After a short courtship, Cassandra Blackfire and Julian Fallon are married at the Golden Wand, a large casino in Knockturn Alley. The couple chooses to remain married after their honeymoon in Italy. Cass finds out she is pregnant shortly before they leave for Hogwarts, and she dumps the news on Julian while they are on the train. Julian, shocked from the news, solidifies their relationship before the beginning of term feast by telling Cass he still loves her. Olivia Dawson, Julian’s former girlfriend, assails Julian on his way to the Slytherin common room. Julian rebuffs her advances. Angry, Olivia vows to break apart Cassandra and Julian. Cass’ friendship with Finn Miles continues to grow. Rumors run rampant about the Fallon’s shotgun marriage, and many surmise that Julian’s wild ways have finally caught up with him. Olivia begins to enact her plan to break up Julian’s marriage by befriending Cassandra. Pyro Blackfire, Cass’ cousin and only living blood relative, is shocked at the news of her marriage. Mikayla Moon, Cassandra’s good friend, begins to suspect what is wrong with her friend. Cassandra tells Pyro, Mikayla, Finn, and Olivia about her pregnancy in the Great Hall. Cassandra decides not to return to Hogwarts after the holidays because of her pregnancy. After a fight on Christmas Eve, Cassandra is kidnapped by goblins. Pyro blames Julian for the whole incident. With only videotaped clues for guidance, Julian and Cass’ friends go on the hunt to find her. The friends must navigate the muggle world to find Cass. They find Cass a week later in an abandoned barn outside of Birmingham, England. They rush Cass to St. Mungos. There, they discover that she has lost the baby. It as if it had been ripped from her womb. The Fallon’s return to Hogwarts, and Cassandra falls into a deep depression. Cass becomes extremely brash and reckless. The newlywed couple begins to slowly drift apart. Julian begins to depend on Olivia more and more as he watches Cassandra drift out of control. Cassandra is then drafted to the Holyhead Harpies, an all female professional quidditch team. Julian has been asked by his father to continue their family business. Julian convinces Cassandra that they can still salvage their relationship. Reluctant, Cass agrees that all is not lost between them.
With their graduation from Hogwarts’ approaching, what will happen to Cass and Julian? Will an old flame of Julian’s re-enter the picture? Will Julian have a rival for Cass’ affections? Can Cass bounce back from her trauma?
