"To be or not to be" or some other cliche

I've had this idea rolling around in my head for a while and am not really sure how it would work. The history behind the idea... well basically I recently (or not so recently as my family likes to remind me ) graduated from college. My major was theatre. I am a theatre fanatic. I am currently involved with a company called Theatre Group and I work with a company called Acting Up! during the summers which is theatre for teenagers. It bothers me that there is no drama club at 4Houses. I have been told that once upon a time there was something like that on 4Houses but no one seems to know what became of it. I want to start a drama club.

Now I once upon a time asked the staff what was required to start a club and they gave me about eight steps to follow. Not really, I'm exaggerating.

1. Contact a staffie with your idea (whoops! I'll PM one of them)
2. Get interest (that's what I'm trying to do with this post)
3. Make a list of club rules/objectives/responsibilities
4. Ask staff if it's okay

I guess, I'm not really looking for a defined group/club like Drew's band or BBBS. It would just be a group of charries that are connected through their love of theatre.

What am I trying to say? What am I trying to say?

I want to start this plot/club/group but other than their love for theatre, they don't have to interact. It would be nice to put on a play but I'm not really sure how that would work in a setting like this...

I know this sounds corny but I want the charries for this idea to be related to Shakespeare in some way. For instance my character for this idea is going to be Lysander (Shane Kippel). Lysander is one of the lovers from A Midsummer Night's Dream. So the names of the characters that are related to this idea would be names of Shakespeare characters.

SO if this makes any sense to you and you like the idea or you might like it but you need clarification let me know! Or if you have an idea how to make this mess better. Either reply to this post or PM me on Wynd or August.

Or 'once more unto the breach' of staff's oppressive tyranny, it sounds like! As far as I remember, we wanted to ensure that we would have some way of stemming a feared outbreak of mini Death Eater clubs. For a fairly simple concept for a club, it should hopefully be a fairly uncomplicated process though. Complain if it isn't.

I think that a drama club (and, indeed, a play!) sounds like a great idea. I don't think that I can offer any characters since I don't think any of them have any acting talent (taking after me), but for what it's worth, I fully endorse it. *cheerful grin*

I would volunteer Riley for it since she seems like she'd be the acting type and there's not much going on for her, but her name has absolutely no connection with Shakespeare. If she could still be part of it, that would be cool. If not, I could always offer up Olivia. (Twelfth Night. One of my favorites by him )

So my first choice for this whole thing is Riley, but if that can't happen then I'd be perfectly fine with Olivia.

Olivia - That wasn't really a requirement it was just a thought I had for any new characters that would be created specifically for this... 'thing.' Riley would be fine. I really like Twelfth Night also.

That's at least two interested. I was giving this some more thought and for this 'group' we would need people to fill the following positions:

1. Director
2. Stage Manager
3. Actors
4. Stage Crew (or as I love to call them, techies, but I have heard that the word offends some)

Of course there can be as many actors or stage crew as there are grains of sand but it would be great if we could designate someone 'director' and someone else 'stage manager.' I should also poke some of the professors and see if they would be willing to sponsor. Hmm...

Ariane - no. For obvious reasons!
Aurora - no. She's got stage-fright, kinda wouldn't work, lol.
Harmony - no. Too shy. Not charismatic or confident.
India - no. Ditto Ari, lol.
Theo - well... he'd do it. But it's not his forte, I would say.
Seth - ahahaha. Imagine Seth acting. It's just not happening.
Leah - no. Much too reserved and shy.
Heidi - not at Hogwarts any more; otherwise she'd be a good option for me.

As you can see, my charries, like Izy's, also seem to take after me in that I despise acting and so on. My best offer on 4Houses is Theo. I have other charries, in fact, that are actors, but they live in my head, and only there can they be as charismatic as they like, ahaha. I'm a bit dubious about offering Theo, since he's already got a dance thing, etc, but I'd like to get involved, and so if you would consider him as not one of the main contributors to the club, but a regular member, I'd be happy to be part of the group.

I think Finn would enjoy something like this. He'd be best suited for an actor (well, not that he's a great actor, but that'd be the job he'd be most interested in doing). Let me know if you want him or not.

I read this and immediately wanted Ruth to get in on it. :3 Like you, I'm part of an acting group inside and outside of my school and we group in the holidays for special courses. Although I've had to miss the last few Saturdays I really enjoy it. ^^

Ruth can be quite bossy and won't really speak unless she feels the need to. I'd rather she did some acting. (: She'd be adamant with remembering lines perfectly. Ruth keeps to herself a lot , but I see her as someone who can completely take on the role of a new character and be confident easily if the new role demands it. So yes, Ruth is definitely in. She can keep an eye on Theo for Oscar...

I'm glad to see a good response. I thought I would write this and then the post would be dead for a while and then I would bump it and then it would be dead again.... but that's not what happened! ;D

Hmm.. I guess I should collect my thoughts on what I want to accomplish with the group. Someday I would love to put on a play but have no idea how that would be done in this forum.

Ryoko, Riley, Theo, Finn, Ruth. Anyone else? There is no limit to members.

Well I've gotten a lot of recent Olivia inspiration, and I think she'd be one damn good actress. But just one question.

Both Olivia and Riley are avid Quidditch players. Olivia is kind of angry with her team at the mo', so I wouldn't be surprised to see her lose interest and quit in the near future. But Riley would definitely be on the team the entire year. Would this club interfere with their Quidditch season?
