Jack frowned in annoyance as his spell didn't work. He did so want to win this duel, especially since it was against Cass, a Gryffindor. Besides, it wouldn't do any good if it got around that he lost to her, but that wasn't what worried him. It was his own esteem that needed the boost with this win, and if he lost, he would be a grouch for another month, most likely. He blinked as Cass cast the rather simple Silencio charm, but did not hesitate in raising his wand and shouting, "Protego!"
