Cole walked downstairs lazily having just woke up. His mom looked at him and said "Good morning baby. Would you like something to eat?" Cole looked at her and put on a smile to humor her and said "I'm sorry mom I have to get ready and go to Dawn's party." Cole frowned and got some butter beer and went upstairs. "Don't be late." his mother yelled up the steps. "Remember what happened last time." Cole frowned at the thought of being thrown out of Dawn's last party for being late. He had only gotten the invite to this one the day before because he had been on vacation. It had been a long time since he had seen Dawn. They usually bumped into each other at school but he hadn't seen her at all for a good 3 months.
Cole walked into his bathroom and emerged 30 minutes later. The steam flowed out of the door as he emerged and he walked down the hall to his room. Cole shut the door as he walked in and went over to an outfit that was hanging on his wall. Cole put it on and stood in front of a mirror looking at himself. He had on a black button up shirt tucked into his black dress pants. He had on a green and silver tie and a black belt. Over that he had a nice black blazer with a green handkerchief in the pocket. To top it off Cole grabbed a pair of sunglasses off his desk and put them on. "Man you look good." he said to himself.
Cole put on his black dress shoes and walked over to his desk. Cole grabbed his wand and stuck it in his right inside pocket. Then he grabbed an envelope off his desk that was black with silver stars glistening on it with the name "Dawn" on it. Cole walked out of his room and downstairs into the kitchen. "Is the driver ready Mom?" he asked looking at her. "Yes dear he is outside. You look so good." she said smiling. "Thanks mom." Cole said as he walked out of the front door. Sitting in the driveway was a Roles Roys Phantom. It was all black with blacked out windows. As he walked to the car the driver opened the door. "Thank you Andy." Cole said as he got in.
Cole sat in the back of the car as Andy drove him to Dawns. Finally after a while they got to the house and Cole waited for Andy to open the door. "I will go home by floo powder." Cole said as he walked to the front door. Knocking on the door Cole waited for someone to answer. A house elf came to the door and said "Dawn isn't letting anyone in you are to late." As the elf went to close the door Cole pulled out his wand and said "Oh she will want to see me."
The house elf trembled as Cole walked in the house putting away his wand. Cole took off his sunglasses and put them in an inside pocket. He followed the noise into the dining room just to hear Dawn say “Glass of Chardonnay.” Cole smiled and said "Don't mind if I do." He could see a look of shock on Dawns face as he began to walk to wards her. Cole walked up to Dawn and pulled out the envelope. "Happy Birthday." he said as he gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek. Not giving her a chance to speak he went and sat down next to Aden. "Hey Aden it's been to long." Cole said as he put his napkin on his lap.

Dawn was thrilled, it was her 17th birthday. She was surrounded by people she actually liked to accociate with. Her silver was shinning as well as her smile. She hadn't smiled so much since... her last birthday! The food on her plate looked wonderful, as well as smelled it. Trinity sat down next to her as Dawn watched her seat. She seemed a bit un easy, but that would soon go away when she got used to the others. Dawn looked down the table a little towards Mary and her cousin. "So, Mary. Allowing a family member of yours into my house without an introduction?" Dawn questioned as she studied the boy. She noticed the tention in Mary's eyes as she laughed slightly. Picking up her fork and knife she began to cut the lobster slightly when she heard foot steps behind her. Glancing down the table she noticed the one boy who was late last year was late again. His voice rang as Dawn recognised it instantly. "Happy Birthday" the voice sounded a second time. Turning she saw him walk toward her. Hugging her instantly and kissing her on the cheak she was startled. She narrowed her eyes instantly as he walked away and sat next to Aden.
"Cole! What gave you the idea of comming late again? I sent out the invites nearly a month ahead. You had no reply... Testing my nerves?" she boomed trying not to create a scene. Dawn rapped her fingers on the table as she glared at the boy. Quinn came to her side and told her about Cole's wand. Turning to Cole she shot, "You wouldn't dare to use it. Your Mother would kill you if you did!" Dawn shook her head. She was angry and happy. Her and Cole have been friends for ever. The Waters and the McGrogan Family are great friends. Dawn practically grew up with Cole as a second brother. Also, this year they hardly saw each other. He is in Aden's year and the two years do not have class together. Dawn shook her head again and glared at Cole. "Yeah, thanks for stealing my Drink." Dawn joked- as she seemed to be lightening up. "Another please." she asked her house elf.
Dawn picked up her fork and knife as she started eating her lobser. Swallowing her food, she looked up. "When Everyone is finished, we will be moving out on to the deck." Dawn smiled as she remembered how pretty it was. "Oh yes, To those of whom have never been here- welcome to McGrogan Manor." Dawn smiled as she held up her Chardonnay glass for a toast.

Cole sat looked at Dawn as she talked to him. He couldn't help but smile. "You see.." Cole said taking a sip of the whine "I was on vacation and didn't get your invite until yesterday. As for why I'm late, I could have shown up on time like everyone else. But I decided to show up late and make an entrance in true Cole fashion. " Cole laughed and took another sip of his whine. Dawn was right, part of the reason he showed up late was to test her nerves. He always likes pushing the limits. Cole took a bite of his lobster and listened to Quinn talk to Dawn. "Yes I know I wouldn't and you know I wouldn't but he didn't and that was the only way I was getting in."
Cole continued to sip his drink and eat his lobster. Turning to Aden he said "Hey did you catch the Falcons game the other night? I cant believe they lost by 10 points." Cole shook his head and said "If only they had me." He laughed and finished up his food. Cole was always a fast eater so he waited for everyone else to finish. He looked up at Dawn and watched he smile. He didn't see her this happy very often and it was good to know that she could be. When a house elf came by Cole asked him to take his food.

People had started to get seated and began to eat and Aden didn't mind joining in. Sometimes having a popular and powerful older sisters did have its drawbacks, especially on her birthdays. Aden began to eat his food and no sooner had he started than a familiar face popped in, late as always. Cole Waters stepped into the room, no doubt threatened the house elf in some way to get in, and addressed Dawn. Being exceptionally bold in the way he did it, but that was typical of Cole. Aden couldn't help but watch with interest. Last year Cole had been thrown out, wonder what Dawn would do this year. Cole walked over and sat down next to Aden. Aden nodded at Cole. "Hey Cole, yes it has been to long."
Aden made a slight mental note to scoot a bit farther away from Cole. He didn't want to accidentally get brushed with anything Dawn might throw at Cole. Watching Dawn's reaction though Aden relaxed and slid back to his original spot, Dawn seemed to be in the most excellent of moods at the moment. Cole and Dawn struck up a conversation about Cole's use of a wand and Aden turned back to his plate. He turned back to Cole as he addressed him. "Actually, yes I did catch that game. I know, that was a complete uproar. Loosing by a measly 10 points." Aden grinned. "Well, if they had you, they would have lost by 50" Cole was a good Quidditch player and no doubt would make it to the pro's someday. Aden wasn't to bad of a player either and if he wanted to he could probably make it to the pro's also, but he enjoyed Quidditch as a pass time, not a career. Aden finished his plate shortly after Cole finished. Aden handed his empty plate to a house elf and than sat back.

Kris watched form a rather secluded spot as guests arrived. Crabbe, Goyle, naturally Pansy – all of them could have been expected to the party. Lydia – she was in the same year as him, but Kris didn’t like the girl. She was too… nice… for his taste. Kris watched as Mary and Danika arrived and made a mental note to greet and admire both girl later, but soon after Dawn came downstairs and ordered everyone to eat. Not particularly hungry, Kris ate a few appetizers while watching with distaste as some sixth year – who was introduced by the name Cole – arrived late. Kris appreciated people being on time, but this wasn’t his concern, so he shrugged the matter off.
Taking his glass or Merlot with him Kris walked next to one of his best friends. Actually she was almost like a little sisters. “Mary, you manage to look marvelous as always,” Kris bowed and gave Mary a quick peck on her forehead, sending just one look at Mary’s cousin, “I think I might just have to lock you down in a year or two. NO guy is good enough for this specific angel, so I think I might keep you.” Giving Mary’s locks a light playful tug, making sure not to mess up the hair-do, Kris offered a playful wink and moved on. “Dani, charming to rest eyes on you. And the dress looks fantastic,” Kris said bowing a bit closer to Danika’s ear, “You will have to save a moment later for me to properly admire it and it’s wearer.” A smile towards the fourth year girl and Kris moved to Dawn.
Dawn looked stunning too. Kris wondered briefly for how long his supply of admiring words would last. He didn’t think there would be much problem with it though. “The manor creates a sparkling background to a much more stunning inhabitant,” Kris agreed with Dawn’s toast, taking a sip of his wine, before bowing and raising her hand to his lips for a moment. “I haven’t had a chance to wish a happy birthday yet. I truly wish this will be an absolutely enchanting day – or evening rather – for you.” Smiling at Dawn, Kris turned and slipped out of the room. He had never cared much for crowds nor sticking with them, so Kris moved to the balcony. He wouldn’t mind being alone and he didn’t care if someone got insulted for him leaving the room before most people had finished eating. Finding a place for himself with a nice view, Kris sipped on his wine and let half of his mind travel, while keeping the other half alert for everything that might start happening.

Cole sat there listening to the conversations that over took the table as he sipped his wine. He laughed as the joke that Aden said and said simply "That is a good possibilitie..... if I were missing two arms." Cole laughed loudly at his own joke. He could feel the two glasses of wine starting to flow through his body. His muscles relaxed as he had one of the best times of his life. After finishing his third glass of wine he saw a house elf go by. "Could I get a shot of fire whiskey." Cole said. With a snap of his fingers the house elf made a shot appear in front of Cole. Cole smiled and downed the shot.
Cole hadn't had this much fun in a long time. He was very glad he came. Looking up at Dawn he couldn't believe how beautiful she looked tonight. Then he saw Kris walk up and say something to Dawn and kiss her hand. Cole's face became distorted as he was confused and angered at the same time. Kris was a boy in his year and Cole had never really had any problems with him until now. Standing up Cole walked over to Dawn and said "This is a great party. I think I'm going to step out and get some fresh air." Cole smiled and turned away walking through the other rooms out onto the balcony where he saw Kris standing.
Cole walked up to him and looked out into the horizon. "Great party isn't it?" he asked rhetorically. "Alot of pretty girls in there huh? I noticed you talking to many of them. Very nice compliments. I noticed you said something to Dawn." Cole turned and looked at Kris right in the eyes after he said this. "Dawn is a wonderful woman and one of my greatest Friends. Don't think you can just wiggle your way up into her good graces and try to get a relationship with her then a week later decide things weren't right. Dawn is to great of a person to ever be seen with someone like you and I swear if you ever hurt her I would make every minute of your life a living hell."
Cole looked at the ground and smiled. "So just tread lightly." Cole said brushing off Kris's shoulders. Cole turned away and grabbed a shot of a tray a house elf was carrying. Cole downed it and walked to the other side of the balcony.

Kris relaxed standing against the balcony. It was warm, nice view, music playing somewhere – most probably in some hidden alcove – he had a good wine and could get to breath and relax for a moment before having to socialize again. Just then Cole followed him to the balcony and walked up to him while staring into the horizon. Being able to smell some alcohol in his breath Kris tensed a little. Upon hearing the boys words Kris stared after him as he left before bursting out with laughter. The boy had to get half-drunk in order to come and tell him to stay out of a relationship with Dawn. Kris’s laughter rang over the balcony at the mere suggestion of such possibility.
“I was only wishing happy birthday. Some of us still have some class, you know,” Kris stated with amusement as he walked to the other boy and locked his eyes with him, “I guess me and Dawn are friends and she is my quidditch captain. I’ve seen Dawn in action and even though she’s a truly charming person – no, I wouldn’t want to get any more seriously involved with her, so you don’t have to worry about it.” Kris couldn’t help himself as he laughed in Cole’s face as he thought of such suggestion again. Sure, he liked girls and had different dates all the time. But Dawn would never be satisfied with that and Kris wasn’t ready to give up all of his personal freedom just yet. “Maybe you should stay and breath some fresh air here before you shame yourself and state this hallucinating thoughts out loud in front of someone else. Never would have thought I’d see such a lunatic in Slytherin,” Kris patted Cole’s shoulder and started to return to his previous position watching as people started to come to the balcony one by one.
Changing directions Kris moved to meet up with Danika. Taking her hand Kris inspected her dress before looking up and smiling at her. “As good as your drawing skills are, Dani, they didn’t do honour to the dress nor to it’s current wearer. You look more magical than I could have ever imagined. I’m almost speechless from the view,” Kris said admiring his friend and carelessly banishing all thoughts of Cole. Why bother with someone like him, when he could enjoy much better company?

Mary looked up at Dawn as she spoke to her then gave a small smile. “Well of course introductions are in order Dawn but you seemed a bit preoccupied with your entrance and dinner. If we have a few moments to spare now though I think it a good time to personally wish you a happy birthday and say that you look absolutely stunning.” Mary said paying her complements with a small smirk knowing she had yet to introduce her cousin as Dawn had so blatantly pointed out. “Dawn this is my cousin Jeremy Evans, he will be beginning his fifth year at Durmstang this fall. Jeremy, I am sure you know of Dawn McGrogan seeing as this is her party.” Jeremy nodded his head and muttered a happy birthday to Dawn as Mary took another sip of her drink.
Kris came over and said hello. She was going to respond to his comment on locking her up when he pulled on her hair lightly. Though she knew he was only kidding she feint offence and turned from him with an obviously put on pout as he moved on to Dani then Dawn.
Mary “finished” her meal – not eating much – and then followed a few others out to the balcony thankful Jeremy was still eating. She looked around and noticed Kris with Dani and decided that would be a good pair to join for conversation. She approached and took Kris’ arm in hers as he complemented Dani on her dress. “Does this boy never stop with his antics?” Mary asked Danika with a slight giggle. “You really do look wonderful though deary.”

She exchanged pleasantries with random attendants of Dawn's party, giving many of them little attention until Kris walked by, pausing for a moment to compliment her dress. It was not the one she had shown him months before at Hogwarts, but it was still a Yakov one of a kind. A slight smile came to her lips as she heard him speak of time later to admire it and she nodded. She was starting to enjoy his company, which was more than she could say for most.
She did not have much time with other parties attendants before Kris returned. She smiled slightly at him as she showered her with compliments, as he usually did. "I decide to take a different approach than my original intentions for a gown to wear to the party, but I think it came out quite well." The words barely escaped her lips when they were joined by Mary--a former third year who she had decided with proper training could be a respectable Slytherin. "I don't mind him as long as he speaks well of my designs."

Kris looked up and smiled at Mary as she approached them. Offering his arm Mary took it while Kris feinted mock hurt at Mary’s words: “My antics? But they are the reason why you two girls love me!” A quick wink to accompany the words, showing hat Kris hadn’t meant them very seriously, “Besides what should a guy do but try to pour beauty in words? I am in the company of two ladies that could compete with angels with their beauty.” Smiling at both girls in turn – they really did look good, Kris thought about it for a moment. He actually had more female acquaintances than male. Acquintances counting also the girls he had dated previously – it made a rather nice number all together.
Letting his eyes glide over the guests here right now Kris wondered briefly. After graduation – would he even see any of them anymore? Bringing himself back from his thoughts Kris’s eyes returned to his companions. “The dress came out very well. And I speak well of your designs – the ones I’ve seen – because they deserve to be admired,” the words softly slipped from Kris’s lips and were accompanied for a smile that added charm to Kris.

Dawn finished her meal as she looked around the table. A few people left to go to the deck where as some were still sitting and talking at the table. Kris came up to Dawn and said some enchanting words. "Why thank you. Such a gentleman." Dawn grinned as he kissed her hand. Dawn watched as he walked away. Turning to Mary, Dawn sipped her drink as she listened to the introduction. "Ah, Well thank you Mary for comming. And Jeremy, do make yourself at home. No need to sit quietly. Unless you are mute." she said as a side comment as she nodded and took another sip of her drink. The tingling caressed her lips and tongue as she swallowed. Slowly pushing her chair back, she stood up. "I am retiring to the garden and deck if anyone cares to join." Making her way from the table shen went to the deck.
Walking through the french doors she stepped outside as the band was in mid-song. It seemed like the perfect moment. Dawn's colored lips streched as a smiled emerged. Sipping her drink again she walked over to the stairs. Stepping down the four stairs leading to the garden her heels clicked the stone as she made her way. The shine from the moon and a few lit candles shimmered off the pond setting the perfect mood. Dawn turned and looked back at her house as she heard people laughing, talking, and music being played. The Perfect birthday.
Steading her steps she begain on her way back to the deck. gracefully sliding her hand on the iron hand rail she walked up the four stone stairs to the dark mahogany wood room. Turning to her right she made her way over to the side where a few tables and chairs were set up.

It was evening and already Saski was fuming for the second time that day. “What do you mean it isn’t here yet?” she screamed at her house elf. “I wanted it here last night!” she yelled as she tied the sash on her robe. She stalked out of her room, the house elf, Filan running after her. “I’m sorry Miss, but I sent the note like you said, they said it won’t be here till later.” She turned on him eyes ablaze. “Later when? Today is her birthday and her party is tonight!” Saski had ordered Dawn’s gift from a jeweller in Switzerland, Franz something or other, and now it wasn’t ready when she wanted. He was never getting her business again. Incompetent twit. Dawn was turning seventeen and there was no way that Saski was going to show up to her party without the precise gift she had arduously picked out, she wasn’t going to have it. “Tell Nathaniel to get the carriage ready, I’m going to Switzerland,” she said as she stormed passed the house elf and back to her room to get ready. Filan disappeared in a blink and was later scene scurrying towards the carriage house.
Saski was ready a few minutes later, she was wearing a Versace number she had picked up while travelling through New York. Yes muggles were beastly, but some of their designers were worth keeping around for a bit. She stepped out in her designer boots and black ensemble and strutted down the numerous staircases to the front door, where Nathaniel was waiting with her carriage. “Make sure my dress and everything else I’ll need for the party is ready by the time I get back. I’m going to be cutting it close and I don’t have time to waste trying to find the things you misplaced,” she annoyed. She was already aware that she was going to be late for this party, and it was putting her in the worst of moods, and needless to say Dawn would be none to pleased either. The carriage took off a few seconds later and Saski was on her way to raise hell all for the sake of her friend’s birthday.
She returned home at 8:45 pm, there was no way she was getting to Scotland in fifteen minutes. She swept through the house, Dawn’s gifts in hand and ran up to her room. She placed the boxes on her bed as she moved with lightening speed to her bathroom to shower and get ready. She had raised hell and beyond for those gifts, and she made sure that Franz wasn’t going to be in business after that day, but her friend was worth it. She stepped out the bathroom and started doing her hair, she was wearing it curly this evening and pinned up with the tendril falling delicately around her face and neck. She turned to her dress, at least that fool house elf hadn’t botched it as her emerald green dress lay on her bed. She stepped into the strapless dress and pulled it up, zipping it up the back. It had a split that went up her right thigh and a diamond broche at the centre of the heart-shaped bust line. She had Filan put on her shoes as she finished her face.
Several minutes later, she was leaving the house, the clock saying an annoying 9:30pm. The carriage was gone as soon as Saski was in properly. She arrived at McGrogan Manor at approximately half an hour later. Nathaniel helped her out the carriage and she was met by Quinn and Fryance as she moved from the front door and through the house. “They’ve just finished dinner Miss Stark, they’ll be on the deck,” she was informed by Fryance. She walked through the house, already knowing her way. So she had missed dinner, she wasn’t all that hungry anyway. She made her way to the deck where she found Dawn, “Hello birthday girl,” she said with a smirk.

Kris tilted his head calmly listening to the musicians playing somewhere out of sight. They were relatively good. And the choice of music didn’t grate one’s nerves. The guests had pretty much quieted down and mostly gathered into smaller groups. Duo’s and trios. His eyes sliding half-shut Kris enjoyed the fresh air and the music for a few moments. Lifting himself Kris dropped a quick peck on Mary’s temple before letting his arm slid away from the younger girl’s shoulders. “I’ll be back, my ladies, hopefully you will save a dance for your humble servant,” a teasing half-bow and Kris had already slipped away.
Straightening out again Kris turned and made his way through the guests calmly, placing his glass of wine, from which h had barely taken a sip or two, on the plate of a passing house-elf. Dawn was approached by a girl that Kris identified as Saski Stark. Nice family. One of the Queens as well. Kris hadn’t really seen her at the dinner before, but it didn’t really matter either. Not letting the girls appearance hinder himself Kris glided forward calmly stopping upon reaching the two girls. “Saski, enchanting dress,” Kris greeted Saski calmly before smiling charmingly at both girls, before giving Dawn a half-bow, “Dawn, may I request the pleasure of one dance with you? I promise I won’t trod on your toes. But should I misstep, you can only blame yourself. It’s most certainly not fair to daze every guys mind so much they can’t eat, walk nor talk in your presence properly anymore.” Kris straightened smiling at Dawn calmly. Kris was a rather good dancer. All purebloods were taught to dance, but an innocent and easy-going conversation at the same time never hurt anyone. Tilting his head calmly with a small smile still playing at the corners of his lips Kris waited for Dawn’s answer.

The food was delicious. Gregory had made a great choice to come to the party. Greg grinned over at Vincent to see if he was enjoying the grub as much as he was. The party was interrupted by a late arrival. Cole Waters. That boy always had to make a scene. Greg watched in interest as the boy entered, and in a totally surprising move. Dawn allowed him to stay. Cole looked pretty comfortable conversing with Dawn and Aden and the rest of the guest around him. Greg smirked and than went back to his food.
Slowly people began to finished their food and began to drift away to the balcony. Greg would have joined them sooner but he kept going back for thirds, than fourths, than fifth helpings. Finally, it seemed the mountain of a boy was finally full and he sat back and sighed in contentment. Greg nudged Vince and than stood up and picked up his glass and made his way outside onto the balcony. Greg stood and looked at the separate groups of people conversing and made his way over to the railing and looked out. He turned and placed his back on the railing and waited for Vince to show up as he looked out at the gathering.

After a short conversation with Cole, Aden returned calmly and quietly to his meal. It seemed the party was a huge success already. Aden couldn't help but feel a bit of pride knowing that he had helped in keeping it going. Shortly after Kris came swooping by and offered Dawn a compliment and than made his way out to the balcony. Aden glanced at Cole and saw a distinct look come across his face as he looked at Kris's actions. Cole than excused himself from the table and made a unusually straight path after Kris. Aden sensed trouble, but he knew both boys pretty well, they all three were dorm mates. They wouldn't start much here.
Aden finished his meal and picked up his glass and left the table shortly before the big group of people. He didn't feel like mingling to much so instead he moved over to a section where Dawn had placed some tables and chairs. Aden grabbed a chair and spun it around and than straddled it so that he was sitting back wards on the chair. Aden sighed and sipped from his glass as the music began to play and he looked out at the gathering. Dawn also came up shortly after and than Saski Stark made a appearance. Another late show. Aden was surprised, Dawn had allowed two people to show up late. This was new, although Saski was nearly expected to be allowed to show up a bit late. Aden glanced at them as the two began a conversation and than looked back out at the other guests.

Trinity ate her meal in silence, the dinner was fabulous, nothing less than what Trinity had expected, possibly more. It was one of her favorite dishes and this was the best she had ever seen it prepared. She sat simply listening to the other conversations around her. She was not one to interrupt a conversation, especially when she did not know the people very well.
Dinner carried on for a short 45 mins before people began to mingle out through the other areas of the house, conversing politely with one another. Trinity did not know many of the people, so she looked around curiously to see where she might be able to fit into a conversation. In the corner of the room, sitting at a small table, was a handsome young man. Trinity immediately recognized him as Dawn's younger brother, Aden, the polite and charming one.
Trinity walked over to Aden a coy smile crossing her porcelain face. She held out her hand to him politely, "I don't believe we have had an official conversation yet," she said, "Mind if I sit with you?" She stood casually sipping her drink waiting for Aden to invite her to sit, she had no doubt that he would.
