He laughed as she tried to grab hold of her hands and prevent a fist full of snow from going down beneath the lays of his shirt.
"Hey, that was not breaking a truce...it was...getting even!"
He laughed as he managed to grag one hand and pull it away fron him, thought they both still had one free hand and he used his to form another snowfall.

Sethia tried to fight Payton as he grabbed hold of her hands to stop her from putting snow in his shirt. “How was that getting even? We were in the middle of a snowball fight and then you called truce, not I and then when I did give in you hit me with a snowball,” she half laughing.
One of her hands became free and she held Payton’s free hand by the wrist so he would not throw another snowball at her, “Oh no you don’t, you aren’t getting me so easy again Payton,” she told him.

He was stil fighing back laughing as they struggled against one another, one of his hands holding her wrist and his other wrist in her hand.
"Okay...fine....fine...truce....real truce..."
Still loosing his battle with his laughter, he release the snowball he was fomring and let thepacked flakes fall to the ground between them.

Sethia laughed at the two of them struggled against the other to resist being pummelled with another snowball.
Payton called for a truce, a real truce so he claimed, “Do you swear this time, that this is a real truce and not another pretence?” she said to him. He released the snowball from his hand and Sethia was prone to believe this truce was for real. She let go of his wrist and slowly went back to her former position, and she was still laughing.

"Merlin's honor. Real truce this time."
He too rolled over so he lay on his back again, lookin up at the sky, grey from the clouds from the earlier snow, which had now settled into light flurries.
"So, what do you think you are going to say in that letter to you aunt?"

“Okay,” Sethia told him, she was breathing a little hard from laughing so much.
“I don’t know. What do you think about this: Aunt Hetty may I go to spend Christmas with a boy who breaks truces and throws snowballs at me? Love Seth.” She told him with a grin. “No, really, I think I’ll tell her that I found a much better solution to me staying at the farm alone or here at school when all of my friends are gone. I have a friend, Payton and he has offered, with his dad’s permission to have me stay with them over the holidays. Write me back, yada yada yada,” she said. “It’ll be something like that.”
He was laughing at her first verion of the letter, just imagining the look on her Aunt's face when she read a letter saying Sethia was going to spend Christmas with someone who threw snowballs at her. The second version sounded much more reasonable, but then there was no fun in that.
"What? Noting about how cute I am?"
After all, he had to reply to his Pop's letter with an answer to that very question, was only fair that she meantioned his own charming appearance...

Sethia laughed at Payton’s cute statement, “Oh I’m sorry, I knew I was forgetting a key component to this letter, P.S Aunt he’s really cute, with a smiley face on the end. How’s that sound?” she asked him still smiling and laughing a little.
“So how exactly do you plan to reply to your dad without his letter as a reference?” she said cheekily; his letter was still safely tucked away in her jacket pocket.

He grinned at her sugestion and nodded. She had taken it one step beyond just cute, to really cute--not that he was complaining.
"Really cute...I think I can live with that, as long as you underline the really"
When she asked about his own response to the question over whether she was cute he stayed silent for a moment, his eyebrows raised the only sure sign that he was plotting something.
"I plan on telling my father that you are not cute at all. Maybe I will state it just like that. 'Pops, She, yes thats right, she, is not cute in the slightest'"
He paused for a moment, grinning rather brightly his eyebrows still high as he wondered if she remembered what he has said about her durring their first conversation in the common room.
"I think beautiful is a better description."

Sethia smiled, “I think I can swing that one; mental note, underline ‘really’ in my letter to aunt Hetty.”
Sethia looked at Payton’s face, his eyebrow was raised which meant he had something going through his mind. Sethia’s face fell when Payton told her he would not be telling his father she was cute. Did that mean he didn’t think that she was cute?
She smiled and gave him a playful poke as he said that beautiful would best describe her, she had almost forgotten what he had told her the night they first got to talking. “Payton,” she said, “that’s sweet.”
He was grinning as he shrugged, as if he had said nothing out of the ordinary; besides it wans;t as if he hadn't told it to her before.
"Well, if I get poked for saying something sweet, its lucky for me then thats what the truth happened to be this time, because with you rarm I would have a black eye until Christmas if it wasn't."
He flashed her a bright, playful grin before running his hand over the top of the freshly fallen snow, sending a soft spray towards her--trying to do just enough to get th epoint across with out breaking their truce.

“Yeah you get poked for sweet things,” she told Payton; she liked this, just lazing around with Payton talking and having fun. “Yeah you would have one,” she teased him when he told her he would have a black eye if he had something that wasn’t true.
Payton sent a shower of snow towards her, that landed on her eyelashes and stayed there, it also scattered over her blonde hair. She sent one back towards him with a big smile. “Payton we’re friends right? It happened so fast, just the other day we were talking for the first time in the common room and now we are planning me coming to spend Christmas with your family.”
She played in the snow with her fingers, “I like you Payton,” she said absently, “I mean, I like spending time with you,” she adjusted what she said.

"Of course we are friends" True, it had happened fast, but there wasn't anything wrong with that. Sometimes things just worked with someone, His father had apparently married his birth mother on the first day they met....wait, perhaps that was not the best example.
Hearing the words 'I like you' come from her mouth brought a bigger smile to his face than he had for a while, even if she tried to cover it after by saying that she liked spending me with him, she had still said it, and he couldn't even imagine hearing something so wonderful. Of course the thought of that and color started to come to his cheeks, hearing those words meant a lot....and the fact that it meant so much to him, meant even more.
"I like you too, and not just spending time with you"

Sethia smiled when Payton told her that they were friends, she was happy to hear him say it. Her parents had known each other all their lives when they got married. Her mother lived on the farm next to her dad’s and they were born three years apart. They grew up together and were friends up until her second year of college when things changed. Sethia’s father started seeing her mother as a girl, and not just one of the boys anymore, and it all occurred because one of his friends had questioned him about her because he wanted to date her. It was funny how people fell in love.
Payton flushed and Sethia knew she was doing the same. She had not meant to tell Payton she liked him, but it had come out of its own accord and there was no taking it back, even if she had tried to cover it up. She was slightly embarrassed by it actually. She looked at the snow, not sure what to say, but then Payton told her he liked her and not just pending time with her and she looked at him surprised, but a smile soon followed.
“Really?” she asked him, “I like you too, and I didn’t mean just spending time with you,” she confessed. To hear Payton say those words sent a thrill through her, no one had ever told her anything like that, but she wasn’t sure what he meant, but what she hoped he meant was enough to make her blush even more. She liked him, she realised and as more than just her friend. But the question was, could a popular, outgoing guy like a somewhat shy farm girl?

To him it was amazing what a few words like I like you, coming from a specific person could do. They could change everything and make the word feel like it was suddenly spinning in the other direction. It was also amazing that after the number of times he had this conversation with girls, it always seemed like it was the first time....
He paused for a moment, trying to regain his own thoughts before he looked over at her, and after a slight hesitation he reached a hand out and let his fingers interlace with hers. It wasn't the first time that he had held her hand, but after what they had said, it was now taking on a whole new meaning.

Sethia lay there in the snow, blushing. Her cheeks were red against her pale skin, it was amazing how the cold could drain the colour from a complexion, making her seem even more red. She said nothing and neither did Payton, and she found herself wondering how their revelations had just changed their relationship, or had it? Sethia was new to this, where Payton was not, he knew more than she did, understood relationships better and what she was feeling. Sethia would admit that her feelings were a bit confusing to her, it was like her mind was all over the place and her stomach was doing the cha-cha-cha all at the same time.
She bit her lip nervously, her fingers still playing in the snow, she had to tell Nasser about this and get his opinion of the situation, he was a boy, he would understand a guy’s mind. She was still moving snow between her fingers when Payton interlaced his fingers in hers. She smiled at him, her stomach felt like there were a flock of bird in there, flapping their wings frantically. Before when they had held hands, she had felt something but now that feeling was multiplied tenfold.

He sat still for a moment, looking ahead and not speaking before a grin broke out across his face and he looked over at her.
"Well, we have letters to get to don't we?"
He then releazed his hold on her hand and pulled it away so that he could push himself up. Once standing he turned around to face her again and offered his hands down to her so he could help her up.

Sethia looked at Payton with a quizzical expression as a grin spread across his face, the little mechanisms in his head were at work she knew, and she wondered what mischief they were plotting now.
She smiled, “Yes we do,” he let go over her hand and stood offering her hand again, this time to help her up. Sethia took it and pulled herself up off the ground, she had to brush the snow off of her clothes. “You’re going back to the dorm too?” she asked him, “I’ll have company back if you are,” she said with a smile.

He nodded when she asked if he was heading back to the dorm, thoug h he had yet to actually start moving. Instead he stood in front of Sethia, still smiling at her.
"Yeah, all my letter stuff is in my dorm...and I do have to break the news to Pops."
His smile faded into a grin, his focus still on her.
"Unless you want to spend the afternoon some other way to tourment everyone by not writign them quite yet."

Sethia stood in front of Payton, just a few traces of snow in her hair. She smiled back at him as he suggested they torment everyone by delaying their reply. “I suppose we could do that, for a day. It won’t hurt just make them a little more eager for news.”
“So if we aren’t going to write our respective letters, what are we going to do?” she asked him, and then began to walk towards the fountain. Walking was something Sethia enjoyed, she did it mostly when she was nervous or just wanted to think, and at that moment it was a little bit of both for her.
A few steps later she was standing next to the fountain looking at the frozen water, then she turned to Payton smiling, “So?” she asked and waited for a reply.
