Rayne walks into the student lounge and curls up in an arm chair next to the fireplace. A place to be alone at last. The Gryffindor commonroom was always so crowded at least that's what it seemed like to Rayne. At least here she had a good seat and a nice warm fire.
Looking into the fire made her feel almost drowsy she had come down here to read maybe do some studying after all she loved to learn. However sitting her in this nice cozy arm chair all she wanted to do was sleep. She lay her head down on the arm of the chair and looked up at the ceiling letting the warmth wash over her like a nice hot bath. She was contemplating what book to read but ended up slipping into dream land.

Jordan Cortes made her way down to the student lounge. Her school uniform untucked and very untidy, but this didn't bother her one bit. Jordan was angsty tonight, and she needed something to calm her down. So in her right hand she held a book, entitled One Way To Be An Artist and in her left hand she held, a box of nuts and chews and a water bottle in which she hadn't opened yet. Her mind was already set on the next chapter of the very addictive art book that had originally inspired her to be an artist, and she couldn't wait to settle down with her chocolates and her water and crack open the page to her bookmark.
The Lounge was semi-full but, strangely silent. Jordan shrugged this off and made her way to a chair near the fire. She kicked off her penny-loafers and curled her feet up under her, cradled her box of chocolates on her knees, opened her water bottle, took a drink, set that on the floor, took a chocolate put it in her mouth, and opend the book to her most recent page. Artist's show their love through their work. They draw, paint, sculpt, and photograph what they know and what they have seen. Imagine; sculpting something you had no idea what it looked like. Would it be a masterpiece? Or not? Jordan chuckled softly at that sentence.

Rayne snapped awake. Oh no I can't believe I fell asleep. She thought sitting upright in the arm chair. She noticed that the student lounge had mostly emptied out only one other girl remained and she was reading what Rayne could only assume was a muggle book.
Rayne looked away and began searching through her bag for her potions book. Even though she had already finished her homework she wanted to take some more notes on the chapter they had done after all the professor was really strict and she didn't want to fall behind.
Rayne found her book and some parchment only to find that she had left her quill and ink back in the common room. What kind of student would leave their writing utensils behind? Rayne searched through her bag once more before giving up. She'd have to go back to her common room unless the other girl happened to have a spare quill and ink.
Rayne looked over at the girl, she seemed really involved in her book. She didn't want to disturb her but she also really wanted to take the notes. Rayne decided to chance it. "Umm...excuse me you don't happen to have a quill and ink on you do you?" Rayne asks quietly not looking at the girl but instead focusing on the floor in front of her.

Jordan went through at least...five pages of her book before her eyes started to tire of reading the black ink on the white pages. But, she couldn't put the book down, it was of course her most favorite and she had always loved re-reading it. She could probably recite it by now, but at that moment reciting it wasn't what she wanted to do.
When someone spoke to her, Jordan nearly jumped and looked over her pages to see a girl who looked younger than her asking for a quill and ink. She smiled wearly and looked through her shoulderbag, trying to see if she did indeed have one. But, she didn't. She had pencils and ink pens though. Muggle contraptions sure, but still really good. Jordan sat up and looked at the girl.
"No, sorry. But, I do have inkpens and pencils. They work just as well, if not better." Jordan told her, waiting to see if she would like one.
"I'm Jordan Cortes by the way." She added after a moment when she realized she didn't know who this was, and thought that if she didn't know her, then the girl wouldn't know her.

Rayne noticed that the girl looked really tired for when she smiled after Rayne had asked for the quill it was a very tired smile. Rayne watched as the girl searched for some ink and a quill only to tell her that all she had was pens and pencils. Rayne hadn't known pens worked here. She had been told that most muggle things weren't allowed in Hogwarts. If she had known that she would've brought some pens herself.
"Thanks a pen will do fine. I like them better anyway less messy and a lot less hassle." Rayne said smiling shyly.
"Oh and my name is Rayne nice to meet you." She said realizing that she hadn't told her her name.

"I agree. But, I am an artist and it's really hard to sketch with a quill, so I suppose I always havea pencil or pen on me." Jordan said with a brigher smile than before. She put the bookmark in her book and put that away before sitting up right and looking at Rayne. Jordan brushed her hair out of her eyes before leaning her chin on the arm rest of the couch.
"It's nice to meet you too, it's always good to meet new people. Unless of course, you don't want to meet that person. What are you up to?" She asked after a moment's silence and a small click of her tongue. She fiddled with a lock of her brown hair and a small sigh of utter boredum.

Rayne pulled her hair into a ponytail before letting it fall back into place something she did when she was nervous. She'd never been a good conversationalist and here she was talking to someone she'd just met.
"I was just trying to keep up on my potions." She explained showing Jordan her potions book. "See I don't want to fall behind the class and Snape likes to yell at people who are doing bad so I was just going to take notes and stuff so that I don't fail." She put her potions book down and sighed realizing that she probably sounded like a boring over achiever.

Jordan shook her head as if to say, potions yuckie! She despised that class, and everything about that class and everyone that was a Slytherin. Wait, no- not everyone that was a Slytherin, there were a few she didn't mind.
"Potions is a terrible class, and I don't see how anyone could possibly enjoy it. Snape is a horrid teacher, I mean how am I; a color blind student; know what color the potion is if I can't tell the difference between red and pink? He obviously doesn't understand students at all! And I pity him for that." Jordan ranted lightly. She then stopped when realizing Rayne might enjoy that class.
"Do you enjoy his class?" She asked in a mere whisper of fright that she might have offended a possible friend.

Rayne listened with a small smile as Jordan ranted about potions. She hated potions it was hard for her and the Slytherins were terrible. And Snape he was the worst always yelling at the students.
"No no no I hate potions it's a horrible class. I agree with you about Snape not understanding students. He's so mean and icky he's only nice to Slytherins and that's cause it's his house. You don't see any other teachers doing that." Rayne said bitterly pushing her potions book to the floor. Then smiled when she realized that they had something in common they both hated Potions.

Jordan nodded her head in agreement with Rayne. Snape did play favorites with the Slytherin house. She wondered if she could get him fired for that.
"Take yesterday for example, my friend Vanessa did a excellent potion, he took five points away because, it wasn't red enough. He gets so annoying! Sometimes I just want, to...to...set him on fire! Now, that would be an interesting class." Jordan laughed and pulled her feet up under her, enjoying Rayne's company.

Rayne laughed when Jordan suggested setting him on fire. "That would be an interesting class I would love to see it too. Only if you set him on fire as amusing as that would be you'd probably get expelled. It would be even better if one of his potions exploded teach him that not everyone's perfect." She said pulling her legs up so she was sitting indian style in the chair.

Jordan smiled wickedly, "Of course, it would be a total accident if I set him on fire. I wouldnt' do something like that on purpose." She said and then laughed once more.
"But, i doubt I'll do that. My pranking days are long gone and done with." She added with a retired sigh.

"Why are you done pranking people?" Rayne asked looking confused. "I'd prank people all the time but alas I don't have the guts. Mark my words the one time I decide to prank someone I'll end up getting caught and get in some serious trouble."

Jordan looked up, smiled slightly, then pushed her hair out of her eyes before seriously contemplating that answer. She hand't pranked in awhile, and she seemed to have grown out of it. Sure she would laugh if someone else did it...but, she just wasn't one of those people to actually do it...anymore anyway.
"I guess, I grew tired of it. I mean, I'm growing up and pranking just doesn't seem as interesting as it did when I was 11 or 12. I am changing and I guess that my interests are changing with me." Jordan finally answered with a small smile. It was true, she wasn't even drawing as much as she used to either.

Rayne sighed and pulled her hair back into a ponytail. She realized that Jordan was right people do grow older and that she herself had changed. She used to be so quiet and so closed. Now she was at least a little more outgoing. After all she'd have never been able to ask for anything from a stranger if she'd gone here when she was younger.
Rayne let her hair fall back into place. "I suppose your right people do change when they get older. Still to see Snape on fire would be pretty funny. Maybe we could get someone else to do it." She said with a small smile.

"That's a big maybe. Not a lot of people I know would be willing to set a Professor on fire, even if it is Snape. Sure, do some other things to him, but not setting him on fire. That could get a person expelled, and no one wants to get expelled." She said after a silent moment, then she went through her shoulderbag and found some gummy bears. She held the bag out to Rayne and then took some for herself. Jordan always had some candy on her, it was because of her enourmous sweet tooth, and normally she shared with other people...it was the sweet side of her. But, the sour you never wanted to see.

"Well I don't want him to be set on fire per se I mean that would be mean and totally uncalled for but maybe sabatoge one of his potions or turn his hair green or something." She said sighing. "I don't know, just get someone to teach him a lesson or something like that."
Rayne watched as Jordan pulled out some gummy bears and offered her some. "Sure." holding out her hand so she could get some. "I love these things they're my favorite."

"Yeah, because god knows his teaching isn't that good. He needs to demonstrate or something. Like, that girl D.J. said. No, I'm not in that class, but she's one of my friends so I hear things from her. She made it right saying that he should teach them how to do it instead of just expecting us to know how." Jordan smiled as she popped another gummy bear in her mouth and chewed before replying to Rayne's last statement.
"I've only recently started eating these, it's usually chocolates of some sort. But, Gummy's do just as fine as anything else." She smiled again and ate some more.

"I know I agree so much he puts the ingredients on the board and expects us to know how to do them and then when we do what he says how are we supposed to know if it's right? Then he walks around and tells us stuff like it's the wrong shade of red or it's boiling too much but we didn't know it was supposed to only boil to a certain point or something mundane like that. I swear the only reason he doesn't demonstrate is because then he'll be able to pick on us because we don't know what it's supposed to look like." Rayne says frustrated.
She pops a red gummy bear in her mouth chewing thoughtfully. "You know I think I may be the only girl who doesn't like chocolate." She says popping another gummy bear in her mouth.

"Exactly! It's like, 'okay Mr. Smart Guy, if you know how to do it so perfectly, then you show us!' Ugh, it's so annoying that he criticsizes and then those who do good potions, he says 'good, but not good enough if you are going to do well in this class next year' It's like he wants us to be depressed or something." She shook her head in frustration.
"Probably. How come you don't like it?" She asked after Rayne's comment about not liking chocolate.
