Going Nowhere (Anyone)

Ali walked out into the last rays sunlight for the day. She had just finished her last class of the day, potions, and was in need of a breath of fresh air. In class they were trying to make a new potion and they kept blowing up in peoples faces causing the room to stink. Ali inhaled deeply she had been here for more than a month now and still had made no friends. Ali looked around the grounds and found only one place that wasnt occupied by students. A tree over by the lake which normally had more kids than the shade could occupy was empty, which was unusual.
Ali walked over and dropped her bag full of books by a root that had grown so large it was protruding from the ground. Ali sat down by her books so that she had a good view of the lake. She sat and stared at the lake for a few minuets wishing that the wind would make waves bigger than a couple of inches so that she could surf. Her parents had gotten her a new surf board for her birthday last week and Ali wanted a chance to try it out before the summer came and she went home. At the moment it was just lying below her bed gathering dust.
"Oh well" she sighed and turned her attention to her bag and pulled out a book she had gotten from the library at school. It was about a plant they had just learned about in Herbology and her teacher wanted the class to write a paper about it. But even though she was looking at the pages she wasnt really reading. Instead she was thinking about a huge wave she had tried to concure last time she had gone surfing. She had wiped out about 20 seconds in but it had still been a awsome ride.

Rosaliz was new student who just arrived to Hogwarts a month ago. She just finished coming out of the library, wondering where a quite spot would be so she could read but she felt very lonely without making any friends yet. She walked pass a window talking to her self “Well I’m not going out side because it is probably full with students” she said. She looked out side, to her surprise she saw nobody but this girl reading a book near the lake. It was hard for Rosaliz to tell if the book was a Herbology or defense against the dark arts book because they had similar shades of colors to tell the difference between the students year. Rosaliz walked out side to the student, Rosaliz looked at her; she noticed it was a hufflepuff who looked like she was dazed of in her thoughts and not reading at all. Rosaliz taped the girl gently and when she got her attention, she held out her hand waiting for a hang-shake and saying “hello, my name is Rosaliz, what’s yours?”
