Dana listened to Nasser’s words without saying a word. She even suffocated the random wish to snort with amusement when Nasser stated that he wasn’t prejudiced against purebloods. If he was against purebloods, then he wouldn’t be friends with Dana either as se was most surely a pureblood. She had been close to Slytherin in her sorting as well, even if she had been sorted quickly. But Dana took it as a compliment that she had been considered worthy for Slytherin as well. That house was the hardest to get into, putting very clear borders in the ways of those who wanted to enter the house. The people from who you were born being the first stop at this, because only purebloods were allowed in Slytherin. But by the time Nasser finished his small speech – hadn’t they already discussed this matter already? – Dana was frowning. She opened her mouth once before shutting it and letting Nasser’s comment about Crabbe being a mindless follower go. Vince could stand up for himself and it wasn’t Dana’s place to start arguing the other point. She just wanted this discussion to be done and over with.
Dana closed her eyes gathering her thoughts for a moment before turning and leaning her hip slightly on the window-sill before speaking: “And how do you know what I need? I don’t need head-turning passion. Love can be learned, it can grow out of respect and friendship if the other stays faithfully by your side through both good and bad. Maybe Vince would be just the pillar I could lean on to be able to handle life? You don’t know him so how can you tell for sure we wouldn’t fit, that we couldn’t have conversations, laugh together or that he doesn’t care for people?” Dana paused letting her words hang in the air. Dana fully suspected that she would never be IN love with Vince. But what would stop her from loving him? Loving someone and being in love with someone were two completely different things. But those thoughts were for herself and Dana was not planning on sharing them with anyone. “And quite frankly this conversations right now is quite pointless. I’m not Vince’s girlfriend, I’m not his date and right now our relationship is quite barely bordering on friendship. Do I want him here? I don’t miss him. I wouldn’t be bothered if he was here. His family sent flowers and their sympathy with them which I appreciate.”
Dana waved calmly to a leaving relative across the room the serene look on her face not betraying the least bit the discussion she was having with Nasser. Agreeing to shout coming towards her that they should go shopping some day Dana watched the relative leaving before she turned her eyes back towards Nasser, her eyes narrowed just the tiniest bit as Dana spoke quietly, but none the less sternly: “Three men would have the right to interfere with my life: my grandfather, brother and my boyfriend. You are none of them. So I will not tolerate any more about my relationship – as platonic as it is – with Vince or with anyone from you. I will think about cutting my ties with Vince only when Kris requests me to do so with good reasons why I should because he is the only one with the right to ask that of me.” Dana drilled her eyes into Nasser’s hoping that the point would get through to him as Dana turned and walked slowly towards the tables with food laid out on them glancing back over her shoulder to Nasser calmly her voice calm once again: “There will be no extra dinner prepared anymore tonight so would you like to eat something?”
