Jack frowned at Fiona as she talked about how her father wasn't sacrificing his family. Jack stopped to consider this as he thought back on what his father had told him. "People do what their told because if they don't they will be punished. That's what I'm going to inflict upon you Jack. Since words don't seem to bother you, maybe pain will..." Jack swallowed hard, knowing that this was the case with Fiona. He hadn't exactly understood her meaning behind the words she had spoken, but he got the picture clear enough. He shifted in his chair, leaning back against it. He looked out at the darkness but saw nothing yet, so he turned back to Fiona. The real reason for looking out in the darkness was to look for an excuse to escape answering this. He knew there was no escaping so he gathered up all the moral fiber he had left to say there words he wanted to.
"Your father already has sacrificed his family. By working for the Dark Lord. If he disobeys Him, then he will be punished. If the Dark Lord feels like it, he could use you or anyone else in your family for means of punishment. It has happened before at his hands and it will happen again. So, in the horrible truth, your father has put you on the line." Jack turned away from her, feeling angry at himself for saying such a thing. It was true, yes, but he knew that most people would not accept the truth, and who knew what Fiona would think about it. She seemed positive that her father would never put her on the line for his own beliefs, but it has already happened. The darkness was denser than ever and Jack could tell the rain had stopped. Suddenly, a figure loomed out of the darkness. It could only be one person. Jack didn't turn to face Fiona as he spoke. "I think he's waiting for you. Better get going." Standing up, he let his chair scrape across the floor loudly as he took the last drink of his coffee. He wasn't going to leave until Fiona left, for he wasn't sure if he liked the idea of meeting Mr. O'Reilly.
