"There's a fine line between love and hate."
[glow=teal,2,300]Starring...[/glow]
The ever exclusive, Italian/Spanish Cavalieri gang (Headed by the Mercianos):
Hector Miguel Merciano - 67, Gryffindor : Edward James Olmos. [NPC] the big boss. Leader of the Cavalieri family and the head of the Merciano house.
Santino Merciano - 37, Slytherin : Enrique Murciano. [NPC] Hector Miguel’s son. Next in line for the job of the head honcho.
Marissa Merciano - 37, Ravenclaw : Roselyn Sanchez. [NPC] Santino’s missing wife. She was the money smuggling master, but now that she’s gone missing, Hector Miguel has lost what could easily be one of his strongest players. The blame for her disappearance has been placed on the Hemingway family of course. Whether they really are guilty of the crime is unclear.
Gabriella Merciano - 23, Ravenclaw : Charisma Carpenter. Best selling author. Single mother to a three year old boy. (Ty Panitz) Was engaged and in love, but was dumped after her husband found out her secret. He was later killed on her grandfather’s orders. He knew too much. She’s made the vow, but hopes that by avoiding her family, she can avoid following through with her commitment.
Nico Merciano - 19, Gryffindor : Steven Straight. Santino’s nephew. Orphan. He fell in love with a Hemingway. It didn’t work out. Now he’s confined to his own home until he makes the vow. If he chooses not to, he’ll be killed. The only one to ever be forced into the Cavalieri family.
Angela Merciano - 17, Slytherin 6th : Nikki Reed. The very devoted daughter. She hates all things Hemingway and can’t wait to get out of Hogwarts. Very close to her little sister, tries to get her to toughen up. Has a soft spot for charmers, sweet talkers, and romantic men. It’s her one true weakness, though she refuses to admit it.
Isabella Merciano - 14, Ravenclaw 4th : Masiela Lusha. The sweetheart, the innocent bystander. She’s young and her family hopes that eventually, she will get that famed Merciano attitude.
The Ancient and Territorial England’s Entourage gang (headed by the Hemingways):
Luciana Hemingway - 37, Slytherin : Drew Barrymore. [NPC] The witchy widow. Her husband died, and now she’s the big boss of the Entourage. She tries hard to gain respect, but knows her eldest son will one day overpower her. She’s not exactly looking forward to that, but for now she’s doing very well as the owner of the “family business.”
Benajmin Hemingway - deceased : Hugh Laurie. [NPC] Died seven years ago. Despite him being the head of drug and illegal gem trade across the country prior to his death, he was a very nice guy. He was killed by Santino Merciano, and his remaining family are driven by spite and vengeful hate to avenge his death.
Dustin Hemingway - 24, Gryffindor : Drew Fuller. Ex Quidditch player. Lives for sports and girls. Your typical player. Doesn’t care much for “the family”. Because of his early acceptance into his professional Quidditch team, he never made the vow. He is greatly needed, but tries to keep his distance so his family can’t guilt him into doing it.
Damara Hemingway - 16, Slytherin 6th : Cintia Dicker. The sweetheart turned bitter. She used to be sweet and kind, but after her father died and her Merciano lover was taken from her (her parents never found out about the affair, thankfully) she turned sour. She’s all about the England’s Entourage now, and plans to first kill her evil dorm mate and enemy Angela Merciano, become an Auror to make sure her family is also represented in the Ministry, as well as continue to organize jewel heists with her mother for the Entourage.
Vincent Hemingway - 13, Hufflepuff 3rd : Josh Hutcherson. He loved his father dearly and hates the Mercianos from taking him from him, but he has no idea about the drug cartels and thievery his family is involved in. His family purposely works very hard to keep that part of their life from him until he is ready.
[glow=teal,2,300]The Conflict...[/glow]
The Mercianos and the Hemingways are two very powerful, not to mention controversial families. The Mercianos are like royalty to the “Cavalieri Family”, which is basically the exact definition of your cliché mob. Those who are bound to the Cavalieri (by the notorious Unbreakable Vow) have no problem with stealing and smuggling, killing when necessary, and deceiving all those around them. They are criminals by definition, but most of them go into the family by choice. Whatever their reason may be, the leaders of the Cavalieri family (the Mercianos of course) want to make it clear that most of their devoted members give up their lives and souls by choice. In truth, it’s a very tempting offer. Hector-Miguel, the head of both the small Merciano family as well as the entire Cavalieri gang promises that each member and their families be protected and taken care of for the rest of their lives. The Cavalieri do not call themselves a family for nothing. As long as a member is ‘loyal’, the perks of being in such a group are undeniable. However, these perks come with a price. Most choose to ignore this price like it is not there, but like the perks, the costs are undeniable as well. Most people are under the impression that those who could ever be involved in such a criminal group are crazy or stupid, but some have no choice. Anyone born into the Merciano family is practically a Cavalieri member at birth. Innocent children, little girls and boys are raised under the principals of the Cavalieri and by the time they are out of school and the time has come, the only obvious answer is yes. Of course, over the decades that this gang has been in existence there have been a few that were reluctant to accept such traditions. However, what choice did they have? These Merciano children have the worst choice of them all. Other Cavalieri members who are not of Merciano blood can either say yes and make the vow, or return to whatever decrepit life they lived before being faced with the choice to join. However, the Merciano children have a much harder decision to make. Either they join or be faced with exile. They would have to find a way to make their life work on their own without the support of their loved ones. Not to mention these children spent their childhood in mansions with more gold in their little pockets than most of their friends’ parents made in a week. They barely worked a day in their lives. How could they be expected to stand on their own? These reasons were more than enough to ensure that out of the countless years of Cavalieri existence, there was never a Merciano that rebelled against their parents and chose the life of exile.
Now, meet the Hemingways. Much like the Mercianos, the Hemingways are the cornerstones of an equally powerful European gang. However, there are two huge differences. One is that while the Mercianos pride themselves in their Italian/Spanish (as in strictly from Spain and Italy, no other ethnicities accepted) descent; the Hemingway family are the leaders of a gang that literally means the protectors of mother England. The Hemingways lead a gang of mostly British men and women that call themselves England’s Entourage. The Hemingways are strictly British, though others from the United Kingdom are loosely accepted into the Entourage, though they are not trusted with the big jobs for the most part. The deal with the Hemingways is much the same as with the Mercianos, with the one exception that they are ancient rivals. They too use the Unbreakable vow to ensure their members’ loyalty and they commit quite the same crimes that are committed by the Cavalieri gang. This is one of their main reasons for conflict. Tragically of course, it is not the only one. There are many. The ancient English Entourage/Cavalieri feud has been going on for close to a century now. No one knows exactly how it began, but over the years, the hatred for one another has only gotten stronger. The Mercianos are not far too happy with living in Britain when there are so many Entourage members in their midst, but they find that living there is convenient. In Britain, the business is the best, the law is somewhat easier to sneak around, and the school system is much more impressive for the education of future Cavalieri children. The Entourage’s main goal is not only get the Cavalieri “scum” off Mother England’s land, but to find a way to ensure they never returned. This hasn’t happened yet, so the Merciano and Hemingway children are forced to learn in the same environment as their sworn enemies for seven long years until they can graduate and make the vow to formally join their respective gangs. So far, the feud has caused minimal trouble in Hogwarts School. The children of each family know that they must be discreet about their hatred for the opposing family if they want to keep their parents out of Azkaban. Many of the children in the past generation have been home schooled to avoid confrontation, but the parents of this generation have decided to put a stop to that trend. The Hemingways hope that in sending their children to live amongst some of the Merciano children, the Hemingway kids will be able to get a little peek as to what the opposing side is up to. These children are taught to hate at a very young age. As if house separations at Hogwarts weren’t enough, most of these kids are blinded by their hate to make any sort of real friends. Adolescents and teenagers involved in the feud find themselves plotting the future demise of their classmates. But what is to happen when a few “bad seeds” refuse to harbor such a hate? As both gangs grow dangerously close to exposure to the Ministry and family member after family member goes either missing or dead, it gets harder and harder still to drill the hatred into the heads of the children. What could possibly result from so many decades of hatred and prejudice now that the reign of gang wars may finally be coming to a close? Is it even possible to save these kids from themselves and family at this point?
