Rayne was very disappointed and she kept her eyes cast downwards as Vlad pulled away and left. She'd asked him to stay for her sake and he couldn't do it. She didn't blame him he was a very shy person and Rachel doing that didn't help at all. In fact as uncomfortable as the entire lunch had been that was the boiling point she hoped Rachel realized she was the one who drove him off. Satisfied that Vlad was out of the picture for the time being she turned to Rachel eyes blazing. She didn't like Rachel and she was almost positive Rachel despised her. She was now alone with Rachel and there was no Vlad to impress or be scared that she would scare off.
"Happy now?" She asked her eyes went from the soft caring blueish gray that they were when she had asked Vlad to stay with her to a pure icy blue that expressed pure seething anger at the girl who had ruined the lunch Vlad had asked her to. She hoped Rachel would stay and that they'd duke it out she was certainly ready for it.

"Good one, Rayne," Rachel smirked as Vlad got up to leave. She knew she didn't like Vlad, Rayne knew she didn't like Vlad, even Vlad probably knew she didn't like Vlad, but she was getting a lot of enjoyment out of messing with them. Rayne's dislike of her just made the whole situation funny. In fact, the look Rayne was giving her was priceless. She looked like she was ready for an all-out fight, and that was something Rachel was practiced in. She was ready. She didn't know what it was about Rayne that Rachel didn't like, but she really didn't like her.
"If you want my opinion, he would've stayed if you kissed him," she said, leaning forward towards Rayne and giggling. "Or maybe if I had kissed him." She took another bite of pudding and stared at Rayne, smiling. "Don't you reckon?"

Rose hummed a blissful tune as she walked down the corridors to the Great Hall. Something about this time of year made her happy, despite how lonely things might get with everyone leaving for the break. That morning she woke up early, and headed out to the courtyard to read, but even that became boring after a few hours. There was a flicker of hope she might run into her new friends as she made her way to the Great Hall.
Walking in, she smiled as the familiar floating candles lighted the room, and the Christmas tree at the end of the hall twinkled and shimmered in the light. The massive room was empty except for random groups dotted the room, eating and talking.
Then she saw Rayne, in obvious conflict with another girl. She stopped, a Slytherin. By the way they were looking at each other it convinced her she came at the right time. What could they be fighting about? Other than the apparent difference between houses. She shook her head to pull herself back into reality as she strode over to the two.
"Rayne!" Rose greeted her friend with a smile, sitting down on her right, purposely in between the two girls. "Who's your friend?" She asked, glancing with wide eyed innocence from Rayne to the other girl. She spoke the word 'friend' with such subtle sarcasm that only Rayne had been able to hear it before.

"I'm Rachel," she said, answering before Rayne could speak. "Rayne and I are the best of friends," she added sweetly. She turned to the new girl and looked her up and down, assessing her. She was a Ravenclaw, which wasn't ideal but acceptable, and in her year. She seemed cheerful. Too cheerful to be intelligent. And she was Rayne's friend. To Rachel, this was almost social suicide.
"Don't you have perfect timing," she purred, "Rayne was just about to tell me all about that friend of hers, Vlad. Isn't he just the cutest?" She asked, looking Rayne in the eye and smirking. "A little shy for my tastes though. Maybe he and Rayne should get something going on," she continued, taking a bite of her pudding. "Don't you agree? Sorry, I didn't catch your name." Rachel extended her hand. This was going to be one entertaining evening.

Rayne coldn't help but smile when she heard her best friend Rose's voice. "Rose! Hey love this is Rachel as she has already mentioned." Rayne was so happy that Rose had shown up when she did. Kind of like their first meeting it was like they were connected mentally. Their first meeting had occured in such a manner. Rose had shown up when Rayne was in much distress and pretty much come to her rescue. It was of no surprise that she would choose here and now to come to her rescue again.
Rayne turned to Rachel seething. If she kept talking about Vlad like he was a joke to her then there was going to be some dire consequences. Not just for Rachel who she would not only curse with some very mean curses not taught until 6th year in Hogwarts but because after she got through cursing the girl to high heaven she would forget wands and magic and just straight out punch Rachel damaging that perfect little face of hers. And after she was finished Rayne would be in trouble as well for not only using magic but also violence against another student. Although seeing as how it was Rachel it might be worth it in fact Rayne was pretty sure it was worth it and was willing to find out.
Knowing Rose would have her back and knowing it wasn't a fair fight she still pulled out her wand. "You might want to quit while you're ahead love." She said focusing on Rachel her eyes showing nothing but raw seething hatred for the girl in front of her.

"And as Rayne said, I'm Rose." Rose nodded a greeting to Rachel rather than shake her hand. The expressions on people's faces towards others often show how they are feeling, and how they might react. Or in Rayne's case, often what they want to do, but they're just contemplating the consequences in their head. Either way, Rose was there for a reason now. She would rarely get herself involved in arguments such as this but she would defend the right person.
Those last two little points Rachel made about Rayne and Vlad were priceless. Wait.. Vlad. That's who they were fighting about? She could have sworn she saw him in the hallways, but wasn't sure, this would explain it though.
What also explained this girl was that she was of Slytherin standards. Rose was intelligent enough to know that Slytherins, not unlike Rachel, had a competitive nature. What made themselves different than Gryffindors was that their competitive nature was at an unreasonable level, known to do anything to achieve what they believe is theirs. In her tone she appeared too arrogant to realize just how intelligent her and Rayne were, being of Ravenclaw house, and almost immune to manipulation. But, her words, spoken in that oh so innocent yet deceiving tone, were spoken in vain.
She thought maybe after this was done she should find Vlad, and get his side of the story. But for now she sat firm next to her friend. Laying her book on the table behind her seat, she turned to Rachel and spoke after Rayne. "Yes I do believe you are un-aware of what you are actually saying" Her Irish accent was there, attempting what Rachel was doing, speaking in such a manner one might consider it patronizing. She knew Rayne was angry, but she put her hand on Rayne's wand just above hers and shot her a warning look. Knowing Rayne would never do anything to get herself in deep trouble, or expelled, she took her hand off and relaxed, grabbing a piece of bread from behind her and taking a bite.

Rayne sighed and repocketed her wand after Rose put her hand on it. Even though Rose hadn't said anything Rayne got her meaning. If she kept it up she would get herself in major trouble. Either because she would end up in the infirmary (highly unlikely) or she would get expelled for seriously endangering another student aka Rachel. Smiling at Rose and sending her a silent thank you she turned back to Rachel waiting to see what she would do next

Rachel smirked when she saw Rayne pull out her wand and threaten her. And she outright laughed when Rose had to restrain her. "Rayne, I think you're the one who should quit while you're ahead? You can't do anything to me. Oh, maybe right now you could. But the consequences would be grieveous. Though maybe I shouldn't be dissuading you. I think it would be fun to see you expelled. Just leave Vlad for me. Oooh, can you just see it?" Rachel said, leaning back in her chair and staring at the ceiling, a wicked smile on her lips. "Yeah, I don't really like him as a person, but as a body, whoa! Pretty hot. Well, for someone of his class anyway. Too good for you. In fact, Vlad and I could have a lot of fun," she said, smiling and looking Rayne in the eye. She took a long sip of her water. "Just a little tip, Rayne. You'll never win. Not against me, anyway."

A fist slammed the dining table, causing a few glasses to klink as they hit each other. It belonged to Rose. She knew what to do. She got up, collected her things and lingered a moment to straighten her shirt. A few heads had turned when she hit the table, so she made things out to be as normal as any other meal in the Great Hall, only coughing as she walked past Rachel towards the door. She half attempted to turn her head towards Rayne, and gave her an approving wink of the eye and a half smile, and walked on. If anything got to ridiculous, the best thing to do was to leave things as they were, Rayne could take care of herself.
"Merry Christmas." She said with a sigh under her breath.

Rachel couldn't help but laugh when Rose slammed her fist down on the table and walked away, coughing at she passed Rachel. Did that girl have no class at all? "Merry Christmas!" Rachel chirped at her before turning back to Rayne. "So Rayne, no one's here to protect you. And no one's here to hold you back. What are you going to do? Tell me right now. What are you going to do?" Rachel stared her in the eye, smirking slightly. "Go on now, don't be shy."

Rayne was about to burst with rage. She was talking about Vlad like a piece of meat. Who the hell did this girl think she was telling Rayne to use magic against her so she'd get expelled. If Rachel were half as smart as she thought she'd know you couldn't get expelled for unauthorized dueling. The most you could get was a weeks worth of detention and you would loose house points. Rayne knew this because she'd studied the rules before coming. Being as smart as Rayne was she'd known she'd come up against whores like Rachel and she would undoubtedly loose her temper and curse them. Knowing that she made absolutely sure she knew what she could get away with and what she couldn't. Cursing Rachel would earn her a weeks worth of detention and lost house points yes but it would be oh so gratifying in the end.
Rose seemed to feel the same way as Rayne. That this girl needed to be hurt not badly but just hurt a little so she knew she wasn't untouchable. Rachel calling out Merry Christmas to Rose in a cheery nothing is wrong here voice only fueled Rayne's anger. Not only was she treating Vlad like meat it was clear to her that Rachel was only using him and Rose as ammo against Rayne. No one got away with that. And it wasn't even because it was Rose and Vlad it could have been anyone and Rayne would still be in the rage she was in now. What kind of person could just use people like objects because they wanted to win a fight so badly.
Rayne laughed when Rachel pointed out that no one was there to restrain her. "You know love you haven't seen anyone restrain me not yet. I would like to point out to you though that I can't get expelled for use of magic just a detention and lost house points. Seeing as how my class is in the lead we can afford to loose some." Rayne took out her wand and began twirling it in her fingers. "Another interesting fact I have no friends I have nothing to do after class a little detention doesn't bother me none. Although the only down side to using magic is that you too have a wand. Of course you'd never reach it by the time I got of two hexes to stun and disable you."
Rayne's eyes were full of fire now she was so angry at this little sleeper that she was almost having troubles seeing straight. She was about to resolve that. In a blink of an eye Rayne muttered the spell that glued the recipients feet to the floor. Rayne threw her wand away and lunged at Rachel. Lucky for Rayne she couldn't get expelled for punching Rachel in her pretty little face either and that's exactly what she was going to do.

Rachel waited until she could feel Rayne's breath on her face before she calmly and forcefully punched Rayne square in the mouth, making Rayne fall with a deafening thud. Rising, Rachel smirked at the other girl.
"Haven't you ever heard of baiting, my dear Rayne? I figured I'd get a rise out of you by saying you'd get expelled, assuming you wouldn't know. But I suppose you do know. I must say, I'm impressed. You're more intelligent than you look. And the reason you have no friends, love, is because no one likes you. But I'm sure you're well aware of that. Nobody. Except maybe Rose, but that's not saying much, " Rachel said smoothly, staring Rayne in the eye from her higher position. She folded her knees so she was crouching. "And, honey, if you want some fun, try punching me when I'm unrestrained. There's no satisfaction in getting someone while their feet are stuck to the floor. It just means you're a weak, disgusting little witch." Rachel smiled. "Got it?"

Rayne got up and dusted her self off. She had known that was going to happen and yet she still tried it. Not saying a word to Rachel she walked past her and picked up her wand. How had she let herself get so caught up in a petty little fight like this? She was risking detention and loss of house points for what? One upping someone as rotten to the core as Rachel? What was she thinking!? Rayne sighed shaking her head. No the best thing to do was to go back to the common room and just forget this lunch had ever happened.
Rayne turned around before going "Accio wand." She said pointing her wand at Rachel. Rachel's wand flew into her hand. "When you find someone to unstick you this wand will be with the head or your house Professor Snape." She said and walked off.

Rachel watched Rayne get up and walk past her. This girl was something else. Completey and utterly useless to society. What kind of person gets beaten by a girl who has her feet stuck to the ground? Rachel watched as Rayne took her wand. Pathetic, she thought. The least she could do after being beaten would be to unstick Rachel's feet in humiliation and than run away like the dog she was. Nevertheless, Rachel loved a challenge. Although this would hardly be one.
"No problems, Rayne. I must say, you have a stormy temperament," Rachel called after her as Rayne walked away. The joke in itself was lame, but anything to rile Rayne was a winner. Looking around the Great Hall she smiled dazzingly at the numerous students who had watched everything. "Do you reckon I could sue for harrassment?" She asked sweetly.
