You know, I love a good musical just as much as the next person, but Wicked didn't do it for me. I feel as though I am the only person who feels that way. I love the music. I think the music is amazing. In fact I met Stephen Schwartz before the musical went to Broadway when he was work shopping it in San Francisco. He sang the "Wizard and I" for us, it was amazing. But when I saw it, I wasn't impressed. Maybe because I work in a theatre that has no money but does fine productions but has no audience. But these shows that come through the main towns can sell out music halls that hold 5,000 or more. Sure, there was a lot of smoke and mirrors and it looked fantastic but that is because they had a high budget. It just makes me upset that people will pay hundreds of dollars to see a touring show but then turn around and won't support local theatre even though it is cheaper. I'm not trying to say that you're like that, Jazz. I'm just venting. Sorry to ramble like that. I'm very happy that you enjoyed the show. Like I said, I love the music. ;D My fav songs are "Defying Gravity" and "Dancing Through Life." Perhaps why I didn't enjoy it was I didn't want to. It's a topic I feel very passionate about because the Broadway shows are doing fine but theatre as a whole in the States is dying. I don't want to see it go.

I first heard about Wicked last year about three monthes before i saw it. It was thanks to my theatre teacher. She got me some music from the production and i was hooked. I also read the book. Finally i saw the play. I wish i hadn't heard the music and read the book. It would have made it so much better for my veiwing. But it was still very good. I perfer the play to the book :]
