Welcome to the Hufflepuff Quidditch Team, Ally, and thank you for your lovely audition! (enclosed below in case you haven't saved already). Please go and say hi to everyone in the team owl... it's good to have you on board!
Madam Hooch, Ally is a Chaser/Seeker and will be playing in the next match!
(Yeah. I don't really know why I'm talking to myself...)
Anyhow, here's your audition:
Name of Character: Ally Ross
House: Hufflepuff
Year: Fifth
First Desired Position: Chaser
Second Desired Position: Seeker
Ohh what are you doing, you absolute id- “Aoow!” Ally’s scolding thoughts were broken as an intruding Bludger slammed into her knee with a force that jarred through her leg, a force that made the Hufflepuff think her limb now useless. But a quick kick told her it was fine- if not a little bruised- and she forced herself through the air once more. This was a stupid idea. Sure, she enjoyed playing Quidditch rather a lot. Being in the air on her borrowed broom had made her feel almost invincible in Quidditch lessons. It made her leave her worries and troubles down on the ground. Of course they would latch back onto her the moment her feet hit the grass again, but until then she was alone in the sky. At least in lessons she was. This was like a real game; with Bludgers and other players, with obstacles and opponents that held fierce expressions and whispered of pain and failure.
Idiot, idiot, idiot… Ally continued to mutter the words in her head as a Beater on her team, an elder student who was still nameless to her forgetful head, only just managed to keep her from getting hit by another Bludger. The Beater threw a doubtful glance at Ally and she gulped twice, gripping her broom tightly between her white freckled knuckles. She let go only to tuck a strand of red hair behind her ears – and then she saw the Quaffle. It was loose in the air. Beautiful, bright and alone in the air, the ball seemed to drop in slow-motion. Ally saw the other players twisting on their brooms to shoot towards it; but it was coming to her. Slowly it drifted down, and for a moment Ally was tempted to turn and run – or rather fly – away. Off the pitch, away from the people and the crowded air.
But it was falling quicker now, and she had no time to run away; it was close, too. In fact so close she could probably…
“Yes!” In a quick movement with reflexes she didn’t even know she possessed, Ally had snatched the Quaffle out of the air – and she hadn’t just stopped there. She sped off towards the goal posts eagerly, flying almost blindly against the wind. “Aaaah!” The yelp shot out of her mouth before she even realised it had been pushing at her lips. She had the Quaffle, now what? She didn’t trust herself to shoot. Looking around desperately she finally realised that she wasn’t alone. Her team members were in place and she could see her captain, bright and bold in yellow, in such a perfect place. With a grin Ally realised that Quidditch was only scary when it was her alone in the sky with opponents; but in a game she wouldn’t be alone. She had a team with her. With a force she barely realised she had in her, Ally pushed the Quaffle from her towards Ivy, hopefully just in time, before grasping hands attempted to steal.
