It was Saturday. Landon smiled at the thought, thinking that he wouldn't have to worry about any classes for the day. He didn't despise going to class, but he was grateful for the occasional day where he could just relax and not worry about school for a change. He had a little bit of homework that could be done, but he knew that it didn't amount to much, so he decided to not worry about it for now. Pulling on a pair of jeans and a long-sleeved shirt, he grabbed his notebook and headed toward the library. It had been a while since he had read a good novel. He loved reading when he got the chance, but he loved writing even more.
Entering the almost empty library, Landon plopped down on a cushioned chair and let out a sigh of relief. He could tell it was going to be one of those days. A day where he could just sit and do nothing but think. Think about his family, think about his friends, or just think about whatever he wanted. He loved the thought of it. It was so freeing. Opening his notebook to a blank page, he began to write...
Life goes by, a flash of light. Here one moment and gone before... We rush to do what we desire, Sometimes wishing there were more.
He stopped and put down his quill. He didn't usually write poetry. He read what was written and tried to decide if he liked it. It didn't matter. That's what he loved about writing. You could just keep doing it, and even if it wasn't right the first time, you could always change it to make it better. It was a process of trial and error.
Just before he was about to write some more, Landon heard the library door open, and he looked up to see who had arrived. Expecting to see some younger student rushing to finish an assignment, he was surprised to see a girl who he recognized from his year and house. He knew her as Konnor, but never really took the time to know her. That was common with Landon. Unless somebody initiated conversation, it was unlikely for him to be the one to start talking first. This was totally unlike his twin sister Lexi who would talk your ear off if you let her. Deciding that today was no different for him than any other day, he didn't say hi, but instead looked back down at his notebook waiting for the next sentence to come to him. If she wanted to start a conversation with him, then he would let her do the initiating.

Konnor woke a little early this morning. She rubbed as she tried to adjust her eyes to the morning sun. It was chilly in her room. She hopped out of her bed, and walked over to the window. She slightly opened the curtains, just to see what it looked like outside. It was snowing a little. Konnor stood there a minute, watching as snow flakes fall to the ground. She moved away from the window, and went to the bathroom to take a shower. When she was done drying off in the bathroom, she grabbed her tooth brush, and brushed her teeth. She loved to groom herself properly, and look proper. She smiled at her reflection in the bathroom mirror. She decided to go back to her room, and change considering she was only wearing a towel.
She dug through her drawers searching for the perfect outfit. As she looked through her top drawer, she took out two white matching socks. She walked to the closet, quietly as to not wake the others, and grabbed her cutest jeans. She got her robe, pink scarf, and matching gloves. She walked back over to her drawers, and got out her cute pink shirt with built in light pink tank- top. She put on her clothes all except scarf, her robe, and gloves. She walked to her bedroom mirror, and brushed her long blonde hair, she decided to pull it back into a long pony tail. She then applied her make up, which consisted of some glossy pink lip balm to her cute pink lips, some mascara to bring out her long lashes, and a little brown eye liner to bring out her beautiful blue eyes.
Pleased with her appearance she walked over to where she had sat her bag neatly on her bed. She set her bag on the floor, and fixed her bed. She liked to keep her room as orderly as possible. She picked her bag up and, placed her book she had checked out of the library on potions in it. Konnor also put some parchment and quill in the cute pink bag with the Hufflepuff crest. She grabbed her bag, and headed for the library, Christmas was over, and she had to return, and check out a new book. She skipped over to the door, closing it quietly, and she was on her way. Seconds later she was in the halls of Hogwarts, on her way to to the library. She saw some people on the way there but she didn't particularly recognize them. She arrived at the library and quickly returned her book, before it was too late. After she returned her book, she decided to go look through the isles for a book that would catch her eye. As she looked through the isle she had no luck, but then she found a book on Transfiguration that looked particularly interesting.
She grabbed the book, and walked over to a table to read. Not noticing her surroundings. She opened her book to a page that had a moving picture explaining the spell, it was pretty cool. Konnor enjoyed reading, and writing. She had always been that way, since she was a young girl. The sorting hat could have just as easily placed her in Ravenclaw, but she was more suited for Hufflepuff. Konnor got really interested in her book when for some reason she looked up. She looked around the room, with a confused tingle to her. She didn't quite know what was going on, she just had this feeling she got some times when she was to hyper to site down, a feeling like she had to do something. She looked over and saw a boy she actually recognized. She new he was a fifth year Hufflepuff like her, but she couldn't put a name with the face. She got her book and bag, stood up and walked over to him. "Hey, my name is Konnor!" She introduced herself happily.

The girl didn't say anything, but instead she returned a book at the front desk and then disappeared in one of the aisles. Landon dismissed the thought, and began writing again. He added some more to his poem, but then after tiring of poetry he flipped back to a story he had started a few days earlier. He wrote for about five minutes before he saw the girl approach again. This time, she did decide to talk to him, and she introduced herself as Konnor. She was awfully cheery with her introduction.
"Hi," Landon replied quietly. "I know you from seeing you around, but I don't believe we've ever took the time to talk," he added. "I'm Landon. You may know my twin sister Lexi, but if she knows of you, she has never said anything to me," he explained. He shut his notebook and leaned down putting his hands on his knees. He really wasn't good with making conversation, so he hoped that Konnor didn't expect much. After all, she approached him. It wasn't that Landon was bitter toward people, he just often felt uncomfortable and preferred being alone. He felt so much pressure when others were around. Almost as though they were observing and analyzing his every move. He felt like a caged animal sometimes, especially when in large groups of people. He often wished he could be more like his sister. He would love to be more outgoing and not worry about what others thought. But he wasn't. It just wasn't who he was. He figured people would have to accept that.
Looking down at his shoes, Landon thought continuously, wondering what Konnor was thinking. He looked up at her and gave a small smile. "So what brings you to the library?" he asked, saying the first thing that came to his mind.

"I don't think we have spoken in person either.." Konnor said giggling. "I know your sister Lexi, I think." "You might know my twin sister Kelley she is a Ravenclaw fifth year." Konnor said happily. She looked around curiously. She tend to do so when she was sitting down. "Nice to finally talk to you Landon.." Konnor said giggling. She usually giggled instead of laughing because she liked the feeling, and people always smiled at her giggle, it was the cute kind, and not the annoying whiny noise. Konnor looked at Landon, he seemed kind of nervous. She tried to break the ice as much she could. She really wasn't to terribly intimidating.
Some people preffered being alone though, so Konnor decided to just kind of calm down a little. Konnor watched Landon, she saw him give her a smile. It was a friendly smile, and kind of sweet. She blushed a little. "Oh, I had to return a book, and I wanted to get another, and maybe I was thinking of writing in my parchment journal I made not to long ago." Konnor looked over to her bag, reached in it, and grabbed her special little journal she had made herself. It was cute. The front page said in italics Konnor Ortiz Hufflepuff in blue ink. It was very Hufflepuff looking. She handed it to Landon to let him look at it.
"Watcha think?" Konnor asked curiously. She liked to get opinions from different people. She was proud of her work, and didn't mind showing it off a little. She smiled fondly at Landon. "Its not great, but its alright for being hand made, well all except the parchment that is." Konnor commented. She loved making her own things, even if she had enough money to buy her own stuff, she liked the idea of doing it herself, and being different from everyone else. She smiled proud of her little journal. She had almost filled it up, all except one page. She figured she would just make a new one when she finished it. She wanted to wait for something special, or someone special, for her to write the last page about. It would be like the end of this chapter of the year. Konnor figured her next one would be called Konnor Ortiz Hufflepuff than under it would say II Edition. Konnor looked back up at Landon waiting to see what he thought of her journal.

Konnor mentioned that she also had a twin. This was at least one thing Landon found that they had in common in case he was desperate for something to talk about. Then, Konnor pulled out a parchment journal which she had created. A smile spread across Landon's face. Apparently, Konnor enjoyed writing as well. This would be another commonality between the two. As Konnor handed her journal to Landon, he looked it over and examined her handiwork. "Not bad," he commented, handing the journal back to Konnor. He was as trusting with his notebook. For some reason, he just didn't like the idea of anybody else having it, or holding it for that manner. His writing was something he took very seriously, and let only those very close to him read.
"What kind of things do you write about?" Landon asked, attempting to get Konnor's thoughts away from asking about his journal. While waiting for a response, he casually picked up his closed notebook from the table and set it between himself and the side of the chair. He was slowly warming up to Konnor. She seemed nice enough, and he felt a little of the pressure lift as time went on. Still, in the back of his mind, he couldn't stop thinking about what Konnor's impression of him may be. This concerned Landon a little, but he didn't let it bother him.

Konnor smiled. She was glad he liked it. She liked the fact that her long and blistering writing had been appreciated. "Oh, I like to write about personal stuff, I make up little comics in my journal, some poetry, and I love to write poetic quotes. Konnor was a very deep person, even if it didn't shine through in person. Her whole entire Hogwarts experience is in that beautiful little journal. The good, and the bad. If she were to lose that book, she wouldn't know what to do. She usually wrote on Sundays, she would go out to her spot out on the grounds, and write about things she love, things she hated, the important things, and some none important things. It was basically her life story in that one little journal.
Konnor was proud. She never really aloud anyone to fully ready it. She just liked to let people see some of her art. Some funny things. Never her personal writing though, never anything she took to heart deeply. She only liked to show certain things she was proud of, or things that were funny. Some of her quotes were so deep, she didn't know if anyone could relate. Konnor smiled and laughed at Landon. He was so sweet. When he smiled she felt like jumping up and prancing around the room.

Landon listened as Konnor explained that she mostly wrote of personal matters in her journal. That was the one thing that he felt made his writing different. And also the one reason why he referred to his book as his 'notebook' instead of his 'journal.' To him, a journal was more of something that included personal accounts like that of Konnor's, but Landon wrote more of random things- anything that entered his mind. That was why he considered his book simply a notebook. That's what it was full of... notes. Someday he hoped to use some of his notes to publish a book. The thought delighted him, but he knew it was a lot of work. And it required a lot of skill which Landon was unsure if he possessed or not.
Thinking back to Konnor, Landon gained a sudden burst of courage. Konnor's bubbly character eased the tension he first had, and he felt more courageous in talking to her. "So what do you think of me?" he asked with a grin. "I mean, like just in general. I know I can be quiet and often times I wonder what people think." He blushed a little at the question, realizing he probably sounded foolish asking her what she thought of him. Of course she wouldn't say anything rude even if she thought it. She seemed to nice of a person to do that. He really wanted an honest answer though, and he hoped she would be as honest with him as possible. Even if it meant the possibility of hurt feelings. Landon knew he was a nice guy because it was something he valued. Kindness was something he always looked for. Of course, being quiet can often give someone the reputation of being kind, for it is often louder people who are considered to be more rude and outspoken.
Landon's courage died down a little, and he kind of wished he wouldn't have even brought it up. He wasn't sure of what he might have gotten himself into. "You don't have to answer that question," he added as his grin faded. The last thing he wanted to do was put Konnor on the spot. Especially since he knew how it felt to feel pressured in a conversation and also because she had been so kind already.

Konnor blushed. She wasn't sure if to answer that question with what thought had originally just entered her mind. Konnor just decided to say what she thought of him. "My first impression of you was quiet, with an inner burst of personality dying to shine!" Konnor smiled. "As I now talk to you you seem a little to yourself, but that is understandable." "Not everyone is as outgoing as I." Konnor giggled at what she was about to say. "Appearance wise you are cute, you can tell your deep." "I can tell that you are intelligent.." Konnor smiled she was sure her face was turning red now, but what she was saying was completely true. Her first impression of him was a shy boy, who had a great inner personality, and wasn't bad to look at. Then when she began to talk to him, and see him come out of his shell a bit, she saw a regular person just like her.
He was cute, funny, smart, and deep. She could tell that he was a person she could talk to, and tell him things. It seemed that they already had quite a few things in common. "What do you think of me?" Konnor asked shyly. She wasn't sure what he would say. It must have taken him courage to ask her that question. She now wanted an answer also. She gazed up at him and waited to see what his answer would be.

Landon shook his head and grinned. Inside he was kicking himself for asking the question, as he knew he was opening a can of worms. Konnor answered the question, and although flattered, Landon was crushed to hear her ask the same question in return. It wasn't that Landon didn't have nice things to say, but rather he just didn't feel like saying them out loud and sharing them with Konnor. She did however respond to his asking, so he felt obligated to do the same. He was relieved though to see her blush a little. At least he knew he wasn't the only one who was a little nervous at times.
"How did I know you were going to ask that," he joked. "I suppose I have to answer now, seeing that you answered me." He thought a little of what he was going to say, as he didn't want it to come out sounding stupid or confusing. How to start, he pondered to himself. "Well," he finally began, "if I had to describe you in one word, it would be energetic. In ways you remind me of my sister. The way you just seem to light up a room with your presence through all of your energy. Also, you are very kind," he added truthfully. He hadn't interacted with Konnor for very long, but in the little time he had been able to spend with her, she showed nothing but a kind spirit. "And you are very beautiful," he said as his cheeks turned a slight shade of pink. "However," he added, "these are only first impressions. And although first impressions are most important, they are not always correct," he said with a grin. He was sure that his first impression of Konnor was fairly accurate, but he figured there was so much more. There was so much to him that he was sure she hadn't even begin to uncover, so naturally he assumed the same was true for her too.
Landon leaned back in his chair and swung his legs up over the arm rest. Putting his hand behind his head, he closed his eyes and thought. He wanted to write desperately but felt rude doing so while holding a conversation with Konnor. He wanted to write though of happiness and friendship, for that was what Konnor made him think about.

Konnor blushed big time. He was smiling wide, and looked so cute. She couldn't help but feel slightly embarrassed. Her answer was so truthful. She hoped that he would think she was nice as well. She laughed at his comment. "Hmmm.. I wonder?" Konnor asked jokingly. Konnor could see he was thinking, as did she when she had to answer that same question. She laughed when she heard that he would describe her in one word as energetic. Which was completely correct. Thats exactly what she, or any one of her friends would have said. She was slightly bummed when he said she reminded him of his sister. That was never a good thing to hear from a cute guy such as him.
Konnor giggled a little. On the inside she was completely serious. So far he got her perfectly right. She loved when he said she was very kind. She was glad he noticed that. She listened as he said she was beautiful, and his cheeks turned pink. She was so happy at that moment. Konnor was positive her face was red. She listened further as he grinned. He looked so cute when he grinned in that way. His dimples were so cute, and so were the rest of his handsome facial features. She couldn't believe that they had literally met not too long ago, and already they understood each other, not completely of course, but certainly a little.
Konnor watched as he leaned back in his chair and sat his legs up, looking quite comfortable. She smiled. She leaned back in her chair, careful not to fall, and sat her legs up on the table. Closed her eyes and laid her head back facing Landon's direction.

Konnor continued giggling, and her face turned red when Landon answered the question. In a way, he wanted to know what she was thinking, but he knew it best not to ask, for fear of having to answer another question that may make him nervous. Instead, he remained in his relaxed position on the chair, all the while thinking of writing.
Not wanting to be rude, he opened his eyes to look back over and see what Konnor was doing. He was surprised to see her staring back at him. He had a feeling there was something she wasn't telling him. He dismissed the thought, and sat back down in the chair regularly.
"Let's play a game," he blurted. Landon had an idea in mind, but not wanting to ruin the surprise, he went on without explaining what he was doing. Without giving any time in between, Landon rambled off three simple questions for Konnor to answer... "What is your favorite color and why? What is your favorite bird and why? And finally, what is your favorite feature of nature and why?" he asked rather quickly. Landon waited for the questions to register in Konnor's mind, assuming he may have to repeat one or two in case she missed them. Then, he listened carefully for her answers.

Konnor laughed. "Sure." Konnor said in response to his question about playing a game. Konnor calmed herself down a little. She listened as he asked the questions, Konnor it was part of the game so she just went ahead and answered. "My favorite color is blue." "Why, because its the perfect color to describe me, and it reminds me of the sky which reminds me of up, which reminds me of God." Konnor smiled pleased with her answer. "My favorite bird?..." Konnor repeated. It was an odd question. She thought for a minute and then came up with her answer. "Parrot." "Because, they are very unique, and funny, I love their appearance, I think that some of the different kinds of parrots are the prettier species of birds."
Konnor took a deep breath, that was a lot of words spilling out of her mouth for just one sentence. "My favorite feature of nature would have to be the sky." "Because.." Konnor began. "Every time I look up at the sky its beautiful, I think of flying on my broomstick, and I love it!" Konnor drifted off thinking of that feeling. She loved soaring through the sky, with the breeze in her hair, and the sun shining down on her. She laughed at that thought, it sounded kind of corny. "So whats this game called?" Konnor asked curiously, her head kind of tilting. It often did that when she was curious.

The name of the game... Landon thought to himself. He really didn't know if it even had a name. It was just something a friend had done to him before. He thought about it, wanting to come up with a good name to call it. "How about Uncovering the Mind," he replied with a grin. "I think that name shall do," he added without explaining that he made it up because he had no clue what the real name of the game might be, or even if it was a game for that matter. "Once I explain the game, then you will understand why I chose the name I did," he explained.
"So now for the analysis dealing with your questions," he continued. "First, your favorite color. The reason you picked your favorite color is the same feeling that you have for yourself. Kind of ironic that you actually included that as part of your why," he commented. "Second, your favorite bird. The reason that you like your favorite bird, in our case parrots because they are unique, funny, and visually appealing, is the same traits you look for when finding friends of those who are the opposite gender. And finally, the reason for your favorite natural feature is an overview of your outlook on life," he stated.
The answers seemed as though they might fit generally, although Landon knew they were most likely not right on. It was just a fun personality type game that he figured could tell a little more about a person. He was pleased with what little information it provided him with about Konnor. Looking over to see her reaction, he asked, "So do you think your answers were accurate to what they supposedly represented?"

"Uhh.. Erm... I guess?" Konnor replied giggling. She had never played this type of game. "So you just ask any three questions, and you learn a little bit more about that persons personality?" Konnor asked not knowing if her question made any sense. Konnor smiled pleased with the way her answers turned out to portray her personality. She thought the answers were correct. She just was a bit confused at the whole thing. She sat back up in her chair, like she had been sitting before. "Ok then, if I ask you three questions, and you answer them, I should get a little bit more of your personality?" Konnor asked curiously. She scratched her head a little. She did that a lot when she was confused, or just having a moment. It wasn't really that confusing it was simply she was thinking about it too much.
Konnor just smiled waiting for an answer. She wanted to ask the questions now. "Hmmm, this is quite odd.." Konnor thought to herself still smiling at Landon. "I can't believe he knows all this.." Konnor had never before seen this kind of game, she liked it. She found it to be an intellectual type quiz. "Do you play these games alot?" Konnor questioned curiously. Landon was turning out to be smarter, and smarter. Konnor liked that about him though. Konnor looked over at him. He was so cute, and he kind of cracked her up, the way he was just so smart, and deep. Konnor was smart, and deep herself at times and didn't mean to appear rude or anything.

Landon chuckled at Konnor's question. He wasn't really laughing at her, but rather laughing at the fact that this was a one sided game. "Well," he said admittedly, the point was for me to get to know you better," he explained. "The questions are already predetermined and they have their significance already associated with them. So you could ask me some questions to get to know me, but you would have to have some psychological meaning behind each question in which you can apply to whatever answer I may give you." Landon hoped he hadn't confused her too much. It really wasn't all too simple, and he could see how she may not understand what he meant. The point was, he basically turned his question asking into a so called game so that he could have a discreet way to find out more about Konnor without asking direct questions.
"If you want," he added with a pause, making sure Konnor was listening to him instead of pondering what he had just said, "you can ask me three questions that may not even have any hidden meaning to them. Rather, just ask any three questions you would want me to answer." Landon wanted to make sure that Konnor had a fair chance to find out more about him. Surprised that he no longer felt nervous, he gave another smile and watched Konnor curiously. There was something to her that he just couldn't put his finger on, but he was determined to find out what it was.

"Hmm.." "Three questions I could ask you..." Konnor said jokingly while thinking. Konnor blushed a little she didn't know if she should ask this question or not. "Oh, I get it now." "I'll just ask you these questions.." Konnor began. "Ok, what type of music do you listen to?" That was important because music does kind of reflect how you think. "Hmm... Are you a pureblood?" That wasn't too terribly important but it was something Konnor wanted to know. "And lastly,..." Konnor was embarrassed, but she really wanted to know. "Have you ever had a girlfriend?" Konnor smiled, and laughed. She thought it funny. Konnor was happy to see that Landon was warming up to her a little more. She didn't like that awkward feeling you get before you get to know a person.
Konnor waited patiently for Landon to answer. She looked around the library. There wasn't hardly anyone in there, there was only them, and like two Ravenclaws.

Landon watched Konnor intently. Her bubbly spirit made him smile inside. He had enjoyed spending time with Konnor, and he hated for it to end. He was happy as she began asking him questions.
Listening as she gave him three questions, Landon thought about each answer. He wanted to say just the right things. "My favorite music," he said with a pause, "...well I really like this band called Blue October. They are like a new-age band that is somewhat soft rock with a little mix of violin in most of their songs," he answered. "I could let you listen to them sometime if you haven't already heard of them, as they are not too popular."
"For the second question," he said quickly, "I'm pureblood." This question was easy to answer as it required no thinking, however Landon was wondering why Konnor would ask that, as it was mainly Slytherins who placed such concern on one's blood.
"And for the final question," he said with a childish grin, "the answer's no. I've never had a girlfriend," he announced, unembarrassed. Truth being, Landon never even considered having a girlfriend because he hadn't found the type of girl he wanted. Unlike most teenagers, he didn't get sucked into the dating scene, as most of them thought it a necessity. He realized it was something that he didn't need to force upon himself, and that the right time and person would come.
Turning his grin into a sincere smile, he looked into Konnor's sparkling, aqua-colored eyes and whispered, "Why do you ask?"

Konnor listened intently as Landon answered her first question beautifully. "Umm, interesting.." Konnor said with a girl little smile. She thought about what kinds of different music she listened to. Konnor gazed into Landon's eyes. She loved talking with him, she found him very kind, and caring, and wonderful when you get to know him a little better. "That would be awesome!" Konnor replied excitedly, to Landon's comment about listening to them sometime.
"Okay, sorry for that one, its just a common curiosity of mine." Konnor said, hoping he didn't think that she wasn't judgmental with that type thing. Konnor smiled. She opened up her notebook, and began to draw, while still listening to the answer to the next question. She didn't want him to see her blush, when he did finally answer. Konnor's smile widened, but not too much, but just because she was happy he didn't have a girlfriend.
She looked up for a second, he was smiling so sweetly. Konnor thought it was cute. She giggled a little. "Yes!" Konnor thought to herself. Than she heard him whisper something to her. She grinned.. "Umm, no reason.." Konnor said teasingly. "Just common curiousity.." Konnor giggled. This day was turning out splendidly.

Konnor seemed pleased with Landon's answers. He desperately wanted to start writing again, and he reached for his notebook. Just before touching it, he stopped himself and looked at his watch- 3:15 in the afternoon. "Ummm... I had better go," he blurted. "It's been great getting to know you Konnor," he said as he offered a final smile. It had been a lot for Landon to take in for the day. He really opened up to Konnor and this was unlike him. Socialization was best in small amounts for Landon, otherwise he almost felt trapped in a way. As much as he enjoyed his chat with Konnor, he knew he must get going soon. "Will I see you again," he inquired. A rather stupid question as it was obvious that their paths would cross eventually. They were in the same classes and house for that matter. He looked at Konnor and waited for an answer regardless of the stupidity of the question. He wanted to hear her voice just once more. It made him happy inside and in a sense more calm.
((Sorry so short... figured we could continue in another post- perhaps the one at Blackfire Manor?))

Konnor smiled. She hated that he had to leave, but hey, gotta do, what you gotta do right? Konnor just smiled politely, and finished her drawing, listening, as he asked her a question. "Oh, of course you will." Konnor replied in her usualy friendly tone. "Bye, Landon.." Konnor said sweetly. She got out her drawing, and started working on it some more. She had drawn, this little heart, that had his name on the inside of it, in big bubble letters. She laughed at it. She felt like, a little girl with her first real crush, or something. finished she closed her notebook, and got out her library book, and began reading, and waiting to see if Landon would say anything more before heading off. She smiled, and continued waiting.
(Sure we can meet up there, at Cass's party! ;D Oh and mine is a short one too, I just wrote a really long reply, so I'm a little out of ideas at the moment lol!
