said in an angry tone " Do you know how much time it took to arrange that get together for you?!" So focused had she been on Vince that she hadn't noticed Gavin. Before she could notice him however, Vince took the initiative. " As I was going to tell you before, I had actually made plans to meet my friend today." he made up on the spot. " You however were to focused on getting me to meet your friends that you wouldn't listen! So I took matters into my own hands and left." His sister looked a little taken aback and finally noticed Gavin as she looked at him and asked " Is this true? Was he going to hang out with you today?" Vince prayed that he corroborated his story.

Apparently the situation wasn’t too dire Gavin noted when the boy’s lip twitched at Gavin’s joke. Gavin loved to help those in need, but not everyone really needed too much help, and others needed more than they were willing to ask for. Gavin always found a joke the best way to figure out how much help someone needed, if they were still able to smile it was okay, if they didn’t then maybe he should figure out exactly what they needed. It was a relief to see this guy smile and guess that all he needed was an out from a sticky situation rather than a call to the wizard cops on account of a domestic.
When the guy said he would buy Gavin a drink but not give him a kiss Gavin scanned his brain for the best response, would he rather go the “you don’t know what you’re missing” route or the “hey whatever mate, you came up to me” way of things? It was a tough choice because really... Gavin wasn’t entirely comfortable with the topic of kissing. He neither advertised or hid the fact that he hadn’t even kissed a girl yet; it wasn’t that girls hadn’t tried it was just that the girls he would have wanted to kiss didn’t ever try to kiss him. When it really came down to it Gavin hadn’t ever really gone on a date, he had been alone with girls plenty of times but that was because some of his school long friends were girls, not because of anything romantic. At the end of the day it didn’t really matter though as Gavin gave neither answer, instead he watched the girl charge up and confront “Vincent”.
Vincent explained something about meeting a friend that day and Gavin could only assume that was the “help” he was meant to provide, especially when the girl turned on him and asked straight up if they had plans for the day. Technically it wasn’t even a lie, Vincent had promised to buy him a drink. “Friend, me, Gavin, hello!” Gavin said to the girl with a winning smile while holding out his hand for her to shake. “I really hate to get in the way if you two had a date today,” Gavin began nodding at how lovely the girl looked, all dressed up apparently, “but Vincent did promise to buy me a drink and if all goes well the date may end up with a bit of a snog; though he has yet to convince me he’s worthy of it.” Upon noticing they were outside of the establishment ‘Madam Puddifoots’ Gavin felt the need to mention, “Not tea I am afraid, or coffee either.”
