Viv requested that I explain the 12 hour Bludger rule to her so I thought that I'd put it up as a general owl in case anyone else wants to read. It is more relevant for anyone who's posting as Hooch and isn't hugely important for anyone else, even Beaters. Don't worry if you don't get it! Of course those of us posting Hooch can make mistakes at times so if you understand it, you can check that we are doing the right thing. Also, a canny Beater may even make tactical use of this rule! So feel free to read if you'd like to. Here goes. ------------------------------------------------- The 12-Hour Bludger RuleIf a Bludger attack is made in the first 12 hours after Hooch's post, it takes effect that round. I.e. Even if no Beater posts defending against the Bludger attack, Madam Hooch will roll that round to see whether the player the attack is made on manages to dodge it. However, if a Bludger attack is made after the first 12 hours of a round, it is possible that opposition Beaters living in different time zones may not have time to defend against it within that round. Therefore to make things fair: A Bludger attack made in the second half of the round will not necessarily be rolled that round.-It will be rolled that round if a Beater posts defending against it. -If no Beater posts defending against it that round, it will be rolled in the next round. ------------------------------------------- Feel free to ask questions if you don't understand.

Thanks, Izy. Could I also point out there that if you post in a match saying 'will edit later' but don't do it by the end of the 24-hour round, it still pays to go back and edit it even though your action will have been invalid for that round, because when it comes to counting up how many times your player posted during the match for your experience points, we cannot include those you did not edit!

I go back and delete them (and reset post counts too) before I count up experience points.

Beaters: please remember that you can deflect Bludgers when you defend so when you post defending, remember to specify who you wish to deflect to. I've noticed that many people keep forgetting this. ^^;;
