I have no clue how that's a stationary utensil, or even an inanimate object, but oh well, it beats all those boring things!

Yeah, i must say, i prefer pens.

Although penguins [And i was meaning the animal] are also rather cool.
how they are a stationery utensil baffles me, but oh well.

Playing the devil's advocate once again...I like Pencils much better than pens. I like to doodle if I'm writing and pencils are great for that, it's just unfortunate that it doesn't last forever like pens.

Pens dont last forever

When NASA first started sending up astronauts, they quickly discovered that ballpoint pens would not work in zero gravity. To combat the problem, NASA scientists spent a decade and $12 billion to develop a pen that writes in zero gravity, upside down, underwater, on almost any surface including glass and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to 300 C. The Russians used a pencil.

Rubbers are my favourite piece of stationery, but they're not on the list. I think a pencil is often better when a rubber is involved, but if you don't have a rubber then you might as well use pen... pencils make that scratchy noise when you write which I find either satisfying or annoying depending on my mood.
