Rayne was in a horrible mood first off her brother was being a real person about things and had just sent her an owl telling her to bugger off about his soon to be wife. Then she spent three hours re doing her homework because she'd gotten a spell mixed up. The fact that she hadn't been sleeping well didn't make things any better. In a terrible mood Rayne grabbed her cloak from her trunk and stormed out of the common room.
Not sure where she was going exactly Rayne found herself walking towards the entrance hall. She decided to go outside, maybe the cold would help her clear her head. As she walked out into the courtyard Rayne found that it was snowing it kind of surprised her though it shouldn't have after all it was winter.
Wandering around aimlessly Rayne decided to try and catch snow flakes on her tounge. It was something she did when it was she was little with her brother before his fiance came between them. It brought back good memories and helped her to calm down a little. Walking around with her eyes closed trying to catch snowflakes Rayne accidentally bumped into another person.
"Oh I'm so sorry." Rayne said reaching down to help the person up.

“Waitin’, watchin’ the clock, it’s four o’clock, it’s got to stop. Tell him, take no more, she practices her speech as he opens the door, she rolls over... Pretends to sleep as he looks her over. She lies and says she’s in love with him, can’t find a better man... She dreams in colour, she dreams in red, can’t find a better man... Can’t find a better man
Talkin’ to herself, there’s no one else who needs to know... She tells herself, oh... Memories back when she was bold and strong, and waiting for the world to come along... Swears she knew it, now she swears he’s gone. She lies and says she’s in love with him, can’t find a better man... She dreams in colour, she dreams in red, can’t find a better man... Yeah...
She loved him, yeah...she don’t want to leave this way. She feeds him, yeah...that’s why she’ll be back again. Can’t find a better man. Can’t find a better...man... Ohh...ohh...” Mary sang while lying on her bed. Adrift in a sea of green Mary decided she needed a break from the colour. The colour hurt, it was the colour of expectation and implied promises gone unfulfilled for her right now.
Getting out of bed she took off her green shirt and replaced it with a black one. She then put on a black pair of boots that could barely be seen under her black pants. She then grabbed her black winter cloak and took out her gloves from her pocket. Noticing they were dark green she threw them across the room with as much strength as her fury provided. Seeing as they were merely gloves they didn’t do much damage though so she took out her wand and pointed it at her nightstand. She watched it fly apart into pieces all through the room. Her anger had not dissipated though so Mary flung the reminisce of the nightstand across the room with a scream and a few tears. Picking up a red pair of gloves for some colour Mary stormed out of the room leaving the mess for the houseelves.
Not even watching where she was headed Mary noticed she was crunching through snow outside. Seeing red she found herself on the path to the courtyard and walked faster not paying attention to anything around her. Next thing Mary knew she was on the ground nursing a pain in her left wrist. The feel of the pain had caused the anger to flow out of her and Mary realised how silly she had been. The girl standing above her reached down and apologized. “No harm no foul. I'm Mary Evans.” Mary said accepting the hand and pulling herself up with a weak grin. She may not be angry anymore but that sure didn’t mean she was no longer hurting.

Rayne helped the girl up who introduced herself as Mary Evans. She couldn't help but notice that the girl seemed to be hurt. "I'm sorry I'm soo sorry I didn't mean to hurt you I just wasn't paying attention..." Rayne stopped realizing that she was rambling.
"Here let me help." She said muttering a spell that she had learned from one of her books. "There that should help ease the pain." she said pocketing her wand.
"I'm Rayne by the way Rayne Athingyer. Weird last name I know come to think of it my first name isn't so normal either." She said laughing slightly then shrugged
"Oh well nothing I can do about it now is there. Oh I've done it again. Sorry I'm kinda upset and I tend to ramble on pointlessly when that happens. Just tell me to shut up when I get to annoying..." She quickly stopped wincing slightly afraid that she'd scared off the new comer.

The girl then helped Mary with her wrist and apologized once again. “Oh I'm just fine don’t worry. Thank you though” Mary said as she turned around her now heeled wrist. Mary listened feeling better with an amused little grin on her face as the girl babbled. She introduced herself as Rayne Athingyer and told Mary to stop her if she got annoying. “Oh don’t worry I babble all the time. It’s always nice to meet someone who shares that. A lot of people often think I'm insane because of the amount that I babble when a topic hits me but… all I'm saying is I don’t mind at all.” Mary was then hit with a gust of cold air that made her shiver from head to toe. “So what are you doing out on a godforsaken day such as this?” Mary asked. ((sorry its so short I have trouble writting when I'm annoyed - thats why I couldnt do it yesterday as well )

Rayne smiled when Mary told her that she babbled to. She was sure glad that she wasn't the only one that had that habit. It was one that drove most of her family insane... She silently swore she would not think of that she refused to go down that memory lane.
"I'm out here because I couldn't deal with the people in the castle anymore." Rayne said shrugging as she picked up some snow off the ground. "I just kind of left the common room and found myself out here. Then I was catching snow flakes on my tounge and that's when I accidentally bumped into you." She said throwing the newly made snow ball at a nearby tree.
Rayne shivered as another blast of icy cold wind hit her and tightened her cloak around her before asking. "What about you why are you out here?"

Mary smiled as Rayne told her why she was out there; not out of cruelty just glad that she wasn’t the only one wandering out in the cold due to annoyance. “Guys! They suck! They are never around when you fell like a little attention; not the ones you want to be there at least. I mean call me demanding but I like a little attention every once and awhile right? Oh gosh now I'm not only babbling but I'm whining I'm so sorry.” Mary said to Rayne.

Rayne laughed when Mary started ranting on guys. "No no no you aren't whining I agree whole heartedly guys are pathetic. I absolutely despise them." She said throwing a snowball rather hard at the tree so that the snow went everywhere.
"You know my brother is being a real..." Rayne stopped packing the snow in another snowball trying to think of a word to describe what her brother was being. "Pain." She said resuming her snow packing.
"He's being a real pain in my arse about things. He's getting married and I am completely opposed to it. You know I caught that wench cheating on him. Does he believe me? No no he doesn't he tells me to bugger off and that I'm lying to him... Oh sorry you probably don't want to hear this." She said throwing yet another snowball.

Mary grinned as Rayne agreed about men. “And what I hate most about them is that I can’t hate them; I love them too much. I depend on guys too much for my own happiness to hate them. Oh my gosh you can so tell I belong in Slytherin from that statement.” Mary said and then began to laugh.
Rayne then told Mary about her brother and his cheating fiancé. “Blinded by “love” what can you do?” Mary said disgust in her voice as she said the word love. Rayne then apologized for ranting to her. “Oh no I don’t mind at all. I'm just one of those people you know, everybody comes to me and unless its like my mother or something I don’t mind. I wish I had a brother though. Have you meet Kris Graas? He’s like a big brother to me, but even then it’s not the same. But I can’t imagine him talking some girls word over mine. How long until the wedding? Maybe you can bring him back to his senses.” Mary said with a cold little smile, which showed to the world she was willing to help in any plot Rayne may be brewing.

"Yeah I agree whole heartedly. While I don't have a boyfriend now I know I have my eye on them. I hate them because they don't know but at the same time I hate myself for hating them and then I hate myself when I don't hate them." Rayne said frustrated.
"Yeah he's blinded by "love." Rayne said throwing another snowball as hard as she could when she said the word love. Rayne looked thoughtful when Mary mentioned Kris Graas. "I think I've met him he's Slytherin right? Yeah I met him now that I think about it I met him in the Music Room or something when I couldn't sleep. I'd like to get to know him better but chances are he'd never talk to me again after all he is a fifth year Slytherin..." Rayne trailed off thinking.
Shaking her head she came back into reality. "As for changing his mind I'd love to change his mind the wedding isn't until the end of the year. Would you like to help me 'change his mind?" Rayne asked a mischevious smile playing on her face.

Mary nodded her head in agreement to Rayne’s sentiments on the love hate relationship she has with the male species. “Yes you should get to know Kris he’s great; the exception to most of the bad guy things. And you are very likely to meet him again. That what I have found in this school, ages and houses don’t affect friendships much. Kris isn’t the cliché Slytherin either; he doesn’t believe in to all the pureblood stuff. I'm finding there are a number of us who don’t give in to all the propaganda.” Mary said.
“A whole year nearly? I would love to help fix his perspective.” Mary said with a mischievous grin to match Rayne’s. “Have anything in mind? If not I'm sure we can come up with something.” Mary said with a giggle why lying back in the snow and making an angel.
Standing up to admire her work Mary took out her wand and placed devil horns and a tail on the angel. Giggling she replaced her wand and looked at Rayne. “It’s a guy see. You can tell because it’s the devil masquerading as an angel.”<br>

Rayne sighed when Mary mentioned getting to know Kris. "I don't know I don't think I'll be seeing him again. I know that ages and houses don't affect friendships much but it's just a feeling I have." Rayne shrugged before dropping to the ground.
"As for having something in mind I had a few ideas but none that I liked I bet you and I together could come up with some wicked idea's." Rayne says looking over at Mary. "I like the Devil snow angel by the way looks just like most of the men here at school not to mention my brother." She says laughing.

Mary grinned as Rayne suggested that together they could come up with some great ideas. She did not know either her brother nor his fiancé so she wouldn’t be of too much help until she was given more information but Mary was more than willing to help. “Yes I'm sure with a little planning we can come up with something perfect. What is a Slytherin better at than getting their way right?” Mary asked with a playful smirk.
She smiled as Rayne agreed that the snow angel was obviously a male and pointed out that he was not dissimilar to many boys at the school. “Yep one minute they have you believing that what you think matters to them and that they care. Then the next minute they are gone with no explanation. Just poof bye bye you don’t think what I feel you should. Or worse are the ones that have no mind of their own; like my father. I mean he just sits there and takes all my mother’s rants. He just pretends to listen and placates her and tells that that she’s so right. Meanwhile she is so beyond wrong and I know he knows it. He doesn’t agree with all her silly rhetoric and I know it. But does he say anything? Of course not, he just agrees with her and watches as she tries to “fix” me. Its horrible.” She said with a pout. “Males suck.” She finished simply before leaning on a tree.
The tree shook slightly from her weight being put on it and some snow fell off. She smiled a gentle silly little smile as she brushed it out of her hair. Soon the smile turned into a grimace though. “I repeat, the male species is horrible.” She said not quite as sternly as she had hoped.

Rayne sighed and sat down in the snow. It was wet, cold and suited her current mood perfectly. She put her face in her hands trying to think. It wasn't fair! Her brother shouldn't be putting her through this. Isn't that what family was for? They were supposed to stick together and keep each other from getting hurt. They weren't supposed to totally ignore and get angry at every attempt someone made to keep them from getting hurt. Sighing Rayne lifted her face up to look at Mary. "Sorry bout your Dad and your Mom. If it's any consolation my parents are pretty bad themselves. Mainly my Mom though. She's psychotic and I'm not even kidding. That's why I live with my brother and not her. She hates everything to do with magic mainly because of my Dad. He ended up splitting before I was born because he couldn't take her mood swings and psychotic rants. I can't say I blame him though I wish he'd have waited till I was born and taken me and my brother with him."
Rayne began drawing things in the snow randomly before looking up with a bitter smile. "That's something that might drive 'princess' Leona away take her to meet my mum see if she wants to be in my brothers family then."

Mary sent a small smile over to Rayne as she apologized for her parents. “Oh its ok I'm used to it, plus its not like its your fault.” She said just before Rayne began discussing her own parents. Mary listened sympathetically as Rayne explained that she lived with her brother in an attempt to get away from her mother. She was shocked as Rayne said that her father had left before she was born and she wished she had been taken with him. Mary knew parents splitting up and one leaving wasn’t that uncommon but still… Unsure of what to say Mary just sat there hoping Rayne wouldn’t be offended by her silence. She didn’t seem to mind though and mentioned introducing ‘Leona’, obviously the fiancé, to her soon to be mother in law.
“They haven’t meet yet? How did your brother pull off getting engaged without introducing the girl to your mother? You know its only right for you to introduce her to her future family.” Mary said with a mischievous grin at Rayne’s question of how much she would want to be inducted into the family after that. “Maybe Mummy dearest should be invited over to visit you guys one weekend. You don’t even have to go, send an owl last minute saying that you cant go.” Mary said continuing Rayne’s thought out loud while moving over to sit on a bench.

Rayne looked at Mary a small smile playing on her face. She wondered exactly how her brother had managed to pull off the not meeting the parents thing. She'd have to owl her cousin and find out. After all she'd been the one keeping Rayne up to date with things. Snapping out of her thoughts Rayne went to sit next to Mary.
"As for my brother getting away with the parents not meeting I have no clue. I think it would be amusing for mommy dearest and the wench to meet but I don't know if it would actually drive Leona away. See she's only going to marry my brother because he makes a ton of money and I'm not exactly sure if my mother would be enough to drive her away. I might have them meet anyway just to watch them both suffer." Rayne said smiling a bitter smile.

“Why not?” Mary asked “How unusual is it that someone would want to get their mother and future in-laws together for the weekend. Why not have mommy dearest over along with princess and your brother to share some “big news” or something? Even if it doesn’t break them up its one more thing that can bug her and add to any other ideas you may come up with. I know with my mother when it comes to getting my way I find a number of little things combined work as well as most major things.” Mary said really unsure of how to expand on her idea yet uncertain as to what else to say.
She then began pulling the little charm on her necklace and slumped back on the bench. She then pulled her wand out of her pocket and started waving it around sending harmless little green and silver sparks around. Mary never knew why she produced those sparks so often, but it was something she often did when she was uncertain as to how she was expected to react. She figured a non-reaction was better than a bad reaction.

Rayne thought about that. A number of little things working as well as some big things. She wasn't sure if that would be the case with her future sister. As much as Rayne hated her she had to give her props on how persistant she was. Sighing Rayne fiddled with the butterfly necklace around her neck. She thought about the introduction playing with the idea in her mind trying to think of ways to improve it make it more...effective. Rayne let out another little sigh something that was fast becoming a bad habit and let go of the necklace. "Yeah I guess I could set up an introduction. Like you said even if it doesn't break them up at least they'll both be miserable."
Rayne got the feeling that Mary was getting bored of the subject and not wanting to make her uncomfortable she stood up and clapped her hands together. "Well I can figure out something later after all I do have almost all year. So what do you want to do?"

Mary listened with an evil little grin as Rayne agreed that making them miserable could only be a good thing. Rayne then asked what she wanted to do. “Well… seeing as I stormed out here in a blind rage I kinda had no plans. It is rather nice out though.” Mary said glancing up at the shining sun and near cloudless sky. Remembering last time she was in the courtyard though Mary scowled at the sky and cursed the moon, which could still be seen. Realising she was being silly Mary looked down and pouted. “Sorry I'm not very ingenious right now. I just don't know… I'm not in the greatest mood. Have you ever liked someone like a lot a lot more than anyone else and whenever you are apart you feel ignored? Like you know its just life you can’t be together that much but… just can’t stop yourself from getting upset?” Mary asked Rayne wondering if she really had lost her mind, getting all worked up over a guy.

Rayne paced around a bit as Mary talked about how she was not in the greatest of moods because of a guy. She smiled inwardly knowing exactly how Mary felt for she was going through the same exact thing with a guy from school. She stopped dead in her tracks when Mary asked if she'd ever felt that way. "Yeah I know exactly how you feel." She said flopping down on the snowy grounds. "With me it's like I knew I wasn't even in the running not with all the girls that like him. I knew I wasn't even an option. And despite everything you know you still end up liking him. Then when it turns out that he doesn't like you even though you knew he wouldn't it hurts." Rayne said more to herself then Mary.

Mary gave Rayne a slight smile as she said that she understood what Mary was talking about. Of course every girl would understand, because no guy was above tearing your heart out. Except Kris of course, but she was probably a bit bias on that one. She listened to Rayne speak about an unattainable guy and how it still hurt to see him flirt, with a sympathetic ear. “Oh don't I know that one.” Mary said with a humph. “Gosh I have been driven mad with jealousy before over guys who even if there were no other girls around I still wouldn’t get him. Its like you think if they weren’t around everything else keeping you apart wouldn’t matter. Like a few years age difference would go away if the girl wasn’t there eh? Funny what a blow to the head a crush can be. When you’re smitten that’s it eh.” Mary said with a bitter chuckle.
“Cupid is not only blind I can tell you that; he absolutely mental. Are you going to Dana’s valentines party?” Mary asked unsure if Rayne even knew Dana, but knowing it was going to be a huge party so the majority of the school already knew about it and it wasn’t by invitation so… “Valentines now that’s an insane holiday eh? Celebrating “romantic love” as if there is such a thing. I really doubt it you know that. I think romantic love is just friendship love confused. I know thirteen is too young to be this cynical but… well growing up with my parents… I think it was a holiday created though just to keep chocolate sales up during lent.” Mary said with a giggle. “What do you think?” she asked.
