So, yet another thread of asking about universities far far FAR away from America! Currently, I am enrolled as a sophomore (2nd year student) in my American university. I just recently changed schools, but I have always had a dream to study abroad. With my best friend, who just came back from her study abroad program-- I am set on trying to go. Despite the DRASTIC amount of money I will have to somehow gather up.... I want to study abroad! And for those who know me, I am quite the determined girl. If I want something I try my hardest to get it. (maybe you can see that in some of my characters ) Well, in a program called AIFS (American Institute For Foreign Study) they have quite a few study abroad programs such as England, Ireland, Poland, Spain, France... etc. I have always wanted to go to England or Ireland-- however, I think I might want to go to Ireland a bit more. But the lucky part is- I can always take a trip to England if I choose! haha. But, what this is all about is---- does anyone know ANYTHING about the University of Limerick? It would be the university I would be enrolling in if I do actually gather up all of the money and the guts to go halfway across the world alone. If you know anything about the university, or another study abroad program, or any other school that accepts applicants to study abroad from-- please, write it down. It would be a great help for this American Dreamer.

I guess it must be in the Republic of Ireland (as opposed to Northern Ireland, which is part of the UK) because I've never heard of it, sorry. The only one I know of - that is certainly good - in the RoI is Dublin. But I'm afraid I can't tell you much about Irish universities; although some of them are good then I didn't research them at all as I'm not adventurous enough to want to be separated from home by a body of water! (I admire you for being so much more adventurous).

Thanks Ivy. It's more of a need than a want. I adore my family, but I'm at that age where I want to experience all I can. My first year in college I lived only about an hour away from home at my campus. My second year (this year), I live at home. I am not adverse to the idea of staying, but I can just feel my heartstrings being pulled in another direction. And studying abroad has always been a dream of mine; mainly since one I graduate from college I will be working my job fulltime- and wont have time for travel. So, I need to get this stuff done while I can! lol www.ul.ie/there is the website to the university. Does anyone live in Ireland on here? I don't think I am aware if someone is.
