Okay, I know this is a Harry Potter website, but I was wondering if anybody went out and got Breaking Dawn? I hate to say it, but I'm extremely disappointed.

I was waiting until someone would start a Twilight board. I've never read them, but 'OMG BD IS OUT TONIGHT' was flying around every site I know yesterday. ^^ Lynden/Elsie Covens loves the series so she'll jump on this board when she gets home tomorrow. POSSIBLE MASSSIVEEE SPOILER BELOW! someone posted a thread (they were banned afterwards) saying the main male vamp died on page 509 or something? is that what you were disappointed about? :]

Don't feel bad Viv, I still have to read them as well. I hadn't even heard of them until Cassandra told me about them the other day..I guess when I'm done with the two books that I have now to read from a different series (The Vampire Huntress Legend by L.A. Banks [it's an adult fiction series, younger readers need to make sure that their parents are okay with them reading it and I'm not suggesting it to anyone under the age of 16]) I'll get started on that series

I didn't jump on here, I just kind of hopped and skidded xD
Very long book, good ending, suspenseful, but the first book is still my favorite.
WHICH MEANS YOU ALL HAVE TO READ IT BEFORE THE MOVIE COMES OUT.

I'm just gonna copy and paste what I wrote on another board: highlight to read.
I actually finished this today, but last night I went to sleep thinking up what I would type because (even though I hoped it would get better) I knew it would end with me going "well, wtf?"
That being said here's my opinion. Possible spoilers, not quite sure yet lol.
I do believe this book was... in most part... a lot of filler. I don't think Stephenie really planned out exactly what would happen past Bella being turned. I mean, that's what the fans wanted. A marriage and a vampire-Bella. So, if she just handed that to them on a silver platter... then what? I mean, it could have been so much easier for Stephenie to say "Edward turned Bella, Bella became immortal, the Vortuli were okay with it, the end." But would there be a story? Hell no.
However, I did not enjoy the whole Renesmee thing. I think that was because, in all honesty, it did seem kinda out of touch? Just completely wrong. It bothered me more that she grew so damn fast, that Bella was stupid enough to let that damn baby harm her, and that Jacob imprinted on her (however, that changed when I really started to believe he didn't feel about her in a romantic sense).
I thought Bella as even more Mary-Sueish in this book. I mean, really, WTF? She first lost all shyness around Edward on the island, then she survived Renesmee's birth just fine, then she was this like super newborn vamp that skipped the whole newborn process and was absolutely marvellous, and then SHE was the reason the Vortuli turned around?! Whatever. That credit goes to Alice, and her showing up with that one guy whose name I can't even pronounce much less write.
Leading into that, I do believe that scene was probably my favourite. I like the whole way it was dealt with, Aro and Caius arguing and whatnot. I liked that the ancient order was actually shone in the wrong. I like that Alice returned. I liked that everything that she did made sense. That didn't seem unplanned in the least, it actually seemed like it took most of Stephenie's plotting than the rest of the book did.
The ending, though, made me really happy. While it tied into Bella being even more Mary-Sueish, I liked that she finally learnt a way to let Edward into her thoughts. It was a nice gift, something that I would have enjoyed had I been him.
Over all, it was a decent read. Her writing style had improved quite a bit. But as for plot and character direction? It really did suck. It was too long and held nothing in it as far as I am concerned.
*shrugs* My sister will enjoy it, as will countless others, and I think that's what counts.
With that being said, I didn't like it. The second book is still my favourite and I think Stephenie's writing is absolute crap in this series. If you want to see how well she can possibly write, I suggest reading her other book: The Host. Its pretty damn good and I enjoyed it much more than any of the Twilight books.

I agree with you Dixie...on everything about the last book.
Personally...First person perspective writing is not something I enjoy. I think the first two books were better than the last two...I just wish there had been more sustenance to the writing and I wish there hadn't been pointless chapters. I felt she was just trying to go for a certain page number as opposed to content. Less is more...especially in this case and the last book was absolutely dreadful to try to sit through...I didn't think I'd ever get through it.
