Mandi doubted the girl would ever have enough time to summon her broom and if she did, she'd be hexed before she realized what happened. However, Mandi didn't want to state this fact to Elle. It was better to be optimistic instead of pessimistic, but Mandi had fallen into a pessimistic mood ever since the attacks. Her father had tried to help her at one point in time, but she had been unable to see his help.
Mandi's attention turned back to Elle as she sighed. "No point in thinking it'll happen again. I don't think the Death Eaters would risk another attack. Besides the Ministry has probably raised security around Hogsmeade, expecting an attack. We're going to be fine," Mandi forced a smile as she took a drink of her Butterbeer. It was getting warm and she quickly took another drink of the cold liquid. She could at least enjoy it will it was cool.
"So, when are you going to go shopping for the rest of your things?" Mandi asked as she sat her bottle back down on the table. She smiled as she waited for Elle's reply.

Elle knew she wouldn't be able to do all of the things she said in time, but she liked to at least pretend to have a plan. (OOC: As said in her profile, her weakness is pretending that everything will be okay in the end)
"Yeah," she said, "I bet the Ministry's watching super closely now. If you want, you can come with me and we can get my school shopping done now. And then maybe in a little bit, we can come back here for lunch."
Already getting up, she picked up her drink and motioned for Mandi to follow, "I don't wanna rush you or anything, if you don't want to come you don't have to. But now that I think of it, the term is starting really soon and I want to have all my supplies before then so I don't accidentally forget something in that back-to-school hurry mode everyone turns to a week before things start up."

Mandi bit her bottom lip as she thought about going. She was supposed to come to pick up a notebook and then go directly home, but that was over an hour ago. It was a miracle her father wasn't out looking for her now. She tried to manage the time in her head as she thought. If she was only out for another half hour, maybe her dad wouldn't realize she was gone so long. On the other hand, she had promised him to be back a while ago. She sighed as she came to her decision. 'I'm going to get it when I get home,' she thought as she came to her conclusion. She picked up her drink as she stood. "I guess we could go..." Mandi said, but the words barely left her lips when she heard a familiar voice behind her. 'Mandi.'
Mandi turned and stood face to face with her father. He seemed to be concerned about her and she wondered how long he had been looking for her before he found her. Mandi turned back to Elle and smiled. "Maybe I can meet you later. Looks like I have to go. I'll see you later Elle," Mandi said as her father placed an arm around her shoulder and directed her from the shop.
'You have any idea how long I've been looking for you?' he asked as he held her close to him. "I'm sorry dad. I lost track of time. I was talking with Elle and then...I'm sorry," Mandi said as they arrived at the transportation house. 'I thought there'd been another attack, but I hadn't been notified. You need to stop running off like this. It's not safe for anyone, especially you,' he said as they walked into the building. Taking the Floo Powder in hand Mandi quickly threw it in the fire and stepped inside. She immediately spun back home with the words 'It's not safe for anyone, especially you,' running through her mind.
((Sorry to end it here, but my character needed to get back home. I thought it'd be a little creative to do it this way.))

Elle looked at Mandi's father. Acts just like mine would, Elle thought, if he knew how bad Diagon Alley was. But luckily, he doesn't.
Elle nodded at her father, waved goodbye to Mandi, and stepped out of Catalina's Cubby, intent on doing some of her school shopping.
I had planned to do this stuff alone, she thought. Plenty of time to do some thinking and reflecting. Now, she got her wish, as she strolled down the little dirt roads of Hogsmeade.
