Lily was in awe of Kat's story. "That's amazing. I love animals, too. My favorites are cats. I have a black one, named Midnight. She is in my room at the moment, but maybe you would like to meet her later."

“Yep, I’d love to meet Midnight. She sounds like a cutie,” Kat smiled brightly, “Animals are just too great. I’m so sorry, Hogwarts doesn’t have very many animals. I’d love to see the ones in the Forest as well, but I think I’ll wait a year or two, before I’ll go wandering off there.”
“I just bought my brother a kitten for Christmas. Luckily he and our dog get along nicely,” Kat told with Lily with a smile, while pulling up her leg, to tie the sneaker-lace that had came open, “You know, I’m glad I came out here and met you.”
“What do you think about Hogwarts on the whole though?” Kat asked curiously.

Lily smiled. "I'm glad I met you, too." Kat then asked what she thought of Hogwarts. "Well, I like things here, so far. I'm glad to finaly have friends. My father kept me on such a short leash when I was home that I never really had any friends. I'm dreading some of my classes, though. Like, I have heard terrible things about this Professor Snape."

“Snape – he isn’t that bad. Well, he is snappish and has one hell of an attitude, but he is smart too. I mean, which other teacher would have us brewing from the first class? A waste of ingredients on the whole. In a lot of schools the first year in potions is still spent on only theory,” Kat said staring into the fountain thoughtfully, as she pulled her fingers through it, “On the whole he’s not half that bad, if you don’t let his remarks get to you. Personally I rather enjoy the verbal sparring with him.”
“Besides – you have heard the stories of him being the ‘greasy git’ – you don’t know him personally, so how can you be sure that really is the whole truth? I mean that kind of behaivour is already almost expected of him. And the detentions - they just prepare us for what to expect, if we should ever decide to apprentice potions,” Katwinked, "Even though the bonus of freeing him of boring job is probably a plus for him."

Lily thought a moment before saying "I guess you're right. I mean, I won't slack off or anything. I can probably handle it. Do we maybe have it at the same time?"

"Snape has all first, second and third years together in class the next time, so yep," Kat answered with a smile.
((you can sign up for the class under 'plots'. There's a topic there by Snape called Potions class' Just sign your name there and then you jsut have to wait for the class to be started by Snape))
"I wonder what he'll be doing then though... I mean we are all going to be in so different levels in potions," KAt said with a bit of hesitation, "Maybe some potion, that we are supposed to do in groups?"
"Anyway we've got to be able to talk about something besides classes, right?" Kat said with a grin on her face once again. She couldn't help it - she was in a great mood.

"Yeah...so, ready to get the hair dye out?" Lily asked with a slight mischievious grin on her face. "Besides," Lily added, "From the way you describe your brother, I can't wait to see how he reacts to it."

Kat pulled out her wand and eyed the castle warily. "I hope this will work," She said with a roll of her eyes adding as an afterthought, after standing up and stepping a few steps away, "And I hope no-one is in the way."
"Accio potions book!" Kat summoned for hte book, with a charm an older Ravenclaw had taught her. The charm didn't work at first, until Kat sighed, closed her eyes and concentrated the third time. "ACCIO BOOK!" She shouted and a moment later the leather-bound book came whizzing towards her.
“This spell can be dangerous,” Kat wheezed, as the book knocked the air out of her for a moment, “Now, let’s see.”
Kat thumbed through the book, looking the said potion rather quickly and reading how it’s made. “Yep, will work, but for short-term change they suggest a charm, which will hold for 10 minutes and I’ll have to place it on anyway before drinking the potion.”
Kat ‘accio’d for her camera, which came quicker than the book had came, before handing the book to Lily and pointed at the charm: “I can’t really charm it myself, so you’ll have to do the honors.”
Lily looked at her warily. "Are you crazy? I have never done this before!"

"I guessed that much, as you didn't know the charm," Kat said with an ironic lift of her eye-brow, "but I can't really do it myself now, can I? Besides - if everything goes wrong we can always Flitwick to change my hair back."
Kat smirked and pushed her hand through her waist-long hair, getting it loose from the pony-tail it was in: "In the worst scenario I'll just have to say by to my natural hair-color for a bit longer than 10 minutes. Just go ahead and do it. Or do Jaft or Jordan want to try?"

Lily grinned. "No, I think I can do it." Lily caqrefully looked up the spell and soon Kat's hair was a beautiful red. They took the picture for safekeeping and sent a note to her brother along with it. Lily looked at Kat. "so...worst-case scenario about your brother?"

"I'll get a letter from him," Kat shrugged with a grin, "Nothing much. Maybe some friendly teasing, nothing more. Jake knows I like my hair-color, so he knows I wouldn't dye it permanently."
Kat grinned eyeing her now red-hair from the reflection in the fountain: "Although I have to admit, that this color is not bad at all either."

Lily grinned. "I hope you're right. I wouldn't want to get you into any trouble... although I do rather like that color on you."

Lily turned to Jaft with yet another mischievious smile. "Green? Is that a challenge? I think I shall have to accept it, if it is you who would be my guinea pig. "

Lily rolled her eyes. "patrience, my dear. Patience." Then, in a matter of minutes, Jaft had forest green hair. "Just as you wished." Lily, now quite pleased with herself, beamed at Jaft's satisfaction.
