Blake sniggered in the back of the room, having just arrived. The only reason Blake ever went to History of Magic was to learn about new stuff for the Dark Arts. He never heard any of it, but he kept going, all the same. Binns would eventually tell about the Dark Lord, Grindlewald, or Herpo the Foul. He thought Binns might eventually have something interesting to say. Boy, was he wrong.
"Merlin, what an answer!" he whispered, loudly enough for the whole room to hear. It appeared as if Binns did not notice though. He didn't have many friends, but this Patricia Dawsinson seemed to be an excellent Slytherin. "Nice, Dawsinson." he whispered to her.

Patricia cocked her head at the boy. She noticed he was in slytherin and rather cute. "Thanks" she said with wink. "Just thought I would liven up the place." She said with a cute smile This guy would put you to sleep" she said with a cute little smirk as she rolled her eyes. She hated this class, all the people in it were lowlifes. And there was never anybody for her really to talk to. But this boy seemed worthy enough to talk to for Patricia's standards.

Sita was a little surprised when Professor Binns directed her to the tattered copies in the shared cupboard. The small stock lay alongside a greater number of much more pristine-looking copies of 'A History of Magic'. Even though they used this textbook, with its delicate, thin parchment much more often than other textbooks in History of Magic, accounting for Sita's surprise at using a different book, the specimens of it which students had deposited in the cupboard at the end of their seventh year (or probably for many of them, their fifth year) were in much better condition than the 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them'. Sita thought this must be because they'd barely been opened, not making particularly attractive reading material due to the overwhelming volume of parchment in them and the boring nature of the lessons which hardly encouraged participation. The top copy had an almost glossy sheen to its leather cover, while she could see others were of a rough texture, but all were in good condition. Must be changing fashions, she thought, almost snorting at the thought of that having any effect on such a textbook. Sita pulled out a less presentable copy of 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' and then returned to her seat.
She really couldn't keep her attention on the subject matter as the lesson progressed. She wasn't really sure whether it was at all interesting or not, although probably not since Sita was not someone that delighted in academic details; just visual ones, and she didn't have much chance to find out because Binns' drone did nothing but encourage her brain into hibernation. She reflected more on the small turn-out to the class and the complete lack of enthusiasm with which those present were responding to the lesson. Although the information with which Binns had been plying them had washed completely over her, his last question did stick in her head. It sounded quite easy. She consulted her textbook, wishing it had a better index - or at least that she was better at using indexes. But eventually she found the right answer, completely different from the answer the Slytherin girl had just given. Sita had wondered why she sounded so amused - after all, with her ignorance, it might as well have been right as wrong.
Sita put her hand up but launched straight into talking. The lesson was already going quite slowly without it needing her hesitation. Besides, what she'd read had raised a question in her mind and she wanted an answer to it now - not later. "It was a Minister of Magic called Grogan Stump, sir," she informed him, "and he decided that you were a Being if you were intelligent to understand, and take some of the responsibility of making, the laws of the um... 'magical community'," she said, reading the last bit out of the textbook in front of her, "but um... sir, doesn't that have problems too? I mean, some people have unusually low intelligence due to how they were born or some curse that's been put on them and so they can't understand laws. But that doesn't make them less human does it? They're still a 'being' - you can hardly call them 'beasts'. And also, if the Ministry were to make some really stupid legislation that I couldn't understand the reasons for no matter how hard I tried, would that make me not be a being? Because it wouldn't be anything to do with me really, more them that wasn't intelligent enough."

"Not sure if we ever officially met. I'm Blake Fuller." He whispered these words, so as Binns would not hear them. He didn't get a good look at her before, seeing only the back of her head. He noticed she was rather pretty. He was shocked to hear someone talk to him like this. He wasn't angry, no, nor sad. He was actually rather happy. For the first time in his life at Hogwarts, he was not angry, or bored.
Binns went on to discuss magical beasts some more. It was the most boring lesson he's ever attended.

Patricia smirked at the boy "Dawsinson, Patrica" She rather liked this boy, maybe more than Richard. He just seemed like a how you say, a true Slytherin. "So your a Slytherin. Best house if I do say so myself." She winked at him. "All the rest of these lowlifes, need to get a life" she said with a sweet chuckle. She glanced over at professor Binns who was off in his world of History, she grunted at the thought. She then looked back at the boy. "I haven't seen you around the common room?" she tilted her head with smile as her long blonde hair fell of her shoulders.

"Nice to meet you, Patricia. No, I don't really hang around the common room much. People just don't really like to be with me, almost as much as I don't really want to be with them. I'm not bad, or weird, just keep to myself." He was starting to like History of Magic. He was fine not hearing about the Dark Lord, or Herpo, he liked the people in his class. Or at least Patricia. She was, at least, decent. No, he though. She's better than decent. She's a friend.

Patricia smiled. This boy was decant to her standereds. "Well people don't like me either. Your not alone!" she then rolled her eyes at the thought. The only people who liked her, were Rachel and Richard. But she was getting the feeling Richard was more interested in Rachel, more than his own girlfriend. Plus she still had detention with stiff faced McGonagall for a couple more days. She then looked back at Professor Binns, was being more of a drown then ever. She glanced over at Blake, with smiled and began to sarcastically snore "SNORRE" she said with a smile and rolled her eyes.

Blake smiled. He was having fun, in History of Magic. Wow, that never happens. "I hope he talks about the Dark Lord, or Grindlewald. I wanna learn how they got so good." It was true. As much as he admired the Dark Lord and Grindlewald, he wanted to be better than they were. Little did he know how much he had to do after Hogwarts to be that powerful. He listened to Binns a little longer, occasionally stealing glances at Patricia. Binns wasn't going to talk about them today, obviously, and he knew better than to ask him about them.

"Yeah, sure" He started taking notes on the various creatures, but not many were dangerous. "Proffesor Binns?" he asked. "What kinda creatures are very dangerous? And what class are they in?"

Professor Binns looked a bit shocked when he heard that one of his Slytherin students was beginning to show a bit of interest in the classroom. "Very good, Ms. Mehadi, take 5 points for Hufflepuff. And now to answer Mr. Fuller's question." Binns said as he moved slightly toward his book. He couldn't believe that at one time he had this whole class planned out and it wasn't following his plan only because his students were interested in this type of lesson. "The Ministry gives us a breakdown of the way they classify creatures by level of dangerousness on page XXII in our Fantastic Beasts book. This classification starts with the most dangerous and goes down to least dangerous, those given five X's are the most dangerous, or said to be wizard killers and/or impossible to train or domesticate, while those given one X are considered boring. The run down is fairly simple." Professor Binns said moving over to the chalk board that was standing near his desk. A wave of his wand and a list appeared: - XXXXX- Known Wizard Killer/ Impossible to train or domesticate
- XXXX- Dangerous/ Requires Specialist Knowledge/ Skilled Wizards May Handle
- XXX- Competent Wizards should Cope
- XX - Harmless/ May be domesticated
- X- Boring
[/li][/ul] "This is the Ministry's classifications. Take note of them as they may be on end of term exams. As for the creatures that are considered the most dangerous, the list consists of eleven known classified creatures." Binns said waving his wand again to make yet another list on the blackboard, - Acromantula - monstrous eight eyed spider capable of human speech
- Basilisk (also known as the King of Serpents, and the enemy to the Acromantula)- large snake that can grow to fifty feet in length. To look into the Basilisk's eyes means sudden death, but to see it's reflection leads only to paralysis.
- Chimera - Greek monster with a lion's head, goat's body and a dragon's tail.
- Dragons of every breed
- Lethifold (also known as Living Shroud)- resembles a black cloak approximately a half an inch thick that glides along the ground at night, attacking it's victims as they sleep
- Manticore- a Greek creature with the head of a man body of a lion and tail of a scorpion, said to croon as it devours its prey
- Nundu- a giant leopard which moves silently and who's breath causes disease virulent enough to wipe out entire villages
- Quintaped (the Hairy MacBoon as it is sometimes called)- carnivorous beast who prefers the taste of humans. The creature's low slung body is covered with reddish brown hair and it has five legs, each ending in a club foot.
- Werewolves- when transformed of course.- A human whom has been bitten by another werewolf and had transformed under the light of the full moon. Without their transformation, they are as harmless as any other human.
- Some Breeds of Winged Horses such as Thestrals. A Thestral is a black winged horse which possesses the power of invisibility and is said to be very unlucky.
[/li][/ul] "This list is short, but is at the moment all of the known most dangerous creatures. Many creatures classified as level Four dangerous are only classified that way as they deserve respect. This list includes those of the merperson species and the centaurs. Phoenixes are classified in this category, not because they are dangerous, but because very few wizards have ever succeeded in domesticating one." Professor Binns added with a smile. "This brings me to your homework assignment class. I would like for each of you to pick any one creature, preferably level XXX or higher but not required, out of the listing that Mr. Scamander has given in the back of Fantastic Beasts and where to find them and write a 300 word paper on the creature and its classification. Also include your thoughts as to why the creature is classified within it's present level. This assignment will be due at the end of next week. Any other questions?" ((Sorry for the long wait for the reply. Computer has been sick.))

Patrica listened as he named of diffrent creature, and what distruction they caused. But one caught her eye, about; the creature attacks when you sleep. She raised her hand. This was rather interesting for once. She actually wanted to pay attention in this class. " Professor.. You never explained what exactly a Lethifold does." she said while prepositioning herself up right. "We know that it attacks people, but how? May you describe in detail?" she asked with a bright innocent smile. "Incase...we have an attack, what to do?" she said nodding with a gleam, as she raised a mischievous eyebrow at Blake.
It was never good to talk about evil planes with Patricia, she would get rapped up in them. And only them. Her being curious would get her imaginaton soreing, and her plans pumping. Knowledge of creatures of darkness mad her head spin, she loved the idea. She really was interested and listened intently as the teacher spoke.
