Williard Thoth and Kellan Caoimhe are cousins, though no one at Hogwarts has any knowledge of their kinship; mainly due to a hatred that Kellan has been carrying for his cousin for about four years now, and still counting. Williard; the hardworking, motivated, intelligent Ravenclaw from whom everyone expects great things, and Kellan; the
loud mouthed, rude, and thoroughly lazy Hufflepuff who prefers to keep a low profile, from whom people only hope to merely graduate on time and get a decent job. The two have an arrangement of sorts in place. While at school, Williard is to acknowledge Kellan's existence in no way whatsoever; while at Hogwarts, Williard is to act as if he doesn't even have a cousin, and Kellan will happily do the same. But a situation arises in the form of Dylan Caoimhe, and Williard can't help but bend his agreement with Kellan. What starts out as a simple case of pure curiosity quickly turns into a situation that completely shatters Williard's world and rattles Kellan's and Dylan's.

Fresh from a humiliating defeat against Slytherin in what was the very first Quidditch match of the season as well as Williard's career, he glumly visits the Qudditch Pitch the next day in order to get some badly needed practice in; mainly because his performance in the game had been rubbish. But little did he know, he would be joined by one of his opponents from the previous day; Slytherin Vice Captain, Dylan Caoimhe, who even runs a training session with Williard, leaving him feeling a bit more confident about his abilities. But, Williard also finds out a piece of information that ingrains itself into his head, sparking his curiosity. (Winter '00/Williard Thoth, Dylan Caoimhe)
After contemplating ever since meeting Dylan the previous day, Williard finally gets up the courage to talk to his cousin Kellan, who all but welcomes Williard when he tries to tell him about Dylan. Livid with Williard after disrupting their agreement, Kellan storms out of the Student Lounge. After Williard steps in and tries to stop something that could lead to a potentially bad situation for his cousin, Kellan responds by shoving Williard down in the floor, leaving Williard more saddened by his relationship with his cousin than ever. Today is the day that everyone is scheduled to go home for Christmas Holiday. Williard, still bothered by the incident the other night, manages to find a little joy in the thought of seeing his parents again. Dylan on the other hand, has very different plans for his break. Instead of going back to the orphanage, he's going to work at the Leaky Cauldron to make a little money, and he'll be spending Christmas alone, until Williard makes a bold offer. (Winter '00/Williard Thoth, Dylan Caoimhe)
Dylan just finishes a long first day working at the Leaky Cauldron for Christmas Holiday and while everything new to him is slightly difficult, all in all the day goes smoothly; he even receives the tips of a lazy co-worker who Tom, the owner of the Leaky Cauldron, fires. Dylan retires to bed, but has a weird feeling which ultimately leads him to be unable to sleep though he is extremely tired. He decides to get up and walk around London, grateful for not being stuck at his orphanage for another year. (Winter 00'/Dylan Caoimhe/appearance by Tom, the owner of the Leaky Cauldron)
The Caoimhe's and the Thoth's have their traditional Winter dinner one week before Christmas as always. Already in a bad mood, Kellan is uncooperative with his mother, and isn't trying to make the evening a positive experience for anyone; especially Williard. After a series of attacks on his cousin from throwing punch on him, to pushing him into a counter, Kellan's father Gavin gets upset and decides that something must be done about his son's behavior. Ptah brings Williard and Sarah along for a trip to the Leaky Cauldron. He's going in order to meet a friend, but he also wants to spend a little time there to reminisce with Sarah; it's been a while since the two have actually sat down and had a drink there. Tom, the pub owner, is delighted to see them, and immediately tries to catch up with his old friends, but distractions arise and he has to go and deal with them, leaving Dylan to serve the Thoth's their drinks. Dylan is unaware that Williard is even there, and Williard, while he knew that Dylan would be working during break, is unaware that Dylan was working there at the Leaky Cauldron and is all too excited when he sees his older "friend." So much happens in quick succession, and Dylan is left with another Christmas Dinner invitation, but this time, it's from Ptah, and he insists. Kellan is as low as he's been in a while, and it doesn't help when he finds out that his father wishes that he wasn't his son, and someone who he really cares about attempts to influence his life in the worse way imaginable. But, Kellan refuses to take this new discovery lying down. He will take revenge in the worst way; when he discovers exactly what that way is anyway. (Winter 00'/Kellan Caoimhe/Featuring Gavin Caoimhe and Mairi Caoimhe)
