Alexandra took her eyes from her boyfriend to Kennedy, who was glaring daggers at her. His voice was stern as he claimed she was just as curious as she was. Her anger mounted to the highest levels of her temper and she placed a hand on her hip, her eyes aflame. Oh, so he wanted to place the blame on her shoulders now? She felt herself cry a bit harder as her anger forced tears from her eyes. It took every bit of her self control to hold back an attack on Kennedy. He had swayed her by saying that Pyro was keeping something from her and when Kennedy motioned to the pile of ash, doubt seized her.
Her doubt was replaced with more anger as Kennedy suggested her and Pyro speak. She wiped the tears from her angry red cheeks and glared even harder at Kennedy. Years of being the outcast had taught Alexandra to stay quiet in matters like this. She was ready to pounce on Kennedy for being so calm and placing the blame right on her, but Pyro was there, before she had a chance to react, blocking Kennedy's way from the room. Alexandra, as many times before, was awed by Pyro's quick reflexes. But this was no time for admiration of her boyfriend. Her focus had to be on what was being said.
Pyro's anger had gone past rash temper, he was now at that calmness that was so much more dangerous. Alexandra knew part of the anger was saved for her and she felt that same guilty nausea come over her. She knew it was because of Kennedy's sly words that she was even in this situation, but she couldn't blame him fully. She was partly to blame. She was weak enough to let Kennedy sway her against her boyfriend, the only person she trusted. And now she felt terrible. What had Pyro done for her? Everything and she let Kennedy break into her boyfriend's room for him.
Pyro was angry. He accused, rightfully so, that Kennedy had broken into a locked room, snooped about, and tried to take a letter of significance. Alexandra felt her eyes move to the pile of ash. What was so important about that letter? She shook the thoughts from her mind and went back to the conversation. Pyro then leaned forward and whispered things into Kennedy's ear that Alexandra could not hear. She suddenly felt a pang of anger at her boyfriend. She was tired of being left out of the loop. She was there, caught red-handed, and still she could not be informed of everything? She sighed quietly, crossing her arms and shook her head. This was what it was like when she was living with her "parents". They would forever not tell her anything, treating her like the dog who wouldn't understand, so what was the point of explaining? Alexandra knew Pyro wasn't treating her this way, but the painful memories of her past were creeping up on her more and more each day. She took a deep breath and look back at the two standing in the doorway.
Suddenly Kennedy burst out with words that Alexandra didn't understand. Betray him? Why? Were they speaking of Fiona? Pyro betray Alexandra? That was absurd! She felt her mouth drop at Kennedy's words. He said that Alexandra was in the dark. Her heart beat quickened as fear seized her. Maybe he was right. Maybe Pyro was keeping something from her. As Kennedy began speaking to her, she felt herself back up against the dresser. Her back painfully collided with the hard wood. A secret society? Alexandra closed her eyes and shook her head. He lied to her. He had told her that book was nothing. No society. But here was the proof. She bit her lip and looked down at her feet, suddenly feeling like she was back at that stupid mansion with her "family". She felt alone, tiny, and forced to be an outcast. She looked up at Pyro, tears in her eyes again as Kennedy was about to leave.
"Pyro...?" She felt the tears fall. Kennedy had been right? But how?

Pyro turned his attention to Alex's tear stained face and waited for the familiar click of his door closing so that he could deal with the next problem in the situation. Once again Kennedy surprised Pyro by doing the complete opposite of what he expected. Shut up Kennedy, if you know whats good for you. Shut up. Played itself over and over in Pyro's mind as Kennedy's rant continued and continued. Pyro felt his anger rising with each second as Kennedy started to push the line and than finally crossed it. "Bastard." Pyro growled under his breath and spun around. In the blink of an eye his fist was balled up and flying at Kennedy's face. The punch didn't connect though for Pyro stopped it mere inches from Kennedy's face. Pyro eyed Kennedy down the length of his arm.
"If I was you. I'd get out of here. Right.......Now." Pyro said slowly and deliberately. His eyes conveying the message of "Do not screw with me right now." Kennedy had done the unnecessary. Pyro was about to come clean with Alex and explain everything that he could. But Kennedy had screwed with that delicate business rather rudely and it was going to be hell for Pyro to try and fix the situation. Pyro lowered his hand, his eyes never leaving Kennedy. "Get out." He said in a tone that allowed from no excuses or rebuttal. He turned slowly and faced Alex, his face immediately softening at the site of her.
"Alex." He said softly, sighing a little. "I...I wanted to tell you. I really did, but I couldn't. It's forbidden for any of us to tell anyone. I hid it from you to protect you. I didn't want you to get sucked into this." Pyro tried to continue but seemed to have lost his voice. He sighed and paused for a second before finding his voice once again. "I know, you probably don't trust me fully right now. But, please, believe me on this. I didn't want you to get hurt."

Cass yawned. Unfortunately for her, Cass' little game hadn't gone as planned, but no matter. It had really thrown her the three slytherins into turmoil. After a bit of a tizzy, all three of the snakes had some how made their way upstairs. Getting bored, she finally decided to make her way to their little party. After all, she wasn't going to miss all the theatrics. Poor Kennedy. She honestly felt bad about having drug him into this, but for some strange reason, she actually liked the guy. Well, liked her as much as she could. He was a Slytherin after all. As a Gryffindor Prefect and the Captain of the Quidditch team, Cass had to keep up appearances. The phrase ' Get Along with Slytherins' was not in her job description. It was bad enough that she was related to one of the longest running lines of slytherin families. In fact, most of the Gryffindors secretly wondered about Cassandra. For instance, one night in the Common Room, she heard two first years talking about her and where her loyalties truly lied. It had hurt.
As Cass ascended the stairs, she heard their three voices get louder. Rounding the corner, Cass saw Kennedy, Alex, and Pyro in what seemed to be a heated argument. Hanging back, she watched as the three of them batted conversation back and forth. As usual, Alex was near tears. " How weak," Cass said out loud in barely a whisper. What in the hell did Pyro see in her?! Alex was such a drama queen. Finally, the big moment arrived. Kennedy announced to Alex about Pyro and Fiona's affiliation with a secret cabal of Slytherin. Smiling with glee, Cass took the opportunity to slip into the room behind her cousin as he admitted his little secret.
" Bravo, Cousin. Thank you for doing my dirty work for me," Cass slipped in between Kennedy and Pyro like a snake on its belly. " Now, I certainly didn't wish for Alexandra to find out this way, but I guess now was as good a time as any." Cass used Alex's proper name; tryings to project some superiority over the three. Looking at Alex, she sized her up. Trying to feign sympathy, she stood beside, but far enough away so that Pyro wouldn't take a swing at her. Pyro was a poor wizard, but Cass knew from experience that he could cause damage with his fists. " I do sympathize with you, dear. If he was hiding this from you, I wonder what other secrets he has under his cloak. I don't know what it is like in Slytherin house, but in Gryffindor, keeping a secret is almost paramount with a lie. Think of how many times he had to lie to you to keep his little club shrouded in mystery." With a quick glance and a superior smirk, she caught Pyro's eye.

Alexandra couldn't believe her ears. Pyro had lied. He didn't trust her with the truth about the Chosen and about the book. She sighed, forcing her tears back. It wasn't the time for hysterical crying. She listened to Pyro's plea and confession and looked at him, her eyes glistening. She was speechless. What was she supposed to say? 'OK, babe. It's all good now'? She was angry with him, she was hurt, but she had also betrayed him. She suddenly hated Kennedy more than ever. It was him. But her sudden outburst of hatred for the Slytherin, she realized, was misdirected. It was Cassandra, who was suddenly in the room, playing on their hurt and anger.
Alexandra felt a glare come to her face as the Gryffindor entered. More than anything Alexandra wished she could scream, yell, and say horrible things at Pyro's cousin, but now was not the time for that. Alexandra remained calm as Cassandra feigned sympathy, almost as an insult to Alexandra herself. Anger flared up inside the small Slytherin and Alexandra knew she was glaring with hatred she didn't knew she had.
"Excuse me, Miss Perfect," Alexandra said, surprising herself with how much venom was in those words, "But I don't see how you have room to talk. You started this whole thing with your late night meetings with him,' she pointed at Kennedy and spat out the word 'him' as if it left a foul taste in her mouth, "So don't act like Pyro is the one in wrong when you did everything to ruin what was between us. I know you don't like me and, frankly, I hate you something awful, but did I ever do anything to you? Did I? Really? No. So stop putting your ugly little nose into everyone else's business. Pyro would have told me when he was ready or when the society let him. I would have been OK with that. What I am NOT OK with is finding out this way! Now, you've all ruined my night. I hope you're happy."
Now that she had said more in one night than she had ever said her entire life, Alexandra left. She was done with them. Pyro and her would talk later, but for the time being, she was going to separate herself and go to the ball and try to have fun. She didn't want to lose Pyro and hopefully he didn't want to lose her either.

Pyro watched Alex's face carefully as the hurt slowly began to take over her body. Of course she was going to be hurt, he had lied to her since the beginning. What else could he have expected? A little kiss and an "Its alright now." Pyro didn't deserve to be let off that easy. Pyro hung his head and was about to allow Alex her rant, let her get everything of her chest and he was going to take the entire brunt of her conviction when he felt his body grow numb at a new presence in his room. Pyro had never felt like killing anyone more than he did right now, not even his father had chipped this close. He knew Cass was in the room way before she even began to speak and he slowly turned away from Alex to face Cass. His hair hung across his face, casting a dark shadow over his eyes so that Cass wouldn't be able to read them easily. Her words moved through him quite easily and he hardly flinched at her words, outwardly. When she was done speaking Pyro opened his mouth and was about to take all his rage out on her, but someone beat him to it.
Pyro's eyes widened in surprise as Alex stepped up and began to lock words with Cass first. Pyro hadn't known Alex for long, but he had never heard her speak with such anger and venom, and she had definitely never spoken this many words at once. He was shocked, even though all her anger seemed to be dumped on Cass and Kennedy at the moment, her words fell on Pyro like a ton of bricks. In his surprise Pyro's anger seemed to fade and Alex was halfway out of the room when he regained his senses. "Alex wait!" He called after her reaching out with his hand, but she was already gone. With Alex gone Pyro's anger easily flooded back into him.
His reaching hand curled into a fist and fell to his side. His body began to twitch involuntarily and his teeth clenched as a growl quickly grew into a scream of rage. "RAAAHH!" Pyro swung his fist down and connected with the desk at his side. The tough smooth Oak wood splintered and the corner of the desk went flying away. All that was left of the corner was a splintered mess, with a few splinters buried deep in Pyro's hand. He slowly brought his hand up to his mouth and bit into one of the larger splinters and pulled it out and spat it to the ground. "I always wondered why my father took you in? He never did have much love for strays, and with his actions toward you I can see that he didn't suddenly receive a revelation and gain love toward bloodtraitors. So at first I wondered if he let you in to punish me. Keep me busy fighting you so that I wouldn't have the time to fight him."
Pyro couldn't help but allow a chuckle to escape his lips. "I don't know the old mans reasons for the decision." He kept his voice strangely calm considering the situation. "But don't worry, when I take over the Blackfire household I will see that the mistake he made is rectified. You will be out of here faster than you can say mudblood. You will be locked out of all the Blackfire bank accounts, you will be blocked from any use of the Blackfire name in your favor." His eyes narrowed deeply. "You will remain penniless and poor. You will stay a loser Logton for the rest of your life." He once again brought his fist up and removed another deep splinter. "Now, get the hell out." He turned away but quickly turned back. "Oh, and I hope your mother and brother weren't conscious during that fire. Burning alive is an awful way to go."

Cass sneered at her cousin and his fit of rage. " How pathetic of you, Pyro?" She let the words sink in. "I'm only doing what you would of done in my position. You are just upset because I nearly got passed you and your little pathetic group. It really sucks to be on the other end of how you Slytherins usually treat people. I've manipulated you to the point where you are backed up into the corner scared like a whipped dog. It sucks being manipulated to that point, doesn't it? Maybe all three of you should remember that next time you decide you want to waive around your pure blood pride" Turning to Alex, she addressed her specifically. " What have you done to me? Well, I can still recall the day when you were sitting around with your snickering Slytherin friends calling me an orphan. Well, guess what Alex? When you first came here, I actually had some sympathy for you. However, you destroyed that by putting your little snotty nose in the air, and not even acknowledging my presence when I tried to talk to you." Gaining speed, she headed on. "Remember when I opened the front door to you? I smiled and let you in. Hell, I even felt sorry for you. We are in the same boat you and I."
She continued. " And Pyro. I thought you would be proud. I'm finally becoming the slyerin like pure blood you wanted me to be on the train ride home two years ago." With that said, she turned on her heel and began to walk away.
