Pandora looked up at Mariza with a chillingly calm gaze. All the warmth was suddenly gone from her face. “And you should be careful who you insult.” Pandora said with an eerie note of cold to her voice. There was no anger at all in her voice, just a calm, cold malice. She glanced back over at Gerek who quickly introduced himself to Emma. She turned back to her book and flipped delicately through its pages.

Mariza looked at Pandora, what was wrong with her. Then her mind flicked up a little green flag. Slytherin. It was so obvious now, the attitude, the way she spoke. Mariza had never met a young slytherin before, just old ones, her mother and father had worked with. She had met many rich slytherins talk with her mother about the ministry and her father about way they want to be portrayed in his newspaper. But she had never met one so young before. It didn't bother her, on the contray, it relieved her. At least her behaviour was by birth and blood not by pure cruelness.
"I'm very sorry Pandora," she whispered to Pandora. She bent down to get something from her bag. A large, marron book.

Gerek watched the girls talk to each other. They still weren't getting along very well. He knew they both were trying to. At least Mariza was feeling a little more comfortable. She was speaking freely and there was no more fear in her voice. Pandora and Mariza might get along in the long run but right now all they had to do was tolerate each other.

Pandora looked up over the top of her book at Mariza. Mariza’s apology and the humble way in which she said it calmed Pandora’s temper a bit. She looked back down at her book and without looking up at Mariza asked, “What are you reading?” Her voice had lost the cold it held before and she seemed distant but not unfriendly again.

Mariza looked from behind her own book, now was she going to be rude and tell Pandora she was reading a book and make them argue again or just politely tell her what it was. Mariza pondered this for a while and then smiled gently. "It's a book my father gave me. It's about shortcuts and things you can do with potions," she said. "It was given to him by someone he once worked for... or worked with, I can't remember."

Gerek watched the two and smiled. They were starting to get along it looked like. If they could keep the politeness at a good level they could become really good friends.

Pandora finally lifted her gaze to settle on Mariza again. "So what is the next potion you're going to try brewing?" The question wasn't said rudely or with any hatred.

Mariza found this question a bit strange but she answered none of the less. "I don't know, I think I'll concentrate on school work for the time being and if I feel it's not pushing hard enough then I'll work on one then," Mariza said. She had the tiniest suspicion that Pandora was going to say she was working on something that Mariza hadn't even heard of.

"Ah." Pandora said non-commitally. "I thought perhaps you were reviewing a paticular recipie." She looked at the cover to Mariza's book but could not make out the title. "I don't recognise the binding of that potions book. May I see it?" Pandora asked in a vaugely friendly tone. She stretched out one slender hand in anticipation.

Mariza looked at her for a while and finally let her have the book. She only questioned this decision when Pandora was reading it but for two reasons. Firstly, some of it was written in french and did she want Pandora reading it. Gerek seemed happy that Mariza had without any words, given the book to Pandora. The book was proberly wasn't very valuable as some had hand-written it and a weird someone at that. Mariza remembered when the man came to visit, he was tall, hooded and if she remembered correctly, he was scary as well. To her, that's what she imagined all potion masters to look like that. A shiver of dread past Mariza's face as she repressed the memory.

Gerek also opened his truck taking out of it a big hardback book. The book was a black faded color. It was really torn up. There was so much dirt on it and dust that it was hard to read the title. It was by memory Gerek knew it. It was "Useful Attacking and Defending Spells" Gerek opened the book to about the hundredth page. Gerek was skimming it looking for a good spell. This spell is very useful when trying to do a successful counter-attack.You must d- Gerek was already tired of the book.
He lay the book back in the trunk and went back to observing the two girls. Mariza just had handed over her book to Pandora. Gerek smiled and then got a dead mouse out of his trunk and threw it up to sonic. Sonic nearly tipped over in his cage trying to grab it with his leg. Sonic caught it and greedily ate in whole.

Pandora flipped lazily through the pages of Mariza’s book. She could read most of it (her French wasn’t too bad, all those forced lessons with her mother paid off) but she couldn’t quite translate all of the words. She flipped through several of the pages, resting on the potions she didn’t recognize. Someone had hand written the whole thing and a few of these potions were obviously experimental. Pandora stopped on one particular variation of a poison and studied it for a moment. Her own book held the original formula this one was based off of, but whoever wrote this had added a few things to make the victim suffer slightly longer before succumbing. Pandora flipped through her own book till she found the original potion recipe and carefully compared the two. By adding a little more fern juice mixed with platypus venom, one could open all the pain receptors in the victim’s nervous system and force them to endure incredible agony before they die. It was pure genius. Pandora smiled a creepy little smile and reached up to pull a quill out of her trunk. She jotted down the variation in the margin of her new book and continued thumbing through the pages of Mariza’s tome. “This is very interesting,” she breathed softly. Pandora seemed genuinely fascinated by the book. “Who wrote this?” she asked softly as she continued to scan its pages.
Orpheus watched Gerek greedily as he threw a dead mouse to Sonic. He let out a short little growl-chirp noise and looked up at Gerek expectantly.

Mariza thought about it for a while, she didn't actually know who had written the book, her father had just given it to her out pure kindness. He had warned her not to try some of potions at the back and she was going to tell Pandora but she seemed to be looking at potions at the front of the book and she didn't want to bother her. "Oh, sorry Pandora-i'm not actually sure who wrote the book! Maybe we can research it later together?" Mariza smiled pleasantly, pleased she had come up with a reason for the two girls to get together later.

Emma was glancing between the two as they talked, an expression of pure bewilderment set upon her pale face. She was beginning to get slightly bored-potions really wasn't her strong subject. Glancing at Gerek, she hurriedly rushed to change the subject. "I suppose its written by just an old author- doesn't matter really!" She froze as the two girls threw dagger looks at her. "I mean-of course it matters! He..he he..." Emma was loosing her touch and fast. Once again she tried to change the subject, maybe, she thought, to something that wouldn't get her thrown out the window. "So-Quidditch! Who likes it?" She said, glancing around the room in desperation. Gerek was still reading but Mariza and Pandora's gazes were beginning to soften. She waited for them to decide whether to answer positively or not.

Pandora nodded absently as she continued thumbing through the pages jotting down notes as she went. Soon many of the pages of her own book were filled with little notes from Mariza's copy. "Interesting," she muttered, "I should like to meet whoever wrote this." She glanced up at Mariza again and managed a smile again. "Perhaps it would indeed be wise to research this further."

Pandora glanced over at Emma who was trying to change the subject if she could. Pandora sat back and looked back down at the two books in her lap. "I've never had much use for sports," she said quietly. The statement was obviously true too, for her skin was the sickly pale of someone who didn't get outside much. Pandora was small, even for her age, and she didn't look too terribly muscular.

Emma smiled understandingly as Pandora told her about how she wasn't all that keen on Quidditch. Mariza was glancing through Gerek's book with him, and Orpheus was asleep now, curled comfortably in Pandora's lap, next to the books. "Oh, well i like it! But we don't have to talk about that, what about pets-I see Orpheus is a cat, hehe obviously, but do you have any other pets at home?"

Mariza looked at Emma then to Pandora and finally to Gerek. He was still concentrating on the book, he had finally found where the dangerous parts came in. She was still you shy to answer first but she didn't want to make Emma feel unwelcomed. "I have Mercedes and Belle who's a white cat, she's very sweet but a bit self-centred and wants all the attention," Mariza said giggling a little at the memory of the cat at home who truly wished it was a lion.

Pleased someone had answered her happily, Emma laughed out loud at the thought of Belle, and then said happily- "I have a white owl, she totally gorgeous. I named her Armani after a famous witch. I bet she wishes she could be here!" Emma nodded towards Gerek's Sonic, who was still nibbling on the dead rodent. "She loves the company of other owls-adores it. At home all of my family either have toads or cats, my twin Rogir and i are the only ones with owls. I could get her down actually..." Emma indicated that Armani was in the racks above them. "Would you mind?"

Pandora watched the two other girls talking happily and absently reached down to stroke Orpheus' ear. He shifted uhappily amid the books and tried to find a comfy spot, finally he settled down against Pandora's hip again. Pandora watched Emma get up to get her owl down and said softly, "Just don't let it out of the cage. Orpheus is a little hungry." Then she turned back to the books and flipped through some of the latter half of the book.
