Thanks for sharing, Adam & Ezzie. *huggles Ezzie* Thanks. It helps to know I'm not the only one who has that habit. It makes it worse for me because my mum is the exact opposite - she does things IMMEDIATELY. Like, she'll get a project and she'll do it straight away. And I just can't do that. I always leave it to the last second, get scared, blunder my way through it, then feel guilty because my mum will yell at me and my quality of work could be better. It's a cycle that's been going on for... at least a year, maybe two, but I haven't been counting. I don't know what's wrong with me. I really thought for a while there was something fundamentally wrong with my make-up. Maybe I came out wrong. People seem to be able to work, so why can't I? But I can't, and I have been living this... nightmare of sorts when it comes to work. And things like allergies suck. I have Hayfever. And man, that sucks.

Okies, another song I must share. (Totally an Aurora song about her first love.) My favourite lines are highligted.
There's Us - Alexz Johnson
There's me Looking down at my shoes The one smiling like the sun That's you What were you thinking What was the song inside your head There's us Going on about a band Working out how we play our hand I lay there dreaming Later all alone in my bed
If I was stupid Maybe careless So were you
Not everything is supposed to come true Some words are best unsaid Some love is not really love at all I'll keep everything I shared with you And that's enough There's us
Freeze-frame I'm not about to cry It's too late for us to change Why try I've got a camera Tucked away inside my heart
If I'm a loser Or just unlucky So are you
Not everything is supposed to come true Some words are best unsaid Some love is not really love at all I'll keep everything I shared with you And that's enough There's us
Somewhere between then and now I look away when you said we'll never change And if you think what might have been You'll lose today and we've got songs to play
Not everything is supposed to come true Some words are best unsaid Some love is not really love at all I'll keep everything I shared with you And that's enough There's us Not everything is supposed to come true Some words are best unsaid Some love is not really love at all I'll keep everything I shared with you And that's enough There's us

I have to download them soon, hahaha. I love 2 a.m., btw. Just love it. I've only got the first two series' albums though, plus I Don't Know If I Should Stay, one of my favourite songs of all time.

She has a new solo album coming out sometime this fall. The music on it is fantastic, so much better than the music she did for Instant Star. My favourite album from IS is definitely the second. The third album is a compiliation and she doesn't sing half the songs on there. The fourth is the same way. So, I would just download those songs if you want them sung by Alexz.

Righty, thanks! I know about the solo album, and I can't wait to hear it. I love Alezx, I really do. I love her songs and her voice - well, most of her songs. The second album is overall the best, but a lot of my favourites are on the first, like Skin, Fall to Pieces, That Girl, Time To Be Your 21, Criminal, Eyes... XD The others I'm not keen on. And I've never even watched the show! XD

I absolutely love Alexz's songs. I only recently started watching the show for the final season and I loved it. But I am so glad the first week of school is finally over. I've already completed like three essays and there's no telling what the next week will bring... But anyway, Now that I have some free time on my hands, I think I'm going to try and get my posts out of the way. But how was everyone else's first week?

Post by Leah Matthews R7 on Sept 5, 2008 20:39:52 GMT
Using Leah's account, because she's new and is bursting to be written, but I can't due to being busy. Gah. Well, my first day was... I wouldn't say awful per se, but it wasn't great. I was excited first thing in the morning at seeing Izy and co., but the excitement died down a little after that. It wasn't altogether too bad, though having brought no notes to my psychology and history lessons, I spent the afternoon lazing around and doing jack. Good thing was I saw my new timetable and I much prefer it to last years; plus there are more frees since dropping English language. I have the same frees as my best friend because she dropped it too, and I even have frees with Izy! Lol! Second day was actually pretty awful. The morning went like a slug. I swear I've never had such a slow morning. I managed to do some work in my psychology lesson, which I am immensely proud of, because usually I sit at the computer and go on 4Houses. XD Then it was another free, which I posted Theo in for Oscar. Then we had a pointless General Studies lesson with a teacher I find a little intimidating and gets frustrated too easily by uncleanliness and students' attitudes. Lunch was nice though, and I played cards with Izy and co. It was nice to hang out with my friends from the year below. Afternoon, I had an English literature lesson, in which I discovered I still loved the subject. I find this new teacher a little boring and frustrating, but she's lovely and I think I'll get on with her well. After that I had a free with my best friend; we went to Starbucks and sat and talked until my mum came to get me. I spent the evening, though, working my butt off on a history essay I hadn't done in the holidays, only for the teacher today to say she didn't need it till Monday. I don't mind though, because at least this means I've done it and it's out of the way. I do want to polish it up though. But yeah, that took the entire night after surfing 4Houses, so I was really tired by the time I went to bed late. I've been feeling pretty worn out today. Today was a good day. Fridays I will love from now on. I had history first, which was when I was told about the unnecessary essay. I still have another piece of work I need to do from that, but because I was literally the only one prepared after the summer, I felt quite proud I knew what the teacher was rambling about, lol. I then had psychology. Today I didn't do any work because I was trying to get this presentation for next week done for the school magazine. I plan on working on my psychology this weekend. Went to lunch, talked to one of my English literature teachers from last year, who reassured me that despite everything I was capable of doing the subject at university, before dashing to choir, making most of the rehearsal and didn't miss anything because I already know the song and felt very accomplished, lol. Had the entire afternoon off, yay! So my best friend and I did some work - I finished off that presentation. Went to see my English referee teacher at some point, and she helped me agree on doing English literature, and I can now start my personal statement, and I even have universities I've decided on! Then I posted Theo the moment I got back until school ended, and my mum drove my friends and I to Ken's school where the mixed choir was meeting (and meets every Friday). It was auditions today, but we did some singing. I met some nice people, but their energy wore me down and OK, I'm tired of relating now, lol. Basically today was a good, but tiring day, and I currently want to sleep. XD I may post before I sleep. I'm too knackered to do work! ><

I love reading about people's days. X]
Mine? Weeellll. Started school again on Wednesday, so have had three days. My form tutor of four years left at the end of last year, so we met our new one. :K He's uhh... alright, I guess. Just a bit of an arrogant idiot. Then, after taking two periods to sort out coursework timetables and deadlines with him, had a few lessons. English was hilarious; my teacher's crazy, which is sometimes good and sometimes not at all nice. But she gave us ten minutes (ahhh!) to come up with a 90-second talk/act/anything else, going through the entire timeline of events in The Turn of the Screw. No-one remembered what happened... so everyone made it up. Luckily she found our versions of the ghost-story funny too. :]
Thursday, yesterday, was a little boring. Met our new German teacher- our German was initially taught by our 4-yr form tutor. The new one isn't bad. But he has a really hairy back. |:
And today- today was full of triple games. ¬_¬ IN THE POURING RAIN. None of us had correct kit, but our sports tutors don't care... so we had to dive into massive piles of mud and grass in shorts and white polo shirts, with this torrent of rain around us for TWO AND A HALF HOURS. Ahhh. Despite my complaining it was hilarious, as mud+rain can be when you realise you can't fight it; so might as well accept and embrace it. The rain reminded me of Theo&Oscar's woods post. :K
So, yes, that was my half week! XDD Also received my coursework deadlines and have been working like crazy on a silly electrolysis experiment. Hopefully it's worth of an A for effort if not for grade.
Oh and I'm using Ruth despite her not actually being approved yet... because she, like Leah, wants attention.

Well, I've also had 3 days of school so far which have been...mixed =). On the whole it's not been bad, though tiring. Doing 4 subjects isn't easy, especially as I don't have any frees at the end of the day. Unless I can get out of a general studies lesson. And I doubt that's gonna happen =). Anyway, Wednesday was good, seeing everyone again. The morning was pretty boring, with basically just talks and the normal beginning-of-year assembly. Then in the afternoon I had chem with the new teacher, who I'm very happy with . I then had a free, so I talked to Ting a bit. Well, I say talk, we didn't talk much haha. Which I guess is my fault for being so boringly repetitive (I'm working on getting out of that, trust me . Or rather, I'm gonna try to get out of it). Then I went home early, as we didn't have GS. Yesterday...was tiring. I had all 4 subjects, including a full afternoon of maths. Yes, a full afternoon. Such is life when a mad decision to pick up an extra AS is made. Which could end up ruining my life, indirectly. But I'm gonna make the most of it-I got myself into it, afterall. Doesn't help that even after just 2 lessons I'm already, like, , at some things. Oh, and we're doing 2 mechanics modules. Not good. Ah well, my other lessons were good, though basically a recap of last year.As Viv said, we played cards at lunchtime with some friends in the year below, which was fun. Umm...today...I basically wasted my free, but what the hell! I was intending to give my PS to my referee, but couldn't find her at lunch. And then heard she wasn't accepting PSs today anyway, despite them having to be in IN 2 WEEKS. Also wanted to ask about resits, but that can wait anyway. Lessons, again, were alright...FM was even more than yesterday, bio was boring, and chem was, well, pretty unproductive lol. Didn't really do much at lunch apart from wander round. Oh yeah, I was already grumpy when I got into school having a)been caugfht in the rain (luckily the nice lady that I always see at the bus stop but don't usually talk to had an umbrella which she was kind enough to share for a couple of mins before the bus came) and b) been charged £2.60 for the bus journey . I really need to get another pass... Which unis have you decided on Viv? I think I've decided my 5, just have to see what my referee says about the choices...she shouldn't have a problem with 2 of them (Cam and Dur), and she said one of the others was good last time I talked to her (Bath), but the others...not so sure. Leeds has an excellent course, though I've never been there (I'll take Izy's word for it that it's great there), and UEA, well, not exactly impressive BUT it has a year in Autralia option ;D. And the course isn't too bad. But I'll only go there if I don't get offers from any of the others, probably. By the way, I've finished Series 3 of House now . To be honest, the ending wasn't as dramatic as the previews had made it seem, but it was still excellent. Yes, I know I'm behind, but I'll catch up. Eventually I'll be at the stage where I'll be able to watch Series 5 eps the week they come out. Starts September 16th in America, apparently . Or some time around then anyway.

Ha well here's mine..it's actually a lot different than what you guys would be used to. Basically because despite this being high school, they kind of baby us. It's actually quite annoying. I'm not six. I realize that you're supposed to get your work done, you can't cut class, and you're not supposed to eat/drink/or inhale the lab chemicals. These past three days were alright I guess...just mind numbingly boring. First class of the day for me was Spanish. My new Spanish teacher probably has something jammed up her rear end is all I'm going to say. It must be a family thing, since I kinda had her sister as a science teacher last year and I couldn't stand her. Then there was Geometry, a class in which I knew no one. My teacher probably isn't going to be here the entire year considering she'd like six months pregnant. She seems nice though. Then there was lovely Art Class. If you've ever seen That 70's Show she is the exact replica of Kitty Foreman, Red's wife and Eric's mom. In every single possible way. After that I had journalism, with a teacher who thinks I'm like clinically depressed or something. After that there was lunch, then science (with a crazy teacher who enjoys surving, snow boarding, and jumping on his desk? I think the guy is partially insane) and finally English and Global History. I have a wild feeling I won't be doing very well in that class as I might be extremely distracted. My teacher looks like a mix between a Ken doll and Harvey Dent from Batman. Oh and then today, being the infamous freshmen friday for the wee little children entering our high school (haha...) I saved a bunch of Aimee's old friends from torment from our ever so generous upper classmen. It was a lot of fun. I also had to endure an entire two hour school meeting about dress code and sexual harrassment. And then came the mind numbing laboratory procedures and crap I've known since fifth grade along with piles of class guidelines and expectation sheets....but the first week is finally over, so hopefully things will get a bit less brain mushing. And I've found that every day since school started, I've been taking mid-day naps the moment I get home. Like today I slept for about three hours before I was woken up by a phone call from a friend of mine. Although lately I've been having a lot of allergy problems, so the medication has been mainly what's put me to sleep. Hopefully I can stay awake long enough this weekend to actually get some posts done.. ohh and I'm thinking of dying Riley's hair to that brunette she has in the new Heroes season. What do you guys think?
|
|
|
Post by Ariane Chan on Sept 6, 2008 15:51:47 GMT
Izy: Yup. And I explained most of it on the phone to you already. Astrid: I think woods and rain and kissing rolled together will always remind me of Theo&Oscar. XD Kat: Unis... I think Durham and Yorke are definites. Warwick is a strong possibility. There's this Welsh one, Aberystwyth, which is really prestigious and only requires a B! So that's my back up. Lancaster may be a back up also, or fill the last space. I'd like to apply for UCL, but I've decided against it becaue it's London and the fees are double. Hm... I haven't thought of anywhere else, I don't think. Not a Scottish one, or a London one, those I'm certain of. I can't wait to see what happens in House Season 5. Ezzie: Lol, your classes are so different from what we get over here in the UK. I'd love to be able to try the American system for a day, but it'll never happen, lol. I'd love to see Riley go brunette! But not yet, and for several reasons. I don't think brunette is something Riley would do until she was pushed over the edge and gets isolated by Oz and turns to those older girls who get her into drugs, drinking and smoking, etc. I could imagine her doing the whole rebellious thing and to top it all off, go brunette. Plus, there aren't exactly many icons of Hayden with brown hair right now. So I'd give it some time, but yes, it's a great idea! Though I think Riley's always a blonde Coxen to me at the end of the day. ^^

Heh, I do love the way they handle school over here at times, but others its just downright annoying. My high school is actually one of the more lenient ones around here. Some high schools around us actually have a closed campus, so they can't go anywhere until the school bell rings. But I'm hoping this is only how it's going to be for the first few days. The teachers looked just about as bored as the students, so it's only a matter of time before we start actual work. Although I have started working in some of my classes, and I'm not quite sure whether I prefer the brain mushing completely redundant lessons or the actual work that they have planned for us this year. And as for Riley, I wasn't planning on dying her hair too soon anyway. I was thinking a few months after the incident with Bruce..and it would most likely be the ideas of those new friends she'll be making along the way. I was thinking Riley would be venting to them about how she's so different from the rest of the family and not really accepted, so they'll pressure her to die her hair, which she'll do all too gladly. And that will just be the first of the many choices they 'help' her make. Right now though, I'm hoping on some inspiration to right a Quidditch audition post for little Riley though...I don't think I'll have a chance to do so next week.

Ezzie, your science teacher sounds a bit like one of our ICT teachers. Viv, in case that wasn't just a typo, it's spelt York, not like the surname of a girl in our year. Just as Yorkshire isn't Yorkeshire.

|
Post by Celia Richmond on Sept 6, 2008 18:11:14 GMT
Viv: Ahh, good choices there . Well, I don't know much about Aberystwyth, but I'll take your word for it that it's prestigious. Durham's excellent for English, so I dont' blame you for applying there (hmm, that means that all 3 of us are lol), and I believe York is too, plus they're both nice places. I'd probably apply to York myself if they did a course I wanted to do. I considered Lancaster but then decided against it for some reason or other (can't really remember). And I really don't wanna go to London to study, even though some of the best unis are there-basically cos of the cost and that it's such a big city! And Izy, do you really think Ezzie's teacher sounds like one of our ICT teachers :S. If you mean Mr S then I don't think he's like that much. he'd rather go on about how the government is stalking us and how the internet isn't private at all. He is pretty insane though at times. And what other ICT teachers are there...I can only think of the one that also teaches Physics and the technician... And yeah, the American system is completely different to the Briths system =). You seem to have a lot more freedom when it comes to choosing subjects than we do, and a lot more options to choose from. It would be interesting to go back in time and go through high school in America rather than over here for some reason. And we've started actual work, right from the first day. Though so far (apart from in my FM lessons, which has been completely new stuff) it's just been a recap of AS really. It's all good though . Not much to report from me...had quite a relaxed, boring day. Had my dancing lesson this morning which was fine. I can't really go any further with my uni stuff this weekend as I've done my PS and chosen my course/unis. Cambridge, Durham, Leeds, Bath and UEA, for those interested. Only thing I can think of doing when it comes to that is choosing which Durham college to apply to, as I've pretty much decided on the Cambridge college. I have a feeling that there're some things I have to do that I've forgotten about though. Ah well, I can always finish homework/post/think about what to write about for the magazine. Though if we're skipping to October then I have an idea. I'll look into other things though. Oh, I also need to practise guitar =). Hope everyone's well today .

Ezzie: Yay for Riley joining the Gryff team! She's basically going to replace Zara's Chaser position. So thanks for that! I felt terrible about dropping her, but at least that meant Scott could have a chance at being the Vice. Izy: Yep, typo. Kat: Looking at this Welsh uni, it sounds great! So do Durham and Warwick. I haven't scoured York's yet. I still have that last space to fill, and I refuse for it to be Manchester. Astrid: I was annoyed too. But I can't bring myself to hate Nadal. I don't like Murray much either. In fact, I don't really like any of the tennis players. XD But I usually support the underdog so yeah, I hope Murray won. As for my day - didn't do much. I woke up pretty late because... basically, I had an awful night last night. I'd rather not go into it, but I didn't go to bed until 1 a.m. I woke up feeling absolutely terrible. I have never and probably never will experienced a hangover, but I would assume it's something like that. Bleugh. Ate breakfast, dropped on the sofa and watched TV, until forced to go out for a late lunch. We ended up viewing some really nice but expensive apartments in Manchester. There was this small, cosy one I would've wanted in a heartbeat, except I don't want to study in Manchester. XD I'd like it though if I returned and was working! Got home pretty late in the afternoon, went on 4Houses and Gaia and hotmail... Then started looking at unis. Couldn't go to Izy's because of the rain and my parents were out so I couldn't get a ride. Had dinner, watched the Eurovision Dance Contest, and so glad Poland came first! They're such a cute couple, and the guy danced like a professional with a nice routine. I was just aaaw for the guy. XD I thought Louisa and Vincent for the UK did much better than they got, definitely! Totally agree with Craig and Len. But the head judge, Gladys, was really pretty. I recognise her from somewhere... So yeah, here I am now. Lol. Pointless day. I really have to write my personal statement tomorrow, refine Mrs Maher's essay, write Mrs Air's, do Mrs Maher's history table, read Birdsong, and somehow hope my local library will get me my copy of Dorian Gray asap. *sigh*
