Dana looked herself in the mirror and smiled. She was wearing low-cut hip-hugger jeans and a beige jumper on them, with a zipper on the front, which Dana had pulled closed in the middle, but opened over her stomach, so her belly-button was revealed, showing the little golden chain of her magical belly-button jewel. It didn’t require any hole to be made, which had been the reason why Dana had bought it and she had liked the little snitch dangling on the short chain just above the button of her jeans right now. The snitch even had small swirling wings attached to it. The snitch swinged and moved a bit when Dana moved, drawing eyes to it and given off a small golden glint, when the light hit it just right. At first it had been a bit cold against her stomach, but by now it had already warmed up.
Dana brushed her hair and left her dormitory walking towards the student lounge to find some of her friends and chat a bit or do something. She trotted down-stairs and walked swiftly to towards the student lounge and entered it. Dana smiled looking towards the huge blazing fire and walked towards it, not really turning any attention to the other people for a moment.
She had almost reached the fire-place, when she bumped into someone and looked down at the other person, slightly startled. “Uh, sorry,” Dana noticed that her ‘snitch’ had got stuck to the other girl’s sweater by one of it’s small wings, and yelped, taking hold of the girl’s arm and setting the ‘snitch’ loose with her other hand, “Uh, hold on a moment could you?”
Dana smiled as the snitch was swinging freely again and sat down onto a couch, swinging her legs over the armrest while laying on her back on the couch, which still had room for one person to sit at between her head and the other arm-rest. Dana smiled at the girl, who was a first year probably moving her head, so she could see her better as well as the armchair she had probably been sitting in, “Sorry about that once again. I wasn’t looking where I was going and then I had to get my ‘snitch’ disentangled. I’m Dana by the way.”
Rayne was reading in the student lounge. It was a book called How to improve your writing. Since she desperatley needed all the help she could get when it came to writing she snatched the book up as soon as she saw it.
She had been sitting down for at least an hour when an idea hit her for her story. Instead of sitting still however she got up and began pacing around the room turning the idea over and over again in her head as she often did when reading.
She had just decided what to do and was about to go and sit back down when a girl bumped into her.
The girls belly button chain had gotten tangeled in Rayne's sweater and the girl had to dislodge it.
"I'm Rayne." She said when the girl sat down and introduced herself as Dana after apologizing once again. "I'm sorry also I should have been paying more attention. I like the belly button ring by the way." She said sitting down in a chair near Dana.

Dana laughed and smiled as Rayne complimented the belly-button ring she wore. “Thanks, obviously I like it too,” Dana grinned and touched the snitch. It was still new enough to feel a bit strange on her stomach, but it was a pleasant sensation, “Just bought it yesterday.”
Dana let out a giggle: “I just hope the seekers of the house-team aren’t that sleepy or nervous, they try to catch it for practice before the real games.” Dana winked at Rayne, moving herself to a more comfortable position: “So neither of us was paying attention and let’s leave the incident to that. No harm done after all, right?”
“So – did I disturb some important creating-process or reviewing? No, can’t be reviewing, as you don’t have any books,” Dana concluded with a smile and a lazy stretch.

Rayne pulled her hair back into a pony tail and began twirling a strand around her fingers. "I have my belly button pierced." She said showing Dana her peircing.
The belly button ring had a beautiful black rose that sat on her belly button. The black rose had a silver chain that hung down and on the end of a chain was red drop like a drop of blood. Her mother never really liked the peircing which was why Rayne loved it.
Rayne let her shirt drop back down and went back to playing with her hair. "You didn't destroy my creative process." She said in reference to Dana's last comment. "I was trying to think of something to write but it was junk anyway." She said sighing and pulled her legs in so she was sitting indian style.

"Excuse me. Pardon me. Okay EVERYBODY MOVE!" Jordan tried to be polite, but no one listened. So she stationed herself and put her arms by her sides, her fists clenched, and she yelled. Only then did the crowding Hufflepuffs move aside so she could get to the portrait entrance, but she could hear them whispering about her attitude as she left the common room that was suffocating her. She stormed down the corridor and then turned left. Her dark brown eyes were glaring at everyone near her and she nearly ripped her out trying to put it up in a pony tail. She wore her usual, a pair of plaid jeans, boots, and a shirt that said "Sugar and Spice" with her bandana tied tightly around her arm.
As she entered the Student Lounge, her attitude was slightly cooled off...but, not much. One little thing would set her off again, and that wouldn't be pretty. She didn't like yelling and screaming at people; it normally wasn't her. But, lately she hadn't been her. And ever since she had misplaced her pills she wasn't in the best of moods. The firelight sent off an earthly glow, and Jordan couldn't see squat. She angrily took out her wand,"Lumos." She muttered, the light came on and she could see much better than before. She quickly scanned the student lounge for any of her friends; and spotted Rayne.
"Oi! Rayne!" Jordan called over the slight din. She made her way over to where her friend was sitting and looked at her wand,"Nox." She muttered to it, and once again she couldn't see that well. She squinted as her eyes became accustomed to the dark, and once they had she turned the squint into a leisurely smile. Jordan set her shoulderbag down next to her as she sat on the floor, her feet pulled to the side of her, and she looked up at the people before her.
((Hope you don't mind me joining, it did say Rayne & Anyone, did it not?))

((It did say anyone could join so it's fine))
Rayne had been talking to Dana when she heard someone call her. Turning she watched as Jordan entered. She noticed that Jordan seemed more or less disgruntled as if she was angry at something. As Jordan sat down though she seemed calmer.
"Oh hey Jordan." Rayne says smiling "How are you? You seemed angry for a second there."

Jordan smiled, but it faded slightly as Rayne asked what was up. She sighed and shrugged as if to say, the same. But, Rayne wouldn't know the same. No one knew the same. Except for one person. But, that person wasn't there at the moment. Jordan fiddled with her bandana and looked up as she adjusted it to make it tighter around her arm.
"Common room was crowded, couldn't get through. Didn't sleep right. Lot's of useless nonsense that I seem to go through every day." She answered with that sad small smile. She then brushed some loose strands of hair out of her eyes before looking down at her hands which were drawing circles on the carpet. It was a horrible habit that she didn't necessarily need to break, but it was something that annoyed most people. She would just trace circles, over and over and over and over. Until she wanted to stop. Which, was usually never.

Dana watched Rayne’s belly-button ring and smiled. “It looks gorgeous. Fantastique!”
Dana looked up as some girl called Rayne and walked over. She seemed younger than Dana herself was as well, but a year or two older than Rayne. A third year, perhaps? The two girls conversed as Dana learned Jordan’s name. She also noticed her smile dimming lightly, when Rayne asked what was up.
“Hello, Jordan. Do you mind if I call you Jordan? I don’t know your last name anyway,” Dana answered as Jordan sat on the rug and started tracing rings, “I’m Dana.” Dana held out her hand. Dana watched the girl, feeling something stirring in her brain. Was this the girl, Kris had mentioned to her? The one who he had argued with and who had intrigued Dana’s cousin. Dana didn’t have a clue what they talked or even argued about, but Kris seemed to like this girl some-what.
“Well, we aren’t doing much of anything useful either. Just showed each-other our belly-button rings,” Dana continued with a smile swinging her legs, which were hanging over the arm-rest of the couch, “But at least the fire is great and the company is even better.”
Jordan looked up as the other girl introduced herself. There was something, something about that name that rang a small silver bell in the back of her mind. Dana...Dana...DANA! Now, she knew who this was! This was Kris's cousin. Jordan smiled and shook Dana's hand before fidgeting with her hair again.
"It's Cortes, Jordan Cortes. You can call me Jordan or Cortes, but I perfer Jordan. Belly button rings,eh? I would get one...but, I am slightly afraid of needles. I just recently got my ears pierced, so no belly button rings for me until later. LIke when I can't feel my stomach, like when I'm dead. Needles give me the wiggins." Jordan shook her head, and her hair fell out of it's pony tail, it had been awhile since she had cut her beautiful long brown hair and it was slowly growing back to it's normal length, mid back.
"Who wants to do anything useful anyway, right? Being useful means, uh, actually doing something. So, I wouldn't want to do that. Unless it involves dancing, because that was actually what I was on my way to do. But, I saw you so I decided to reschedule. Unless you two want to join." She smiled as she started to talk, and the words started to form without her realization. She was wearing the mask, the mask that so many people saw and so many people didn't realize.

“Needles`? Et moi? That wouldn’t work!” Dana laughed and sitting up tugged at the snitch, while muttering a quick charm, placing her wand at where the belly-button ring was attached to her skin. The snitch came off and Dana smiled showing it to Jordan, “No needles for this one. It’s magical – I use a charm to put it in place and use a charm to get it off. No more trick to it. I don’t stand needles – even my tattoo was done from distance with a wand.”
“But dancing – that sounds great! I’d like that,” Dana pulled herself to a sitting position and flinging her legs back on ground, stood up in a fluid movement, throwing her hands above her head and starting to move slowly to some song, that was once again being sung in the lounge by someone, “I just LOVE dancing and would want to join. What do you say, Rayne?”
Dana laughed dancing around the couch, laughing when some boy at her year, took her by her waist and they moved together for a moment, before Dana twirled away back to the girl and leaned on the armchair of the couch: “I practiced salsa with my cousin last evening – I managed to drag him out to do it, and now I just can’t get enough of dancing anymore. So pardon me, if I seem a bit over-enthuasistic. As far as I care, we can dance right here, or move to the room of requirement. My cousin also showed me the way to an old ball-room here, which isn’t used anymore.”
"Oi! That's smart now isn't it? Well, maybe then I will get a belly button ring, but that is a huge maybe." Jordan said as she laughed when Dana undid the belly button ring. She tilted her head and ran her fingers through her hair as she watched Dana get enthusiastic about dancing. Jordan loved dancing, she was Latina after all. Jordan stood up as Dana leaned against the back of the chair, and she started to fix her hair into a pony tail that would last when she shook her head.
"You salsa? That's perfect! Do you tango? How bout Cha cha? Ooooh! Or Merengue. Either will do! I can do all of them." She exclaimed as she grabbed her shoulderbag, put her hands on her hips and moved them in a sultry fast circle. She then smiled and crossed her arms before looking down at Rayne with pleading eyes. Dana had mentioned her cousin, and Jordan was strategically dancing around conversations that involved Kris. Because, she wouldn't allow herself to think about him. They had argued, and then they had talked. That was what worried Jordan, the only way to actually get to know her was to talk to her. And Kris had really gotten to know her.
"C'mon Rayne! It'll be wicked! If you don't know how to dance that'll be fine. We can teach you! C'mon, pleeease!" Jordan was on her knees, her hands clasped together and pleading eyes locked in Rayne's hoping that the girl would agree to dancing. Jordan had the uncontrollable need to do the tango, to entertwine with her Latina heritage. She really needed this to express herself.

Rayne watched the Dana and Jordan get aquainted. She noticed that Jordan seemed to skirt around the conversation of Dana's cousin. She wondered what had happened between Dana's cousin and Jordan but was to polite to ask. After all she didn't know Jordan all that well and she didn't even know Dana had a cousin. So instead of joining their conversation she just sat there and watched silently until they mentioned dancing.
Rayne loved to dance it was a way out for her when times got tough. Only problem was that she didn't know the kinds of dancing they did. Tango and Cha cha it was all greek to her. Embarassing as it was her type of dancing was ballet. She didn't want them to know though because ballet had been prone to getting her made fun of.
Rayne really didn't want to go dancing but Dana seemed really enthusiatic about it all and Jordan was begging her to go. I'll just pretend I don't know how. she thought to herself. "All right I'll dance with you guys but I don't know how to dance the dances you guys are talking about you'll have to teach me" She said getting up reluctantly. At least she wasn't lying she didn't know how to dance those dances and as long as they didn't ask about Ballet she'd be in the clear.

Dana whooped happily as Rayne agreed to dance with them and got up: “Teaching you won’t be a problem at all. The dances do have some required steps sometimes, but you can also pretty much dance like you feel.”
“And yep – I can do all of those dances. Do you guys want to go somewhere else or will we just dance her? We can clear the furniture a bit further from this corner ” Dana answered to Jordan’s question pulling out her wand and with a smooth wrist movement music engulfed the girls.
Dana put her quill away and rotated her hips as well, tracing the steps of Merengue to the music: “Which dance do you want to start with? Once you get the hang of it, there’s nothing hard about them. You just move your body to the music and enjoy yourself to the fullest.”
Dana explained between the dancesteps.

"Here's fine! Don't worry Rayne, it's simple. Don't worry about the steps, just close your eyes and feel the music." Jordan said as she closed her eyes and listened for a moment. As her arm stretched out, she felt someone grab it, then her waist. She stepped her foot out and she was off! She opened her eyes and laughed with joy as she continued to dance with the boy.
"Okay, Rayne watch...it's a simple step, not even a step." She told Rayne as she took the boy's right hand with hers and then his left, and moved them in a circular inward motion, then she stepped up on the balls of her feet and moved one foot forward then the other, then the first foot back and then the other. Her hips swaying with the beat of the music. She ended with a twirl into the boy, and then a twirl out.

Rayne watched in open mouthed shock as Dana and Jordan danced. They were both excellent and she'd never seen such good dancers. She was begining to feel it was a mistake as they tried to explain the dance steps. It was all greek to her. They were talking about feeling the music and going with the beat. What was worse was that they were trying to teach her there in the common room where there were people.
Rayne watched as Jordan began dancing with a boy. When she twirled into the boy then out Rayne gave up. "Uh guys I don't think I can do this I'll just watch you. I learn better this way anyway." She said sitting down.

“Oh, no you don’t! These dances can't be learned unless you move!” Dana laughed and grabbing Rayne’s hands, pulled the younger girl back to her feet, before flicking her wand, and clearing the couches and armchair away to a corner, leaving the girls an open room where to dance. “Come on. Just move with me,” Dana laughed pulling Rayne a bit further from Jordan and some boy she was dancing with, “The twirling part comes a bit later. And if you get hooked tonight, I promise I’ll organize a partner for you, who won’t let you fall.”
“Now, just follow my moves and do the same. Not listening to the rhythm of the music, Dana showed the correct movements to Rayne a bit slower. “Just stand on the balls of your feet, then bring one forth,” Dana explained grabbing Raynes’ hands and positioning herself opposite her, taking the boy’s part for now. After Rayne had stepped, Dana moved herself again, forcing Rayne to follow the movement. Dana smiled and showed Rayne the steps and movements, starting with some easier ones and repeating them slow enough, so Rayne could get certain of them.
((Ooc - Sorry, if it seems as if god-moding a bit, but I hope you don’t mind. If you do, just let me know and I’ll change it))
Finally Dana was satisfied with Rayne’s movements and smiled stopping once again and facing Rayne: “That’s very good! You must have danced something sometime, as you subconsciously add the required grace to your movements. But that’s now important now. Ready to try the steps a bit faster and to the music?” Dana asked with a smile.

Jordan laughed lightly as the boy wouldn't let go, and she made her way to Dana and Rayne. Dana was teaching Rayne a few steps and Jordan found this time to change. She tapped her head with her wand and was instantly changed into her dance shoes, salsa skirt, and a white tank top. Her hair was up in a tight bun with a white daisy tucked in it and she had two loose curly-q's framing her face. She smiled as she watched Dana teach Rayne and then ask if she was ready for music.
"You! Come 'ere!" Jordan called to a random guy in the lounge. He stood up, confused lightly, and she nodded her head. Taking his hand she placed it on her lower back, and pushed his other one with hers back a little way. He almost lost his balance but, Jordan smiled and he gained his footing. She stepped back, and then back into her first position. Jordan laughed and left the boy so she could help Dana with Rayne. Rayne seemed slight embarrassed to be dancing in the lounge in front of people, and it was then Jordan realized. She was dancing in front of people. A light blush rose to her cheeks, and she thanked the lord for her cheeks being red from heat as well.

((It's fine I don't mind))
Rayne let Dana pull her onto the floor and teach her some of the steps. At first it was sorta hard for her she was so used to starting off in first position that she had to remind herself that she wasn't dancing ballet. After a few tries however Rayne got the general gist of it. After a few more tries Dana seemed satisfied for she stopped and asked if she was ready for the music. She really wasn't but decided to say she was because Dana had mentioned that she must've danced something before.
"Yeah sure I think I can do it." She said and looked over at Jordan to see if she thought she could do it as well. It was then that she noticed Jordan had changed into a salsa outfit.
"Wow you must really like to dance." She said and began to feel inferior. Jordan must've been doing this a long time. Rayne pushed those feelings away and smiled at Jordan and Dana. "Are we going to add music now or what?"

Jordan shrugged at Rayne's comment, it was a big thing in her family. BUt then again, Jordan was Latina. They had done dancing regularly, when her mother was alive,"Sure, music." Jordan swished her wand and the music came on once again. She put her hand on her hip and smiled at Rayne,"Ready? Wait till the beat..." She started to sway her hips, her hands rising slowly above her heads. Then there was a long whole note and a sharp C note. On the C note, Jordan struck her foot down with strength and started to dance.
"Just...dance. No one's looking." Jordan closed her eyes and danced in a circle, hoping Rayne would believe her. In a sense no one was looking, they were just watching in plain awe at something three girls could do that they couldn't do.

Rayne laughed when Jordan told her no one was looking. "No they aren't looking they're just watching me fail miserably." She mumbled more to herself then to Jordan. "Here goes nothing." Rayne sighed and listened to the beat and tried to do what Dana had showed her earlier. 'stand on the balls of your feet.' She recited to herself. 'bring one forth.' As she did so she stumbled and almost fell. Blushing furiously she regained her balance.
"This isn't working!" She exclaimed trying not to cry. She didn't like to fail and in her mind not being able to dance was failing and that was not acceptable. Taking a deep breath she closed her eyes. Maybe if she couldn't see everyone watching she wouldn't be so hard pressed to be perfect. It seemed to work because she was able to concentrate better. Listening to the beat of the music Rayne began to sway her hips. Standing on the balls of her feet she did as Dana told her. She stepped forward and she was off.
Rayne opened her eyes and realized that she was dancing. She had done it! It wasn't perfect and she wasn't near as good as Dana and Jordan but she'd done it.
