Alarice awoke to the sound of birds chirping outside of her window. The dormitory was empty, the sun was blazing outside to the full extent. It must be late in the afternoon for the sun had already begun to fall from the top of the sky.
"Ugh.." Alarice groaned, having no desire to will her emotionally drained body out of its hiding place. Her bed had been her hiding place for two days straight now, but she needed food. She needed some fresh air. Besides, she couldnt hide from the world forever. She had classes the next day, and she would for sure have to get up for that.
Alarice dragged herself out of bed and threw on a pair of sweatpants and a blue tanktop. She brushed through her sandy blond hair and didnt bother with makeup. She rarely wore it anymore. Infact, Alarice rarely did anything anymore. Not after the death of her best friend Emily, just a month ago. After she was murdered, everything had been a blur. All of Alarice's friends had tried comforting her, but had by now given up. She had a lot of friends. She didnt have friends anymore. She had pushed them all away. Her mother had offered to take her out of school for a while, but Alarice had refused bitterly. Like she wanted to spend a single spare minute of her valuable time around her new muggle hating, foul, evil step father. So gradually Alarice had cut herself off from the world, untill finally most people forgot that she was even there. But now, a month later, Alarice found herself desiring a friend. Someone who could understand her. Someone who would actually care what was going on inside her head. She was sick of moping around, sick of digging herself into an even deeper hole than she was already in. She needed someone to pull her out. Someone to help her. Maybe even someone who had gone through some of the same feelings she was going through. She also desperately needed food.
Alarice climbed out of the portrait hole five minutes later and was on her way down to the Great Hall. She decided she would grab some food and go sit out in the courtyard. She took a plate of roast beef and pudding and sat on a bench in the courtyard, eating her food alone.
