Brooke was sitting on a comfy little couch in the student lounge. She had just finised with her lessons for the week and needed a little time to relax.
She had only crashed for about fiive minutes when she started twitching. She needed to do something to blow off all the stress she had built up from the week. She raised her head and looked up, but she didn't she any of her friends.
So she sat waiting for someone to save her from . . . whatever it is you would call this.

Kat ran, skidding around the corner sharply and burst into the student lounge. Kat let out a long breath and waved at the students eyeing her curiously:” Sorry, run into Filch.”
Kat fell onto an armchair, throwing her legs over the armrest and tried to catch her breath. It had been a long run from Filch, even though Kat was in quite good shape. She had actually been having a water-balloon fight with Peeves. Surprisingly Kat got along quite well with Peeves – one couldn’t say they were friends, but they didn’t tell on each other, as they had met often enough when Kat wondered the halls towards the kitchen at night. Peeves seemed to like Kat and didn’t tease her as much as he did with other students, except for the occasional water-balloon fights, but at those Kat participated as actively.
Suddenly Kat noticed a fellow first year student sitting on a couch opposite her. A Gryffindor according to her robes. Kat was quite social and wanted to have friends outside her house, so she started to start up a conversation. Besides her hair were soaked and as they were that long they dripped uncomfortably cold water on her blouse.
“Hey, I’m Kat. Sorry for interrupting, but do you know any good drying charms? Got into a little water-fight with Peeves before Filch broke it off,” Kat smiled at the other girl friendlily, crossing her fingers for good luck in her mind.

Brooke eyed the girl with both eyebrows raised. She was soaking wet.
"Run in with Filch, eh? I've had my fair share of those," Brooke said. "I'm Brooke. First year."
She pulled out her wand and muttered a few words that she remembered from charms class.
"Looks like that worked. So um how's life?"
((Sorry, I'm having trouble with my posts. All of my creativity has been drained from me for these stupid articles for journalism. *gag* But they'll get better and longer. Soon. Hopefully.))

“Good to meet you, Brooke,” Kat smiled and felt extremely relieved as she was magically dried after Brooke muttering some spell,” That feels a whole lot better. Thanks!”
Kat smiled happily and rearranged her ponytail:” Filch, yeah, he is annoying. I guess he does have a hard job, but I mean the house elves help him clean the castle, so he could loosen up a bit.”
“How’s life – mmm, quite usual I guess. I have an other potions essay to finish but I just completely suck at Potions. Even though I kind of like Snape, don’t know why. And Herbology as well for that matter,” Kat grinned at the other girl,” And History of Magic. Actually I even looked up a spell that can turn my book into a pillow, although for everybody else it will look just the same. But now I’m babbling, so tell me about your own life – it can’t be more boring than mine.”
Kat stretched lazily and smiled at the Brooke:”Hey, I hope you don’t mind me asking, but are you muggle-born or pure blood? My brother sent me some muggle games – Twister and Monopoly and some more. I just started wondering if wizards don’t have any board games besides chess and exploding snap, as I haven’t seen any others.”

Brooke bit her lip and looked towards the ground. Why was it that such a simple question had to be so complicated for her?
"I uh, I don't really know what blood I am. But I've played all sorts of muggle games. And as for the wizard games. Chess and exploding snap are really popular. So are gobstones, but I've never played before."
She sighed slightly before continuing.
"As for my life, it's been a little complicated lately. Long story. Anyway, I'm not too great at potions either. To be honest I suck. I'm not too much better at herbology or astronomy either. You're going to have to teach me that spell by the way. I mean what use is a history book if you can't turn it into a pillow?"
((Okay so my posts are not going to be very good for the next week. All of this school crap is draining me of my creativity. They'll be better soon though!))

Kat didn’t reply for a moment. While traveling with her brother when she was younger, Kat had learned to read people quite well. And her origin was obviously a touchy point to Brooke.
“I don’t know how to play chess. I mean, well I know the usual moves and stuff, but I always loose. I just can’t think ahead,” Kat answered calmly with a friendly smile, “And I have never played gobstones either. I’ve always wondered how wizards would react if I asked someone to play any muggle board games.”
“About your life – I’m sorry to hear it. As I don’t know your story I can’t offer any comfort to you, but I will be there if you need me. Whether for a shoulder to cry on or do blow off some arrogant jerk,” Kat smirked and winked Brooke, “Besides everybody need to blow off some steam form time to time.”
“Potions – I just don’t understand it. I try to do everything correctly, but it just won’t turn out! I don’t understand why so many people are afraid of Snape actually – in some weird, morbid way Snape reminds me of my brother,” Kat laughed remembering suddenly Snape’s face when she had told him that, “Jake also has long hair and dark eyes and a tall and slim figure, with a quite short temper for clumsiness. I thought that Snape was going to faint when I told him that he reminds me my brother while I was in detention, when he tried to glare at me. He was so shocked that he let me leave on spot.”
Kat sighed happily thinking back, “I wish I had had a camera with me.”
“That spell – of course! I went to the library and it took my 3 hours of research but I swore to myself that I wouldn’t leave the library without some spell. I fell asleep on my open book during the first lesson and in the end of the lesson my whole face was covered with ink form the book,” Kat grimaced and rubbed her cheek, “It looked awful!”
Kat studied Brooke for a moment before glancing around the lounge: “So where you doing anything important here when I distracted you?”
Brooke smiled as Kat continued to talk. She had hardly known the girl ten minutes, but already she liked her. The girl had a lot to say and Brooke liked that kind of people.
"Important? Not really," she hesitated for a moment before adding. "I want to do something. Gosh I so need to blow off some steam. I thought I wasn't going to make it through History of Magic I couldn't keep still."
She huffed and fidgeted a little in her seat. If only there was more excitement around here. There had to be something they could do.
"So, any ideas?"

“Need to blow off some steam? Know the feeling! Guess why I joined the water-balloon fight with Peeves – there isn’t a chance in winning against a poltergeist, after all, as the balloons just pass right through him,” Kat smiled brightly at Brooke, thinking this might be the beginning of a new friendship or at least a fun way to spend the day.
“So how do you usually blow off steam? Want to raid the kitchen’s or pull some prank? Or even teach some unsuspecting pure-blood wizards and witches the joys of twister?”
Kat offered anything that came to her mind on spot: “Of course there is always Filch or Snape to bug. And you may stop me at any time, when I start rambling too much.”
Brooke thought carefully as Kat began to list off some things they could do. A lot of things sounded appealing, but what did she really want to do?
"Um I don't know . . ."
She trailed off as a thought came to mind. But could they pull it off. Surely with all the Christmas rush they wouldn't be noticed. And she remembered the secret passage she went down when she was escaping with Katie a while back. It could work.
Brooke smiled mischeivously and glanced around to make sure no one was looking at them. She leaned in a little closer to Kat and made her suggestion quietly.
"What about, we sneak into Hogsmeade? We won't be too conspicuous, right? I mean, if we are we can always through on a few charms to muddle our appearances."
Brooke waited smiling to see if Kat was willing to take the risk.

“Hogsmeade,” Kat said the word slowly as if tasting it, but she couldn’t stop the twinkle appearing into her eyes.
“I have never been to Hogsmeade you know, but I would love to see the Three Broomsticks and Zonko’s and Honeydukes sounds great too,” Kat tried to sound serious as she leaned forward and looked at Brooke straight in the eye, “But then again we would be breaking about 12 school-rules if not more.”
Kat smirked and jumped up: “So what are we waiting for? Sounds great!”
