Shadow sat in the Slytherin common room, staring at her guitar. Her kitten Insanity sleeping next to her. Shadow owned a guitar. Shadow played guitar. Even though she was pure and against muggle things she still owned the guitar and she still played the guitar. She looked around, slightly nervous in case anyone saw her sitting next to her guitar. She saw no one so she picked it up, lovingly. Insanity opened one eye and watched Shadow intently. Shadow smiled at Insanity and picked up her black plectrum. She looked around again before turning back to her guitar and started to play, humming along to the tune she was playing.

Mitch was in his dorm when he heard a faint noise and he said to him self '' That sounds like music '' he started his way down stairs to the common room to see what it was when he got there see saw somebody in the corner with a guitar he walked right up behind her and said '' Your pretty good ''.He stood there with a smug grin on his face just looking down at her.

"Thanks" Shadow said coldly as she stopped playing quickly. She turned and looked at the 1st year who had disturbed her while she was playing. Her vivid green eyes outlined in black eyeliner, scanned the boy up and down before she nodded. She brushed her long black hair out of her face, still staring at they boy rather coldly. Her look softened when she noticed his smug look. Shadow for once in her life didn't know what to do. She had never been looked at like that before.

Mitch could see she trying to figure him out , so he just looked bad in the end he got bored of trying to look big and introduced him self to the girl as you do when meeting some one new he calmly said ''Hi my name Mitch and you are ?'' then stood waiing for a reply.

She stared at him for a couple of minutes before finally standing up and speaking. "I'm Shadow" She said, raising an eyebrow at him. Shadow had also not been treated like this. Most people were too scared to talk to her.

Mitch wondered why she had a guitar but didn't want to ask instead he ask if he could sit with her because he was bored by him self ?. He stood waiting for an answer he looked down at the kitten then back to shadow and waited.

Shadow stared at him coldly for a moment, not sure if she should A) trust him and B) want to get social. She finally nodded and mumbled a yes at him as she sat back down. Her kitten Insanity jumped on the arm of the chair next to her. She didn't know what to do as she became more nervous.

Mitch took the chair on the other side of shadow then looked round the empty common room wilst working up the courge then he asked why she was down here alone when the girls dorms are full of screaming Slytherin girls ? he sat back and awaited a reply

She thought for a little while as she plucked a tune on her guitar. "I prefer quiet rather then screaming girls. Besides I really don't want to get beaten up for having and playing a guitar. I'm pure. I'm meant to be against muggle things. And I have a reputation to keep up" She said, shrugging.

He sat there wondering weather or not he should leave after thinking about it he asked do you want me to leave.
He didn't want to but he didn't know else to do he sat on the edge of hie chair ready to leave if she said yes ,so he waited hanging on the edge for a reply.

She thought for a moment. She didn't know really. It had been so long since she had talked to someone 'nicely'. Usally she just threw an isult and then punched whoever had talken to her.
She carried on thinking about. She didn't realise that she had even said but she had blurted out "No, you can stay." She shrugged and decided that she did want Mitch to stay.

Mitch gave a sigh of relief and sat back in his chair , after he'd gotten comfortable he asked shadow why she had a guitar because he couldn't see anything interesting about them.
To him a guitar was just a big piece of wood , it didn't interest him but that mite just be because it didn't have any magical qualities.

She smirked. "I've been adopted into several muggle families. And I've always loved music. And a guitar is the eaistest way to make music in the muggle way. So I learnt to play. Besides I just seem to be attached to it" She said, proudly even though she knew it was something not to be proud of.

Mitch didn't know what know what to say he was taken aback by all the info she had just given him.
He sat thinking about what she had just said then without realizing he had said it he asked where her parents where? then he realized he'd said it and froze dreading the answer.

She laughed coldly. "My parents are 6ft under ground. I... I rebelled against them, my mother soon died of a broekn heart and my father died afterwards leaving me up for adoption" She said, before realsing she had said too much. She soon quickly added, "But they look better with mud on their faces and maggots slwoly eating away their flesh as the rot underground slowly" She laughed coldly again.

Mitch was sorry asked he didn't think Shadow would answer in so much detail but now he new why she was as hostel as every body said she was.
He didn't really know what else to ask so he asked something really pathetic he ask her '' whats your kitten called ? '' .

She smirked. "Pathetic question, but I might as well asnwer" She said, looking at her kitten. It meowed at Shadow and lookd at her. "My kitten is called Insanity" Shadow said. When Insanity heard it's name it meowed again before curling up and falling asleep.

Mitch was now wishing he hadn't ask about the kitten because now he felt like a idiot so he asked another question he asked Shadow if she'd show him how muggles used a guitar ? because he'd only ever heard of them being used to play music.
He wasn't sure she would but he couldn't think of any more question and he was sounding more and more like a idiot with the questions he was asking and he has the family name protect.

She rolled her eyes and sighed. "Okay, I'll show you, but don't expect full lessons off me" She said, smirking before picking it up again. She put it up against her, tuning it quickly before picking up her plectrum and started playing another song just off her head. She smiled at him slightly before returning her gaze back to the guitar. "Basically you just pluck the strings with diffrent fingers on diffrent pats of the fret board which makes a chord. You put at least four chords together and you have one bar of music. If you get 10 bars then you have yourself a sheet of music that is ready to play" She said, not taking her gaze of the guitar.

Mitch still didn't get why she liked it so much but ever one has there own likes and dislikes .
He just got thinking about the muggle skate-board when he remembered that most people in the wizard world had something from the muggle world so why should she be any different.
He didn't really know what else to ask so he just sat back in silence and watched her little kitten sleep.
