It was a cold night, well, outside anyway. Inside it was rather warm and Spencer wasn't shivering under her blankets in the dormitory. But if she did one thing as cast one small look at the window across from her bed, she got a sudden shiver up and down her spine. It was snowing, and it was snowing so gracefully. Glistning snowflakes all around, she could hear the sound as they fall. The moonlight was so spectacular that it made the fallen snow shine so brightly. It had this frosty glow to it, and it took Spencer's breath away. It was useless trying to get back to sleep, so she slipped her blankets off and put her feet inside her warm slippers that were right by her bed - and she padded out of the dormitory down to the common room. The fire was dying down, and the common room was empty except for the occasional scuttling of the house elves that were there but unseen. Spencer smiled, wrapped her robe tighter around her, and left the common room as well.
The hallways were empty and it was kind of eery, considering their were torches along the wall lighting the way. The people in the portraits slept, dreamt, snored. It was amusing for awhile, but Spencer found herself moving down a corridor she had previously gone down before. She pushed on the door she had opened that day she had met Stewie, and slipped in undetected. If Filch had seen her then that would be bad, but lately Filch had been out of it - his poor cat was poisoned. No matter how much Mrs. Norris was a sneaky conniving little devil, Spencer still felt a soft ping in her heart for the ball of fluff and her owner. Many other students were happy though, and Spencer tried to be - but when someone hurt an animal, it didn't matter how annoying the animal was; it was wrong and it made Spencer upset. She hid it well, though. Many didn't notice how angered she was at it, but she was.
The room was dark, empty, and the only light came from the window and it was white. Spencer tucked some of her hair behind her ear and made her way over to the window, she sat down on the sill and sighed as she leaned her head against the glass - looking at the snow. It was so pretty, so silent and so carefree. Spencer wanted to just sit there and watch it all night, watch it fall carelessly down onto the ground - knowing that it won't stay beautiful forever. Some annoying first years will go and trample on it, roll it up into balls and throw it at others - all because they had no respect for beauty. Spencer sighed again, and she wasn't even aware someone else had entered the classroom.

The Ravenclaw common room seemed still and quiet apart from it's usual noisiness. Not a sole seemed about and that made the night perfect for Jamison to play his guitar. The dorms were still and it seemed no one at all inhabited them. It was the perfect opportunity to do the thing he loved, playing music. Most people wouldn't not dare disturb the common room at night afraid to wake up fellow dormates However, Jamison knew not a sole would hear him. He loved his music dearly as he sang his thoughts through it. It seemed Jamison had a song for almost every event of his life. However, he wasn't in a particular mood to write a new one. Instead he was softly singing and playing joyful Christmas time songs in the common room.
Sleigh bells ring Are you listening in the lane snow is glistening A beautiful sight We're happy tonight walking in a Winter Wonderland
Gone away is the blue bird here to stay is a new bird He sings a love song as we go along walking in a Winter Wonderland...
Jamison couldn't even get to the chorus before he heard something odd. The room was quiet. Yes, it had been quiet before, but now it was an iry sort of quiet. A kind of quiet that could only be produced by one thing. "Snow." Jamison said softly staring out the window. It was so beautiful and dainty. It was so different from the normal day weather and that's why Jamison liked it. It brought change to the world, something everyone needed to experience. Jamison looked at it as he connected the snow to the song he was just singing. "Now it really is a Winter Wonderland." He said almost silently. Jamison then took his hand and touched the glass window. It was freezing cold outside and Jamison didn't feel like changing out of his thin clothes. However, he wasn't tired and decided to walk around the castle. He wanted to admire it from every possible angel. Jamison silently placed his guitar by the window sill and slowly made his way out of the common room into the empty corridors.
The halls had the same iry silence as the common room. It was as if they knew it was snowing out side. The portraits made little noise as the slept and dreamed. Probably of snow. Jamison thought. It was sort of sad the people inside them could never really see snow. True, they weren't really living, but they were still there. He slowly crept passed the portraits. Filch didn't seem around and that pleased him as Jamison didn't want points taken away from Ravenclaw on his account. They were so close to winning the cup, but still a part of his wanted Hufflepuff to win. They were certainly misunderstood students. Everyone had the understanding that they were stupid and clueless. However Jamison knew this was not the case as his own sister was in Hufflepuff. Wendi was the most brilliant child Jamison knew. They were certainly misunderstood and maybe it was time for people to see them in a new light.
Jamison looked out various windows around the castle. Each were cold and the glass has an icy film over them. Jamison could see tiny icicles forming on the windows themselves. They were so beautiful and majestic. Jamison couldn't help him self but wonder exactly how cold they were. They had to be pretty cold for the water to freeze entirely. When they fell, they had to create a large sound with all the frozen water. He smiled at them and then moved on. Finally, Jamison found a corridor that didn't seem entirely familiar. Also the windows around it seemed different in the others in an unexplainable way. Jamison crept closed through the hall. Until finding a classroom. It wasn't until he was inside that Jamison noticed a person near the windowsill. He tried to make out who it is. He took a few steps and noticed it was a girl. As he stepped further Jamison recognized her as a fellow Ravenclaw in his year. "Spencer?" He said looking at her leaning against the window. Jamison was almost certain that was her name. "What are you doing?" He asked nicely.

Spencer looked up so sharply that she hit her head on the window sill that was above her; "Ow...oh," she smiled at Jamison, "hello." She moved over a bit on the large sill to make room for him to sit next to her. They didn't talk often, but they knew who each other were, of course - they were in the same house and in the same year. Why wouldn't they know who they were? She looked out at the snow again and smiled sleepily; "I'm just admiring the snow before kids go out and ruin it. I love the beauty of it - and it's a shame when everyone goes and walks through it. Make snowballs out of it. But then that brings a whole other kind of joy all along with it." She turned to him and smiled again. Spencer smiled an often lot lately, but she wasn't necessarily complaining - she liked her smile.
"What are you doing up so late? Insomnia? Sudden urge to wander around the castle aimlessly? Oh, I know, you wanted to find some girl you can talk to about nonsense things..." She tried to tease, but she found she was way too tired to tease accurately. Spencer rubbed her eyes sleepily. She was tired, but not at the point of being able to fall asleep just yet. She had fallen asleep and then the snow had woken her up. Normally she could sleep if a bomb went off - but she hasn't lately. She didn't know what exactly to blame it on. But she blamed it on something. Not just her inability to sleep. She pulled her legs up onto the sill with her, and hugged her knees - trying to keep the shivers from showing up. No good. She was shaking rather violently and her teeth were chattering horribly.

Jamison watched as Spencer hit her head on the glass. "Hey. Oh, are you okay?" He asked nicely even though she seemed fine. He then took a seat beside her staring out of the frosted window into the land of snow. Jamison nodded listening to her words. "I understand. I bet my sister will be one to jump in it. She can never seem to keep still." He gave out a small laugh thinking about it. Yep, she would certainly be on of the first years to go explore the snowy land, that was for sure. "Yep, I love when it snows at Hogwarts. In London I am usually out of town when it snows. It's like it wants to me to miss it." He laughed thinking about his visit to Paris the year before when it snowed. "But, it never misses me here." He smiled looking at the soft flakes falling gently to the ground. They were so majestic and sort of comical in a way. The all piled o each other and some fell upon each other in the air. They were like little humans in a weird way.
Jamison laughed slightly at Spencer's teasing. "Oh, yea defiantly the last one." He joked. "Actually, I'm not too tired and was up when the flakes fell. So, I was walking around the castle for better views." He explained calmly. He wasn't usually one to break rules as he was never taught to do so. However, this was an exception as it was one of the first snow of the season. Jamison watched as Spencer became rather cold. Unable to watch her shake as the gentleman her was, Jamison decided to do something about it. He couldn't very well create a fire in the castle. So, Jamison could only think of one thing. "Accio Jacket" He said pointing his wand in the direction of his dorm. He then got up and went to open the door, and waited for a minute. After a few seconds, his jacket appeared. He smiled and walked back over to Spencer and took his old position. "Wear this, it will keep you warm." He said in a warm voice. "It was my father's and it is the warmest thing I own." Jamison said offering her the jacket. He smiled brightly at her hoping she would take it. "So, where exactly are we? It might sound dumb, but I can't remember this classroom." He said looking around the unfamiliar room.

Spencer grinned and accepted the jacket thankfully, she slipped it on her shoulders - but didn't slip her arms in. She was odd like that, if it wasn't her jacket she didn't feel comfortable sticking her arms into the sleeves. Spencer pulled her hair out of the collar and looked back at Jamison; "Ah, well, you've found the best room for a view of anything. There are so many windows in here, and they are so large. I love this room, you should see it when it's raining. It's so peaceful and you feel as if you are in a waterfall, because you're seeing from behind water as it trickles down - and it's just...breathtakingly beautiful." Spencer looked out the window again and watched silently for a bit, before turning to Jamison and smiling.
"Want some hot cocoa? It's my specialty. Considering it's cold in here, and I do this often." She pulled out her wand and swirled it before flicking it, and it was then that two steaming cups of chocolate appeared in front of her. She tapped the side of the cup with her wand and three marshmallows appeared in it, then she did the same to the other. She handed one cup to Jamison and kept the other for herself. There was so much people didn't know about Spencer; such as she had to have exactly three marshmallows in her hot chocolate or she thought it tasted odd, or that she liked to sit alone and talk with one other person rather than be in a large group of people, or that she would rather stay inside and read than go out and party. Everyone just saw waht they wanted to see, not what was truly there.
"It's hard to believe it's Christmas already. Isn't it? I mean, it's as if it was only a week or so ago when we arrived to school for the new start of term. I can remember the exact smell my aunt smelt like, the exact clothing Clay had on, the exact thoughts rolling around in my mind as I boarded the train - I can remember them just as they were then, now. It can't be that far along in the year, it can't be. The year isn't supposed to go by this fast." She whispered into the darkness. Or at least, she thought she was whispering - for in that room everything seemed to be a whisper.

Jamison grinned as he watched Spencer pull the jacket over he shoulders. He was glad someone was making use of it as sometimes it was hard for him to. He usually did the same thing for his sister. That jacket held too many memories for Jamison. Sometimes it was better to let someone else experience the unknown than to let him experience something sad and familiar. That jacket still seemed to smell like his father. The peppermint sent seemed forever in the pockets. It also smelled fresh of the wild flowers his mother always kept in the house. It might be a bit dusty, but not too bad. Jamison nodded while Spencer talked. "I should do that sometime." He said referring to the room when it rained. Jamison tapped the ice cold window and a sudden chill over took him that he let his hand linger for only a moment and then pulled it away.
Jamison looked back at Spencer as she asked if he wanted hot cocoa. He nodded thankfully. It was cold in the room and hot cocoa was perfect. Jamison could remember days at home where Wendi and him would sit by the fire and sip the hot drink. Wendi would always spill her's and she would laugh when Jamison cleaned it by using his wand. That kind of thing was still unfamiliar to her in those days, but now at Hogwarts, she was used to it all. Jamison accepted the drink from Spencer and took a sip admiring how good it tasted. It smelled exactly like fresh cocoa and the marshmallows seemed to melt in the drink. He smiled and took a few more sips.
Jamison then listened as Spencer talked about how it seemed school just had began. "I know what you mean. I can remember my grandparents on that day. They of course didn't want to let my first year sister go. They looked all somber as if they knew something bad was going to happen. Nothing could be detected on their faces and I remember I searched for some sign of anything." He paused still reminiscing that day. They really didn't want to see the children go it seemed. But, they knew Hogwarts was much safer than London. Jamison looked back up at Spencer. "Is it just me, or does school seem so much different from last year?" He asked. Last year seemed sort of far away to him at the moment unlike the start of the school year. Everything seemed to change in time since the year before. Jamison, however, was still convinced everything had changed for the worse.
