Post by Professor Minerva McGonagall on Sept 26, 2005 3:47:18 GMT
Minerva opened the door the the Owlery and entered the room while the sound of feathers and silent hoots surrounded her. Lookign around sharply Minver made her way through the numerous owl belonging to different students and stopped in front of a tan owl. The owl reached out it’s leg tomwards Minerva and she tied her letter to the owls leg. The owl hooted softly before raising gracefully into the air and floating out of the room. Minerva watched it go for a few moments before taking hold of her long skirts and briskly walking out of the owlery. She had a class starting soon and Minerva wanted to make sure everything would go perfectly. She would not tolerate any insolence in her classes and everyone had to try and give their best.
When Minerva opened the door to her classroom and stepped in the big clock showed that there was still a full hour until next class would begin. She had preparead the class thoroughy so nothing everything should go swiftly, but Minerva still liked to look over her things. Everything seemed to be in order so Minerva took a seat at her table and pulled a stack of essays closer to herself. There would still be plenty of time before the students would start arriving and she could use that time to grade a bit. She had not gotten a chance to correct this essays made by her OWL years the previous evening so she did it now before her students had arrived.

Emma stepped into the classroom, her robes neatly set and her book bag swinging on her side. She had her wand tucked away inside her pocket, and her hair was swept up into a neat, high bun, with two black locks left infront of her eyes. The room was empty, spare the tall teacher at the front of the room, sat behind her desk, pen and paper out. Emma glanced down at her owl-head shaped watch. There was still five minutes before she needed to be in the room. "P-Professor McGonagall? Am I too early?" She hoped it would be ok.

He never thought he would be the type to come to class early, but there was nothing else to do around this school, so he somehow found it happening. At the moment, it was Transfiguration that was the class he needed to attend. He grabbed his books, and tucked his wand safely into the pocket just inside his robes. He glanced over at his tie, which was rumpled up on his pillow and opted to leave it. He moved casually down the hallway and into the classroom, letting his books land a bit too heavily on the desk he chose to sit at near the end of the room. It seemed that being early to class meant that he would be the second one to class.

The door to the Transfiguration room swung open and Pandora swept in with a practiced air of elegance, or at least, as much as could be conjured by an 11 year old. She walked swiftly up the aisle between the rows of desks, allowing her speed to send her black robes dancing in her wake. She kept her eyes locked on the older woman seated at the front of the room behind a great oak desk, it’s papers all neatly folded and stacked about ever so precisely. Pandora recognized the imposing and stern figure of Professor McGonagall immediately as she was the one who had led them in to be sorted on their first night in the school. Being the head of Gryffindor house, Pandora had immediately taken a dislike to the woman though she made no show of it.
One did show disrespect to the teachers, it cost your house points and Pandora could see no good that could come of it. It’s not as if Pandora’s dislike could drive this woman from the school so it was best to stay civil. Pandora also noted the other two first years in the room, both of whom she recognized. She cast Rowan what could be considered a polite nod in his direction and utterly ignored Emma’s existence. Pandora seated herself right up front as it was her preferred position in any class and helped her ignore the distractions of others. She slid silently into her seat and pulled out her text book, quill, ink vial and wand, all of which were arranged neatly on her desk before she fetched a small bit of parchment out. Pandora then placed her Transfiguration book in front of her and flipped it open to the page she had marked with a small silver clip. Silently she began reviewing the first chapter of the book and waited for the rest of the class to arrive.

Zachary raced down the corridors, two words ringing in his head. I'm late! He didn't know that he was actually early for class. Panicked, he darted through the door of the transfiguration classroom, clutching a stitch in his side. Mason had said that Professor MacGonagall, the trasfiguration professor and head of Gryffindor house, was stricter than anyone he'd ever met before, and Mason had met a lot of people. Zach bit his lip. Surely he wouldn't be punished on the very first day? He daren't hope.
There were only a few other people in the room and Zachary breathed a sigh of relief, cursing himself for his stupidity. He wasn't late at all! Good going, half-wit... Taunted the mocking little voice in the back of his head. He silenced it. Spotting Pandora, Zachary made his way over to her hoisting his bag on his shoulder and straightening his robes. "Hi." He said softy. He wasn't sure how Pandora would react to him. Their last conversation hadn't exactly been a light one. "Mind if I sit next to you?"

The soft patter of feet sounded behind Pandora but she resolutely did not lift her eyes from the page before her. If she made eye contact with some lesser student, they might get the idea that she didn’t mind their company and sit beside her. Then she’d be stuck with them for the whole class as old McGonagall would not tolerate having some idiot put in their place, or that was what Pandora had been told so far anyway. A familiar scent caught Pandora’s attention though and as a soft voice rose over her left shoulder, she finally looked up to see Zach standing beside her. He had asked to sit down and Pandora gestured to the seat next to her gracefully. She certainly didn’t mind if he sat with her. Their last meeting had been….a bit tense. In the short period of time she had known this boy, Pandora had already a kinship with him. They both shared secrets that neither could tell but both understood.
Now, they could at least share them together. She waited till he sat down and, making sure no one was looking at her, Pandora offered him what could be considered one of the few genuine smiles she’d ever offered anyone. There was no hidden malice, no cold unpleasantry, just a warm friendly smile that held what could be considered a fairly good secret. For a brief moment, Pandora looked like a sweet 11 year old. Then it was gone as she looked back down at her book. The calm facade she was used to fell back in place and Pandora went back to reading.

Zachary smiled back. It had a marvelous effect on his face. He looked like a boy, a normal boy for once. "Thanks." He muttered, dropping his bag and sliding into the chair. "I was afraid I'd be stuck in here with a load of Gryffindors, or something." He said seriously, and then added hastily, "Not that I couldn't hold my own, of course." He pulled out the transfiguration book and his wand, leaving his quill and parchment in the bag.

Maryn had woken up that morning rather hyper. She liked Transfiguration, but it wasn't her best subject. That didn't matter to her because she was ready to be around the other houses. She of course loved anyone in Gryffindor, but she liked people from other houses also. Maryn quickly put on her robes and applied her unique touch to her outfit. Maryn didn't like to fit in. She was a stand out kind of person and she liked it. Maryn put on her pink eye-shadow, funky green and pink bracelets, pink star earings, green nails, and finished the look off with her signature silver sparkle headband. This look might have been too much for othe people, but it was perfect for her. she quickly glanced in the mirror and headed off to class.
Maryn stepped in the class room and looked around. She saw two Slytherins and a Hufflepuff she didn't reconize. Then, she noticed her friends Emma and walked up to her. "Hey, Emma." Maryn said as she sat down.

Cougar ran toward the classroom. He passed by other students that were headeing for what he thought was Herbology. He nearly hit one but simply grazed his robe and went on. He ran on and on, he thought that the way to Transfigurations was the longest, even though it probably wasn't. He arrived at the classroom door out of breath.
Cougar walked into the classroom, and noticed a few people were already here. He nodded to them, as he saw that Professor McGonagall was working on something. He grabbed a seat that was in front of one of the rows. He looked toward the other students who were here, and waited for class to begin.

Flo walked up the corridor, thinking of what it would be like to be a butterfly. She suddenly hit a wall. "Ooff! Ow-hey!" She was right at the door of Transfiguration, the class she was going to. Shaking her head, she walked in.
" Hello Professor, " Flo said happly. She then noticed that Maryn and Emma were there. "Hey you two! Ever wondered what it would be like to be a butterfly?" Flo sat down next to Maryn. " I was just wondering myself, untill I bumped into the door." Flo laughed. Oh how silly she was.

Sadie couldn't believe that she was barely making it too all of her classes on time. She couldn't figure out what was causing her to be so slow lately. She usually didn't have any problems making it to class on time. Sadie didn't want to run through the halls on her way to Transfiguration, because she didn't want to get in trouble for it. So she decided that the speed walk that she had been doing on her way to every class would be the best way to make it to class in time.
Sadie knew that Professor McGonagall wouldn't appreciate anyone being late for class, so Sadie was determined to get there on time. She noticed the classroom door was just ahead of her. Maybe she wasn't late yet.
Sadie entered the class, and noticed that there weren't very many others there yet. Good, that means I made it on time. Sadie thought to herself as she let out a sigh of relief. She quickly looked around and found herself a seat, and prepared for class

Post by ariana on Sept 27, 2005 12:10:47 GMT
Ariane had a light breakfast that would not cause any permanent impact on her small form. A piece of toast, some cheese and strawberries, a glass of tea and a muffin. It was enough for her. Ariane had woken earlier to make sure she could easily get ready for the day. She had dressed in a shimmering white shirt and a pair of mid-night blue silk-pants that draw your attention to long slim legs and thin waist. She looked impeccable as always with her hair pulled back and up so it was cascading down onto her shoulders in a simple, yet elegant twist. Ariane had all the things she would need for class with her as she made small chit-chat with the people sitting around her. She would be heading towards Transfiguration now. One class Ariane seemed to have natural talent for. It was all matter of concentration really.
Ariane finished her breakfast and turned to leave the Great Hall with a barely noticeable swing of her hips as she slowly sauntered towards the door. Ariane had always had grace and elegance. She had been born with them, so she had gotten the skill on how to make yourself float over ground easily. It just came naturally for her. She was her parents sweet little angel in more than one ways. Stepping into a bathroom Ariane was pleased to see that it was empty. She wouldn’t want to share this room with some dirty little mudblood. Checking her mirror-reflection, Ariane shifted a strand or two of her hair and brushed away a non-existent piece of soot from the sleeve of her robes. She had wanted to check to make sure she looked perfect, but she wouldn’t have really had to worry. Ariane looked as gorgeous as always.
Walking down the hallways Ariane was pleased to see that the few people who were already in the hallways let her pass without any struggling. Ariane’s poise, grace, self-confident aura surrounding her – people seemed to respect it almost subconsciously as they stepped back to let Ariane pass. She had no troubles what-so-ever in reaching the classroom where she swept in with her head held regally high. Sharp eyes scanned the room as Ariane offered a slight nod to Pandora who was sitting next to the other Slytherin first year. Zach was his name perhaps as Ariane recalled, but she wasn’t really sure of it. Ariane moved to the front of the class and chose to desk that wasn’t occupied by anyone and placing her things neatly on the table seated herself and waited for the lesson to begin.

Emma nodded respectably as the Professor didn't answer, and decided that she wasn't too early, as others began to enter. Maryn came in, and Emma smiled at her, then went to sit beside her friend. After a few minutes their friend Flo entered, trotted neatly over and told them happily if they'd thought of being a butterfly. Emma laughed loudly. What a strange thought! By now, the room was almost full. Pandora had entered, and Emma gave her a stony stare, before turning to face the teacher once more.

Pandora stifled a small undignified chuckle at Zach’s remark about the Gryffindors and then quickly went back to the normal, quiet, stoic child she usually was. She glanced up as a few students came in and noting Ariane’s nod, Pandora returned it. She watched as Ariane came up to the other desk at the front of the class next to the table she herself was currently sitting at. Both girls, it seemed, wanted to sit at the head of the class and Pandora was pleased that now three Slytherins were right up front. It seemed fitting to her. She was definitely glad for Zach’s company and decided this class would be a lot more enjoyable with him sitting next to her. She couldn’t imagine what she’d have to endure if anyone but a Slytherin had dared try to sit next to her. At least no one was foolish enough in any of her previous classes to try sitting with her unless they knew her already.

Minerva finished correcting the essay, correcting the wand-movement in it. Looking the essay over once again Minerva decided that it was acceptable and after placing the grade on the topmost right corner, pushed the stack of essays further away. Students had been piling into the room one by one as she had been working on the essays and noow it was exactly the time to start the class. Putting her quill into a ink-opot Mineva stood and smoother her hair back to the tight bun on her hair. „Good morning, students,“Minerva said as she walked around her table and sttod in front of her class as she watched over the classroom and the students filling it and held a qshort pause. Feeling satisfied that everyone’s attention was on her Minerva nodded and started to explain todays lesson.
„Today we are going to practice the most basic transfigurations some more. More precisely you shall be transfiguring snails into teapots. Observe.“ Minerva flicked her wand once and a snail floated over to a high podium next to her desk where everyone could see the snail. Looking at the snail sharply Minerva raised her wand and tapped the snail with her wand while stating the enchantment clearly. „Vicissitude.” The snail changed into a stout bronze teapot that gleamed in the sunshine as there were small engraved flower-blooms decorating it.
Mineva paused for a moment to let the transformation and the charm settle into everyone’s head. “Now, could someone perhaps tell me why it is easier to transfiguration a snail into a teapot than transfiguring a rat into a teapot?” Looking around to see if anyone would raise their hand Minerva almost awaited to see no hand raising. It was a bit difficult question after all, but it would be necessary for the class to carry on.

Emma watched in awe as the Professor demonstrated the correct way of transforming a Snail into a Tea pot. When the teacher asked the question, Emma thought carefully for a moment, then raised her hand slowly. She was fairly sure of her answer, and it wouldn't be the worst thing if she got it wrong.

Cougar was in awe of the professor's performance. It was absolutely astounding. She completely changed it. It even ad decorations and everything. Cougar thought of how he could change a piece of parchment into some Bertie Bott's Every-Flavor Beans. That would be awesome. At the time however i was from snail to teacup, so he had nothing to do but wait and enjoy class. He thought, If only I could show my father, he would be breathless.. Thinking of how Professor McGonagal said it was basic, He thought of what his dad would say to the amazing ones.
The professor asked why it was easier to change a snail into a teacup rather that a rat. Honestly, he had no clue, but taking the chance decided it wouldn't hurt to answer and get it wrong, but if he got it right it could mean points for Ravenclaw he raised his hand.

Minerva was pleased to see two hands raising.Wondering what the two young persons could be thinking off Minerva nodded at them. „Very good. Ms. Blake, please share your thoughts with the class. Mr. Cougar, once ms. Blake has finished her story you may add your opinions if there is still something left to say. Ms. Blake, please carry on.“

Emma was pleased to be chosen for the question, and hoped she wouldn't get it wrong. If she didn't, she hoped Cougar would get it correct as he too was in Ravenclaw. Dropping her hand from the air, she said in a clear voice- "To cast the spell on a snail would be easier than a rat, for the following reasons. A snail is already similar to a teapot, being round like the teapot body, and the head poking out is like a spout. Also, a rat moves far quicker than a snail and may be hard to spell quickly." She ended with a small smile, and hoped she was correct.

Hayden pushed a stray strand of blond hair out of her eyes, as she strolled into the Transfiguration classroom, a broad grin plastered upon her face. As Hayden stepped into the doorway, she quickly searched around for a seat. Hayden quickly spotted Sadie, and rushed over to the desk beside her. "Hi!" she greeted happily. "Are you excited about Transfiguration class? I sure am. I can't wait to do this kind of stuff! It seems so interesting, doesn't it?" Hayden chatted on happily, as she plopped herself into the chair, and sat her bag on the ground, beside her.
Hayden placed her hands on the desk in front of her waited patientally (for once), for the lesson to begin. Once Professor McGonagall welcomed the students to class, Hayden figured that class had officially begun. Professor McGonagall told the class that they were going to be turning snails into teapots, and Hayden's eyes lit up. Wow! This did sound very interesting. Hayden just couldn't wait until she could do things like that.
Hayden smiled as she listened to a girl, that looked about her age, give an answer to the professor. Hayden pondered on it. She understood it, what the girl was saying. Now that Hayden thought about it, she figured that the girl was right, because that's what she was going to say. That is... if she had raised her hand, which she didn't. Hayden shrugged, and turned back up to the professor, waiting for her reply, to see if Hayden and the girl had guessed it right.
((Sorry for my late post professor. I've been very busy with school and real life.))
