Beltane! Beltane! Beltane was coming up! Her and Ernie’s first Beltane as an official couple. Not only a couple – they were engaged. She couldn’t believe she was engaged. Engaged before she had even ever had a boyfriend really. Ernie went from her best friend to her fiancé in a matter of moments… It was so right though; they were in love. How they never noticed it before Hannah had no idea but all that was important was they would be together forever no matter what. This summer she and Ernie would finally be married. Finally? As though they had been engaged forever. Only since Yule, well a little before actually. The train ride home for Christmas break was when they officially got engaged. Hannah twisted the ring on her finger subconsciously feeling the small gold heart in the centre of the white gold band – a symbol of Ernie’s love for her. He had bought it was a Yule gift but when they got engaged suddenly they used it as their promise/engagement ring.
Today she was in Hogsmead looking for a pretty spring dress to wear to the Beltane celebrations. She would have gone with one of her friends but everyone was so busy with NEWT preparation, plus she wanted to surprise them all with the perfect dress. So she was wandering down a crowded street in Hogsmead looking in shop windows for someplace that looked promising. People jostled about as though in a hurry but with it being such a beautiful day Hannah just let them pass her by – it was far too lovely a day to rush. With the spring sun shinning down and a few fluffy white clouds in the sky Hannah couldn’t help but let her mind wander. Her light spring coat made her warm enough and that made her incredibly happy seeing as it was a beautiful shade of pastel purple that reminded her of flowers and she had been looking forward to being able to wear it again.
As she looked into a window with trendy looking clothes that she wasn’t sure were her style she heard a girl’s voice. This voice wasn’t like the boisterous others around which is why it caught her attention. “I wish I had a friend to hang out with” the voice said and Hannah turned around to see who was talking. It was a girl obviously much younger than she but a Hogwarts student no doubt. Hannah felt a sudden pang of sadness for the girl and decided that maybe the girl would like to meet a new friend. Hannah always loved meeting new friends. She took a step over to the girl and cleared her throat loudly hoping to catch the girl’s attention without startling her. “Umm, hi. My name is Hannah, I am a seventh year from Hufflepuff. I couldn’t help but overhear you… I was wondering if you wanted to go shopping with me for a little bit. Feel free to say no of course, I know we don’t know each other. It’s just… I am alone today too and maybe if you are alone and I am alone… we can both not be alone because we will be together; you know?” Hannah then gave a shy smile to the girl and hoped for the best.

Sarah was looking down at her new shoes until she heard someone talk to her. Sarah turned around and a girl obviously much older than her. She looked at her cheerful face. She turned and looked behind her to make sure she wasn't talking to some one else. '' You want... m..m...me to go shopping with you?'' Sarah asked. She was so shy at the moment. Suddenly a wide grin appeared on her face. Her heart melted from the icy hands of loneliness. ''Sure , so.. what are you looking for?'' Sarah asked in a bubbly sort of way.

The girl had seemed a bit started at Hannah and seemed to have a tad of a stutter as well, Hannah suddenly blushed hoping she hadn’t made the girl too nervous. She hadn’t intended to startle the girl – just maybe make a new friend. Or at least spend the day getting to know someone new. Hannah loved making new friends. She loved her old friends to bits of course but there was something exciting about getting to know someone new. For a moment she feared the girl would reject her, say no she had other plans and would run away. Either that or barrage her with insults and a sneer turning out to be a young Slytherin who hadn’t perfected the attitude yet. A wide grin then spread across Hannah’s face when the girl suddenly agreed to go with her and asked what she was looking for. “I need a dress for the Beltane celebrations. Do you know what you’re wearing yet? I love that we are celebrating Beltane this year. I am actually Pagan but the only Pagan celebration we tend to celebrate at Hogwarts is Halloween so I am glad to finally have my religion brought to the other students.” Hannah said happily.
She took a step back towards the store – it hadn’t looked just right but you never knew. Sometimes the best finds and uncovered in the strangest places. “Do you want to look in here first?” she asked turning back to the girl. “I am not sure they will be just right, I want something happy and flowery but not too modern and not too old fashioned that it becomes tacky.” Hannah explained waiting for the girl at the door.

When Sarah responded, she was afraid the girl would be a Slytherin playing a joke. Or she was afraid the girl wouldn't want to go with her because of her abnormal response. But when the girl told her what she wanted and what it was for she felt all fuzzy inside. She didn't expect to get a new friend right then and there. '' You celebrate Beltane too?! I'm wearing a light yellow dress with palm trees swaying at the bottom. Enough chit chat, let's start shopping!''Sarah said. Sarah never acted like this, even in front of her family. She began to think she and her were going to be best friends. ''What do you think of that dress over there?'' She asked pointing over to the dress on display over in the window. It was a baby blue dress with purple hibiscus flowers printed on it. They had a charm put on the flowers to make them fall diagonally. The dress went a little past your knees.

Lacey added one last comma like splash of red paint to the petal of one of the poppies she had been painting before taking a step back. Scrunching up her nose a little Lacey inspected the drawing before deciding that it would have to do. The poppies were bright and colourful but she would still have to draw the vase inside which they were later on. Now Lacey needed to try and clean herself up and try to look presentable before she could head off to Hogsmeade. Lacey dried her paintbrush and corked up the tones she had used before putting them all securely away under her bed along with the half-finished painting and hopping off to try and get the paint out of her hair and off her arms and face before changing into something nicer.
Lacey was on her way to Hogsmeade quickly enough wearing a pair of blue jeans and a simple white jumper. Her fingers were still covered with splotches of colour though so Lacey rubbed her fingers together almost shamefully. She couldn’t do anything about it however. The colour had almost became a permanent part of herself so Lacey had no other option than to let time get rid of the paint as she didn’t want to wash her hands in acid. But Lacey wasn’t bothered too much by it, even if the constant colour on her skin gave Slytherins one more reason to mock her usually. As if her half-blood status wasn’t enough for that.
Lacey wandered around Hogsmeade without no real direction for a little while. She needed some new clothes however. She had grown out of some this winter and some others were already too old and beyond repair. And Beltane celebration was coming up too and Lacey didn’t have any idea what she should wear for that. Finally coming across a clothing store that didn’t look too packed Lacey entered and browsed the isles for a few moment thereby happening to catch an excerpt from the conversations between two girls she didn’t know. Lacey gathered her courage and wits to herself and stepped to the girls offering both a shy smile.
“Hi. I’m… I’m Lacey and I happened to hear what you were speaking of. Beltane? Do either of you tell me what I could or should wear for it? I’m afraid that I’m pretty clueless and starting to get a bit desperate by now.” Lacey smiled at both girls while shifting from one foot to an other a bit uncomfortably hoping the girls wouldn’t mind her interruption.
(( I hope you two don't mind Lacey joining this thread too.))

Hannah smiled when the girl got excited hearing that she celebrated Beltane. This girl seemed really sweet and they were probably going to have a great day. Hannah nodded her head and entered the store after the girl listening to her talk about her dress. The young girl the pointed at a dress and Hannah stepped forward to see it better. She picked up the light blue fabric between her thumb and index finger and was looking it over when someone else came over. This girl was in Hufflepuff she could tell because she had seen her in the common room but they hadn’t been formally introduced.
The new girl said her name was Lacey and Hannah walked over to her. Extending her hand she said, “Hi, I’m Hannah, Hufflepuff seventh year. We were actually shopping for Beltane now so maybe if you stick with us we can find something for each of us. I think you can really wear anything you want though I think most people will be dressed up. Just remember it’s a celebration of spring and fertility but you also have to keep into account it is on the first of May so you want something that you can easily throw a sweater with if it’s chilly which it likely will be.
This dress could work, what do you think of it?” she said turning back to the dress the other girl had pointed out. She liked it okay but she didn’t think it was for her, a little too prom dressy for her taste. She wanted something more simple for Beltane.
