Juliette waited patiently in the Duel classroom for the two students in today's duel to arrive. The classroom itself was rather bland, chairs around the walls of the rooms while an enormous padded mat lay in the center of the room. While she waited she sat down at a desk and began a bit of light reading, the latest issue of Dragons aren't Dangerous had just arrived and there was a fascinating article on Welsh Greens.

Maria turned her head at the clock in the Gryffindor common room. In just fifth teen minutes her duel would begin. Mia and Elina had decided to have a friendly duel together. It could help her with her choice after Hogwarts. But becoming and Aurror did not seem to be what she wanted but it was a suggestion. Putting her dark red diary under her pillow Mia looked in the mirror and pulled her hair into a nice pony tail. She did not want it to mess her up and this was a way to show if she was paying attention in Defense against the dark arts. It was always like Mia to pay attention in class and never be distracted. But lately her mind was wondering on other things that seemed to make her feel some what special inside. Picking up her shoulder bag she took out a book on dueling and opened it up and walked out of the common room reading.
Walking down the hallway towards the dueling class room. Her mind wondered with thoughts of Quidditch and even Harry Potter's outburst in Arithmancy. There was another kid napping taken place and Julie Rosewood was the person. Mia did not know the girl but knew she must have been valuable for the dark lord use. Just a couple months ago Ginny Weasley was kid napped but found and safe in sound at her house. Maria was glad that Ginny was alright and wished that the kid napping could be stopped. It made her angry that something was happening in the school that no one wanted the students to know. That would seem to cause more danger on everyone parts. Scowling out the window Mia took a deep breath in and continued down the hall. She could not lose her mind at the moment and had to think about the duel that would be taken place in a few minutes.
After entering the dueling class room Mia set her bag down not he flour and walked over towards Professor Vector. Smiling at the older women she said, "Good evening Professor Vector. How has you day been?” Mia smiled even more and walked up to the stand and waited for Elina to come.

Just that -but of course, it stands to reason that - that disappointment and jealousy can lead to - I mean - take you for instance - your attentions to - to - customers and - and well, teachers might easily be misinterpreted mightn't they? I mean, now honestly - mightn't they? Elina found herself reciting Meredith Wilson's "The Music Man." A musical that she had thoroughly enjoyed when she had seen it on Broadway in the States. She often found herself reciting Marian Paroo's parts and wondered if she could ever become an actress. As good as she did act and memorize her lines, she would have to be insane to act on stage in front of...people. No, Elina thought, I will stick with witchcraft. Something I am rather good at. She glanced at the clock, Speaking of magic.. Elina stood up from her seat from the armchair in front of the fire and grabbed her cloak, draped it around her shoulder, and made her way out of the Ravenclaw common room.
Elina, for some reason or another, had agreed to duel her best friend Mia that day, and was edging upon being late once in her life. She would never believe it if she was indeed late. As she walked, she pulled her hair up into a perfect ponytail, then braided it. Tied the end with a dark blue bow, and tightened it. She buckled her shoes, which in her scurrying, hadn't been properly put on. Elina normally wasn't such a wreck as she was at the moment, actually, Elina was always perfectly prompt and wonderfully calm. Today was definitely an exception. She had slept in, dragged her homework on so that it took nearly 2 hours to finish, when normally it only takes 40 minutes; she hadn't read at all, and to top it off she was going to be late for this duel.
"The Saints be praised!" She exclaimed, out of breath, as she entered the duelling classroom in her brisk manner. Smiling slightly at Mia, she set her things down near the wall, and made her way across from Mia, "I'm sorry I'm late Professor. I wasn't watching the time. Shall we?" She asked with a nod and a smile to Professor Vector. She wondered how this duel would turn out, would Elina's friendship with Mia be ruined if Elina did win? Or, would Mia be greatful? What if Elina didn't win? What would happen then? Elina sighed, wondering still on how this would turn out.

Professor Vector stood up when the second girl entered the classroom out of breath. "That's quite alright Miss Hill, now please take your place on that red star there" she said pointing to the east side of the room, "now miss Fleming if you'll please take your spot on the yellow square there" she said pointing to the opposite side of the room. "Miss Fleming you arrived first, you may have the first turn. Now, both of you, draw your wands, face your opponent and bow. Now then, whenever you are ready Miss Fleming, you may begin."

Maria looked at the yellow square on the other end of the stand. Taking a deep breath she walked over towards it and looked at her friend. Would their friendship be ruined if Maria won or Elina won? Maria did not know, but she told herself to start out simple and work her way up. She did not want to hurt her friend at all, that would be quite cruel on her part. Taking another deep breath she grinned and walked up the center and faced Elina. Bowing she took out her wand and walked back to the yellow square. Hearing the sounds of foot beats she waited until no other voice was heard. Turning around Maria pointed her wand right at the center of Elina, "Expelliarmus" she said watching the trick of light head towards her best friend.

Elina nodded and smiled, while making her way to the red star. She watched as Mia did the same only on the yellow square. Once Mia was situated, Elina bowed and withdrew her wand, and held it at the ready position. Mia began with Expelliarmus, and immediately spells ran through Elina's mind. Was there one for Expelliarmus? No. She didn't think so, so Elina did whatever she could, "Expelliarmus!" She only hoped the light, if it left her wand even, would hit Mia's light and make it so neither of the spells hit either of the opponents. She waited, and hoped.
((Alright, I hope that was fine. I searched and found nothing so I do hope it's alright I used the same spell. If not...sorry))

(( Maria casts Expelliarmus, she has a 100% chance of success so no roll is needed for this spell.
Elina casts expelliarmus which is not the correct defense so no roll is needed here either.
Elina is hit by the full force of the spell.
Score - Maria 1.0 Elina 0
Elina if you don't know what the spells are they are all listed in the dueling club page ))
"A well cast spell Ms. Fleming" Juliette said as she stepped between the girls. "Ms. Hill, retrieve your wand then cast your first spell when you're ready."

((Oh! I overlooked it! Oh, well...))
Elina sighed and retrieved her wand, sending Mia a warm smile, she raised her wand to the position before and smiled again. She ran through spells in her mind, spells she could use. Elina was a skilled witch, spent most of her time studying and such, but she didn't know if these spells would effect Mia. There were many spells Elina knew, and she settled on, "Tarantallegra." As the words escaped her lips, she wondered if Mia would defend herself or if Elina would be amused by the dancing that would soon take place.

Maria smiled as her spell worked. Like before she did not wish to hurt Elina with a level D spell. But she was working her way up, and craling slowly. After Elina had gathered herself up she sent a spel her way. Right away Maria's mind thought of a way to protect herself. Dancing was not much of her thing so she needed to act fast. "Protego!" she said hoping the barrier well come before her. Maria learned that spell in her second year and in many of the books she read.

"Well done Miss Hill" Professor Vector said as she waved her wand to eliminate the remaining effects of the spell from Maria. "Miss Fleming, it is now your turn again."

A barrier formed in front of Maria and casted the spell away from her. A smile of success was on her face as she watched what happen. All her hard work was finally paying off, and she was really feeling better about her descion into the magical world. But not one duel could make her path, but herself. Taking a deep breath, Maria continue her way up. "Infrunites Poematic Eloquor!" She said thinking long and heard on what spell to use. This might be fun to hear what Elina had to say in ryhmes, watching the other trick of light head towards her friend.

Elina recognized that spell immediately. She hated that spell. She hated ryhming. So she naturally hated that spell. Elina was determined to not let that spell hit her, so she quickly came to mind, "Protego." Was all she said. And she watched. Waited. She wanted to see what would happen, not really wanting to speak in rhymes, afraid of what might happen.

Juliette watched as the spell hit Elina full force. Quickly she cast the counter curse to break the spell. "Miss Hill, you may cast your next spell when ready."

Elina mentally cursed herself but, regained her thoughts and brought her wand back up. She looked at Mia, and wondered which spell to use. Her mind pulled a blank. But, she didn't stop thinking,. She bit her lip and then it came to her, "Rudicio." She said, with clear diction. She felt the magic leave the tip of her wand and waited to see. Knowing that Mia would probably back fire the spell, cast.

Maria watched as the spell hit Elina full force. A shot of gulit ran through her as she sighed with relief as Professor Vector said the counter curse. There were some things that needed to be kept secert, and not in silly ryhmes. Maria resepected other peoples privacy and own thoughts, ecspaially Elna's. The two girls knew each other since her fourth year. Smiling Maria watched as Elina sent another spell her way. She knew the protection charm, but wondered if to use it or not. This was a friendly duel, and would get boring is Maria kept blocking her friends spells and sending her own at full force. Sighing, Maria pulled her wand up and said, "Protego" wondering if the barrier well form or not.

Juliette watched the two beams hit in mid air, but Elina's was stronger this time and it struck Maria causing her to shrink a couple of inches. "Well done Miss Hill" She said while waving her wand at Maria, "Engorgio" and returned her to her normal size. "This is our last round, Miss Fleming, when you are ready."

Maria felt smaller as part of Elina's spell worked. Smiling as she came back to full size she clapped her hands for her friend. This most be a big achivement on her part and Maria wondered if to use something more diffcult. With seven years she could but with her friend, she didnt know. Taking a deep breath, she brought her wand back up and said, "Chaleur baton" hoping the heat from the spell wouldn't burn Elina's hand while droping her wand.

Elina giggled quietly as Mia shrank some, but then straightened up when Professor Vector told that is Mia's turn to cast a spell. Wand at the ready, Elina's feet perched on teh ground with great balance, she waited for the spell in which was to head her way. Mia finally spoke the words and the counterspell immediately came to mind. She opened her mouth and tried to mutter the words but, couldn't. As the light continued towards her, Elina tried again. The light was inches away from her face now, beads of sweat appeared on her forehead, "Feu Résistez!" She finally said. Her words with strength. And just in the knick of time...

Elina sighed with relief, and repositioned herself. She brought her wand back up, thankful that it wasn't seering her hand and thought of a spell that could tie them. And she thought hard. Then it came, but she wondered if Mia was afraid of rats. A small sly smile crossed her lips, suddenly she didn't think so, "Vermillious Attaqikus." She wondered if rats would actually swarm around Mia, what an interesting spell.
