Secrets of the Warren Witches [[Randy]]

“Audrey!” Abby Warren cried as Audrey opened the large oak doors of the Warren manor. This large beautiful home has belonged to the Warren witches for centuries. Not one man has occupied it yet unless they were married or related to a Warren witch. The Warren’s were a very female dominated family. The Warrens originated in Salem, Massachusetts, but were forced to move here to Hogsmeade away from the muggles in America. Large crowds of sexist and power hungry men used to chase the poor Warrens until they were forced to leave their home and hide out in Hogsmeade, surrounded by other runaway witches and wizards. Audrey smiled at her aunt, whose hair had been dyed jet-black.

“Hey Aunt Abby! Wow, I love your hair! It looks amazing. Is there any particular reason you got it done?” Audrey asked, hugging her aunt tightly. “I just needed a change. I was starting to see so much blonde hair lingering around this old place it was scaring me.” Abby said amusedly. Abby was the middle child amongst the three sisters. Audrey’s mother was the oldest, being thirty years old. Then came Abby, and then came Alyssa, who was only Audrey’s half-aunt. But Audrey loved them all the same despite their differences. They were the perfect idea of the perfect sisters, although Audrey knew that was not always so. Back when the three sisters were in Hogwarts, things were much different. Each sister had exactly five years of difference between them, so they never really got a chance to really bond until they graduated from Hogwarts. Being a Ravenclaw, her mother wasn’t the most popular of the lot. She was studious and decently responsible, but she allowed herself to fall into ‘that damned trap called love’, so she had to struggle with Audrey during her last two years at school. She was known by many as ‘the girl who got pregnant’. Abby used to be the biggest rebel of them all, dating around and never settling. That’s pretty much what she does now, only she’s much more sophisticated and responsible about it. She’s an advice columnist, so Audrey always comes to her aunt Abby for advice. Her aunt Aly (short for Alyssa) was the youngest. She was only Audrey’s half aunt, but she loved her just the same. She was very rebellious as well, and has fallen into a deep hole of trouble when she was in her late Hogwarts years. “Audrey dear, I wish we could stick around, but we all have to go off to the Ministry today. We’ve got some business to take care of.” She said in that familiar mysterious voice that always got Audrey angry. Why couldn’t they just tell her what they were doing?

Audrey sighed. She put her things down and watched as her aunt disappeared with a loud crack. There was no point in staying here now. Audrey glanced back at the manor one more time and walked out again, headed for the three broomsticks. She walked in and noticed that the place was crowded…again. There was only one free seat left, and that was across from a girl who looked just about her age. She approached the girl nervously. She didn’t want to intrude on the girl’s privacy or anything, but she just needed a seat for a bit. “Excuse me, do you mind if I sit here?” She said shyly.

“I'm not gonna write you a love song. 'Cause you tell me it's make or breaking this if you're on your way. I'm not gonna write you to stay if all you have is leaving. I'm gonna need a better reason to write you a love song today.” Randy sang her new favorite song happily as she pushed her head-phone back to her ears as they fell. She loved music. Really, this was something that St. Claire’s had given her. Yes, it was a bit funny that Randy thought that the orphanage had given her the gift of music. But, in a way, it had. Randy grew closer to music during her first years at St. Clare’s and Zack helped of course. He was always urging Randy to listen to new things. And she always obliged. Zack had excellent taste in music and Randy always trusted him. Randy wasn’t a singer or a musician, but she loved listening to any music that she could get her hands on. At St. Claire’s, she spent most of her nights listening to her music as the others slept. Randy shared a room with three other sixteen year olds. Randy, Blythe, Erin, and Lacey had known each other for years, and Randy loved them to death. But, something about the orphanage made her turn to music and not her friends. She just didn’t know what it was,

Randy’s blonde locks bounced with the wind as she ran to Hogsmeade. Randy never seemed to stay still. She was constantly moving, constantly living life. She didn’t want it any other way. Randy loved life. She loved moving. She loved everything or at least she came off that way. The truth was, Randy had a whole other side to her that even Zack didn’t know. He only knew the bubbly, angelic Randy that he had known since age six. Zack knew more about Randy than any one, but there was still a part of her that was hiding things from him and herself as well. Randy didn’t want to admit that she was more lost in life than she knew. So, she didn’t let anyone think that she was lost. According to others, Randy knew exactly who she was. In reality, Randy wasn’t really sure. She was confused and lost. But, she kept that smile on her face. As long as she faked it, she didn’t have to think about it. Randy just wanted to keep running through life.

Randy tugged her head-phones from her ears as she approached the sleepy little village. Randy loved everything about Hogwarts. It was small and yet everyone seemed to know about everyone in the wizarding world. The things Randy would hear while walking down the street amazed her. She always listened in and chuckled to herself. The villagers even knew most of the Hogwarts Students. Randy would hear little snippets of conversations like, “Did you hear about that Ezzie girl. She had her own boyfriend killed!” or “Did you see where that Slytherin girl fell and hit her head on the ice? Little idiot, she was.” Randy listened to these conversations. She found them quite hilarious as she didn’t know who these witches were talking about. She didn’t listen to gossip and she didn’t read Witch Weekly. But, Randy did find amusing that many people thrived on these stories. Why were the so important? She sighed and walked through the icy streets.

Randy made her way the Three Broomsticks. She loved the pub and knew every waitress and bartender. “Joe!” Randy said giving the bartender a hug. “Randy darling, where have you been all my life?” He joked in his usually flirty sort of way. Joe tried to cover it up with his flirty ways, but he had crushed on Randy for years. She had always been a beautiful girl with mysterious ways. Guys liked that about her. Randy laughed. “In your dreams Joe. Always in your dreams.” She smiled and they both laughed. Randy looked around and found only one busy table. She walked over to it and Joe followed her. “So, what will it be today, dearest?” Randy laughed. “You’re not a waiter.” She accused. He smiled. “No, but I am for you.” She smiled. Randy already knew what she wanted. “A butterbeer and Michael’s famous mushroom burger.” She smiled. Randy didn’t eat dainty like a girl. She liked hearty meals, but she ran so often, it didn’t matter much what she ate. Michael nodded and turned to the kitchen. “Michael!” “Yea?” Michael called from the kitchen. “Randy’s here!” Joe told him. Randy could hear Michael laugh. “One mushroom burger coming up Randy!” Randy chucked as people in the pub looked to her. She had always gotten along great with guys. She just couldn’t help it. Second later, a girl came over and asked if she could sit. “Of course. Sit, sit.” Randy said in her normally bubbly manner. “Hi. I’m Randy.” She figured being social would be better than sitting in silence. “And you have entered the crappiest pub in town.” She joked and laughed. “Hey now!” Joe called from the bar as he heard Randy’s statement. Randy laughed. “What’s your name?” She asked the girl.
