“What do you mean? Not expecting the best from this Valentine’s day?” Dana feigned mock-horror, “When you are in my company and wearing this lovely dress and have your friends around. What could be better?”
Dana couldn’t hold back her laughter anymore and grabbing Rayne’s hand started pulling her towards the stage: “Pardon, couldn’t resist the temptation to say that. I can’t resist practically everything… besides temptation.”
“And, yes, I’m singing along. You pick the song though and start and I’ll join,” seeing that the stage had cleared after a ‘cowboy’, who Dana thought was Justin Lionheart, left the stage, Dana jumped on the stage pulling Rayne with her and pulled her in the middle of the stage before grinning and winking at the other girl, “So what are we going to sing to this room full of ‘strangers’?”
Jordan had left the party only for a moment, and when she stepped back in, her outfit was totally different. Staring down at it, she sighed and crossed her arms in defiance. It wasn't a salsa outfit, it was a slick black glitter evening gown. She sighed again, and made her way to an empty chair. Not enjoying herself at all. She pulled her feet up under her, and rested her chin on her hands, watched as the people danced, and how some sang. Watch as they sipped punch, and ate cookies. She sat there, trying to guess who everybody was. That one's Jasmine, and that's Dana, that's Cass, that's Vanessa, that's D.J. That's Justin... The list was endless. She just watched, completely bored, and on the verge of leaving.

Lenora sang to herself while checking her reflection in the mirror. She watched the bottom of her blue dress flare out around her with a smile. The sky blue skirt fell to her side once again and Lenora put on some pale pink lipstick before heading out of the dorms. She nodded courtly to a person here and there as she made her way down the vast hallways toward the ballroom.
As she stepped into the room though her dress, which had matched her eyes perfectly, turned a brilliant shade of canary yellow. She grinned adoring the color but slightly upset that her eyes wouldn’t stand out quite as much anymore. It didn’t matter though because as soon as she introduced herself to someone she felt something stick to her face. Looking in a nearby mirror she saw she was wearing a yellow party mask that matched the dress perfectly and had lots of little jewels and feathers all over it.

Justin grinned and said " I love to sing, but enough with the flattery, you're making me blush." Noticing her eys get brighter, he winked and said, " Why do'nt you and I sing a song after those two up there?" indicating the two girls who had just gotten on stage. He could'nt help, but feel excited, he was already full of energy, and he was ready to bust loose with it. He looked around and waited for D.J. to answer his question.

D.J. smiled, "Just...one, minute." She told him as she squeezed through the crowd. This dress was annoying the heck out of her! She stepped out of the door, paced the front of it for a moment or two, then stepped back in. Looking down at her outfit, she nodded, and made her way back to Justin, "Much better." D.J. said as she pulled her hair into a pony tail, her outfit was less extravagant but, still a bit dressy. Though she didn't look like she was about to perform, "So, still up for the singing?" She asked with a tilt of her head.

Pyro smirked under his mask as he remembered the little duel they had had in the Room of Requirment.. he laughed. "oh, I see. So you are a Gryffindor, well well, how interesting. What would be your name?" he was beginning to feel better. This lighthearted chatter was bringing up his mood from the the crappy day he had been having.

"Simple but stylish," said the mirror in Robin Versnowa's dormitory as he prepared to leave for the Valentine's Day party. The popular seventh year flashed his boyish grin at his reflection before he left. He didn’t have a special girlfriend to celebrate Valentine's Day with this year, and for once he preferred it that way. He had tired of the many relationships he'd had all this time at Hogwarts, none of which had been serious. He was looking for somebody he could be serious about and have real feelings for, but sometimes he wondered if it was true that that there really was a 'soul-mate' or kindred spirit for everyone out there. Well, even if there was, he was not going to get into a relationship right now. He was afraid that he might be hurt and he didn't want that in his last year at Hogwarts. It was enough that the Dark Lord and his allies were already affecting the school so much it made him almost forget his worry concerning the upcoming NEWTs.
The recent events in the wizarding world had intensified his wish to be an Auror, and had made him study with a renewed energy and vigour. He was still the same care-free and sometimes reckless boy but now he had a goal in life he was really heading and working hard for. He was going to be an Auror, and every time he read the Daily Prophet and learnt of the Dark Lord's latest evil actions, he repeated that to himself. Today, however, he was going to try and enjoy himself, and take a break from everything. After all, Ginny had been rescued, Gryffindor had won their second match against Hufflepuff, and everything was currently going well for him. He was in a very good mood and ready for an evening of fun with his friends and fellow students at Hogwarts.
Robin walked down the corridor leading to the ballroom, and then to the table indicated on which there were several masks. Picking a black shiny leather one he put it on his face and watched his clothes transform in front of him. "I should have guessed something like this would happen," he thought amusedly. His clothes had transformed into what ballroom tango dancers wore, a stylish white shirt and black trousers. He had certainly never been dressed in such a formal style, but today he had to admit he liked it.
Robin felt a lot like dancing. He hadn’t done so in the Halloween ball as his date had been sick in the Hospital Wing and he had spent the night with her there, so when he spotted the brown hair he thought belonged to Maria Fleming, he walked up to her and then decided it must be her as he knew her height and size. Maria Fleming was not exactly a friend, but they had talked before and she seemed nice if a little bit of a goody-two-shoes. She looked very elegant today. "Hey there, beautiful," he said, raising her hand to his lips. "Shall we dance?" he asked, making the simple question sound playful and enticing. He didn’t know if she recognised him, but he smiled at her and wondered what her reaction would be. He liked throwing girls off their guard.
((I'm finally here Maria, please forgive me for posting so late))

Cas nearly answered Pyro, but stopped herself just in time. " No way am I going to do that. But you nearly had me. You seem to be enjoying yourself, so I have apparently accomplished my task of you enjoying yourself this evening. It didn't look like it had been that great a day for you until I got here. Thank goodness for me, huh?"
She grabbed his hand, and looked down at, very surprised she had done that. " Let's go get some punch," she said this very awckwardly," We should also mingle a little. Don't you agree?"

Mia looked at the stage as her brown eyes sparkled under the mask. She barely knew anyone that was at the party. Trying to find her friends but couldn’t spot them. Giving up hope she looked down at her dress and wondered if it was a little too much. At first she was just wearing a turtle neck and long jean skirt but now this elegant ball dress. The dress seemed to not match her personality at the moment and she was not used to wearing such dresses. Back at home, in the muggle world , she would just wear a nice pair of jeans and tee shirt to work in the stables. Mia lived in London with her older sister and grand father. Just last year her mother had died over the summer trying to rescue a horse. Mia closed her eyes as she remembered that night. The rain was purring and the shrill of the horse in the back trailer. Than a tree came down in their path and sent the car over a cliff. Mia could hear the horse shrill in her ears and the frighten look on her moms face. Just than she was pulled back into reality as a younger girl sat next to her. Looking at her carefully she smiled as it was Katie Robbins a fellow hufflepuff fifth year. Straighten out her dress Mia looked at the girl and smiled as she recognized her. "Well I am glad you noticed me. I was just about to give up hope but I guess I wont now. So how have you been Katie? We haven’t talked in a while." Mia asked trying to cross her legs but didn’t quite work. Sighing she just decided not to bother with it. Her brown eyes looked up at the stage as everyone was singing and the music filled the room. She really wasn’t much of a dancer but tried. Tapping her foot on the ground to the beat she hummed along with the tone. Closing her eyes she just listened the music as it took her away. As her eyes were still closed she felt some one take her hand. Opening her eyes she looked up at the boy who seemed to know her. A warm smile came to her face as she noticed it was Robin. The two weren’t exactly friends but were in the same year and house and were on the Quidditch team. Mia felt happy that Gryffindor won the last match. Thanks to the wonderful beaters from keeping those buldgers off of them and of course the seeker. "I would love to dance." she said standing up from her chair but stopped to look at Katie, "Katie I will be back soon." Mia said to her friend and looked Robin right in the eyes. "Well I guess you well have to do as my charming prince." She said with a playful smile and walked out to the dance flour. ((Don't worry Robin its quite alright. ))

"Will have to do?" said Robin in a charming voice, pulling Maria towards him and then twirling her across the room and onto his arm, then looking at her with a mischievous glint in his eyes. "You’re going to enjoy dancing with me so much you’re not gonna want to leave the dance floor all night love" he said, and then draped her across his leg. The people in the room singing were now singing a song with a fast heartbeat and that suited Robin's intentions perfectly. Robin was quite a skilled dancer. He hadn't really thought he would ever like dancing when he first started learning it, but he had grown to love it, feeling it to be such a lovely outlet for expressing oneself, and of course he was a lover of all kinds of music especially modern so he had a lot of fun learning quite a lot of different dances that had been invented according to the type of music that people danced to.
Lifting Maria back up, he started steering her around the room, dancing with her exuberantly and trying to find out the moves she liked best, switching between those and the ones he liked. After he felt her start to breathe a bit more quickly, he slowed down, as did the rhythm of the song they were dancing to. He started swaying lightly with the music, happy the pace had slowed down so he and Maria could start talking with each other. They had been seven years together and he hardly knew anything about her. He leaned in next to her ear and said softly, "So, you have anything to say about my dancing Mia?"

Maria was taken off guard when Robin started to dance with her. He spun her around and she smiled and closed her eyes letting Robin move her around. Maria didn’t really take dance lessons but danced from her heart. The music than grew faster and louder and she danced faster. After she heard his comment and smiled playfully. "Well let’s see about that." Mia said in a clam voice as Robin said she wouldn’t leave the dance flour. But she had to attempt he was quite charming and a big flirt. Mia had never been around a boy like Robin and she just though the was different from he rest. He was more him self and never tired to be some one else. Most boys around Mia would always act more manly and some just avoided her. She hated that and just spent more time with her friends. Her hair was coming down slightly from its bun. She didnt bother to move a strand from her face but continued on dancing to the music.
Continuing to dance fast around the room she started to breathe a little. Mia wasn’t used to dancing this fast but she liked it and was used to her legs aching after she went horseback riding. As Robin slowed down she smiled and opened her eyes and looked him right in the eyes. Her brown eyes sparkled more than ever and she smiled as her whispered in her ear. Her breathe caught short but than she let it out and looked him right in the eyes again. "Yes you are quite a good dancer but for me I need a little more work." Mia said in a sort of airy tone. Taking a deep breath she felt her checks grow a little warm. "Well I never actually talked to you before. I seem to be to busy always studying and with my friends to notice any guys and your different from the rest. That’s a good thing...” Mia said swaying her hips to the music and almost asking to go faster.

Robin was glad to see Maria was having a good time. He was too, and it had been such a long time since he had allowed himself to just relax and enjoy himself with someone, especially a girl. Not that he wasn't a natural and spontaneous person; it was just that he was a little more cautious around the other sex nowadays. He kept his emotions under check when he was around them to avoid the heart trouble he was so sure would ensue as a result if he didn’t do so. She looked quite charming with her hair covering part of her face, and he liked it that she didn’t immediately try and make sure she was neat and put it back in its place. Robin very much appreciated people who were just themselves and didn’t give themselves airs and graces, people who just said what they thought and meant without being blunt or hurting anyone on purpose. He was that way himself, and couldn’t be any other way. He relaxed and began to open up a little as they continued to dance.
He grinned as Maria told him he was different from the other guys she knew. "You know Maria, so are you. I'll have to admit, I thought you were one of those girls who do nothing except study and spend their time in the library, you know, never take a break." Robin twirled her around, and then slipped his hand around her waist again, smiling and continuing. "But I see that I was quite wrong. You’re a decent Quidditch player and dancer as well. What? You need a little more work?" he said raising one eyebrow. "Well, I'm here and at your service my lady. Beautiful as you are I simply cannot refuse your request," he said, moving her to the centre of the floor. "So, who are your friends at Hogwarts?" he said, raising his voice so she could hear him over the music.

Maria looked up at Robin and stopped swaying her hips. A smile formed on her face as he admitted his very own thoughts, another thing Maria liked about him already. Some boys would hide their emotions from the world to not to not seem like babies, but that what a girl loved about a man. A girl needs are quite different from men. They would want to know what was on their boy friends mind and loved it when they would just tell them. But at times emotions had to be put last and could really hurt some one, but that was the cost of love, and no one said it was a fun ride. At the moment Maria seemed to be sucking into Robin’s charm. "Well I used to be like that at one time. But you know people change." she said looking off into the distance. People were dancing and others were talking in large groups. Maria had to admit this was quite a good party and she was having a great time.
Just than Maria felt Robin steer her towards the middle of the dance floor. The music than became fast again and she took a deep breath ready for some more work. Her brown eyes sparkled more under her mask as she decided to have a good time. Twirling Robin around she laughed softly and all she could do was smile. But her hair was getting so annoying right now. Shaking her head lightly her brown hair flowed down from its bun and landed on her shoulders. Moving her head again to move some strands away from her eyes she grinned and was ready to dance again.
Swaying her hips to the right and left she looked up at Robin as her asked her who was her friends here at Hogwarts. Looking him right in the eye she smiled and let the question run through her head. Maria wasn’t a popular student at Hogwarts but everyone seemed to know her. Her true friends loved her for always being there for them and helping them through the rough time. Maria was a loyal friend and would do anything to protect them, if it even meant to jump in front of a speeding bullet. "Well I like to get in touch with some of the younger students here. I made friends with third years and fifth years and some sixth. But my best friend is Elina Hill and Ravenclaw sixth year. She was supposed to be here but I think she left because she felt a little overwhelmed with he large crowds. Who are your friends if you don’t mind me asking?" Mia said and wrapped her arms around his neck as a slow song came up.

Listening to D.J., Justin grinned as she stepped through the door again. Her new attire was still dressy, but it looked a bit better than the dress from befor. He watched D.J. put her hair into a ponytail, then looked around at all the other people in the room. There were quite a few girls, not so many guys, but that was usually how all the parties at Hogwarts were. Hearing D.j., he thought for a second, then said, " Okay, I'm ready to sing, but first, those two have to sing." again, he indicated the two girls on the stage, suspecting that the taller one was Dana Coran, but that just a guess, it could be another girl that sounded just like her.
Not thinking, Justin grabbed D.J.'s hand and led her onto the dance floor, waiting for tthe two 'strangers' to start singing. He glaced around apprehensively, wondering if he would make a complete fool of himself on the floor. He was'nt the best dancer after all, but, who knows, he could end up making himself look completely and totally awesome. Then again that was all just speculation. He took a deep breath and said, " Well wanna dance?"

D.J. smiled, thinking this over. To dance, or not to dance, that was the question. Well, there was the possibility that D.J. did say, yeah sure let's dance! And then if that happened, then she would actually have to dance, and she wasn't good at dancing...she sang, and photographed. She didn't dance. Then again, if she declined his offer she might be missing something, and she didn't want that. So she slowly nodded her head but, not before saying, "Can't dance, though. So if I break a few toes, sorry in advance." She laughed lightly and looked down at her feet. D.J. looked back up and grinned.

"Not at all," said Robin. "I asked you first so it's only fair that you get to ask me too," he said. "I like hanging out with the younger students at school too. I mean sure I like hanging out with people our age and everything but I don't mind spending time with third years sometimes. My brother and sister are 9 and 10 and we're a real team me and them although I'm much older. I like being the big brother though, they seem to think everything I do is cool and look up to me no end. I'm sorry we're never going to get to be together at Hogwarts at the same time. Anyway, well back to my friends. There's Lee Jordan, we became friends this year after George and Fred left. Also the Strathclyde sisters Dorian and Evan are both friends of mine, Dorian helps me with my studies sometimes and I help her with telling her when she needs to take a break," he said with a grin. "Of course I'm friends with everyone on the Quidditch team as well, Nasser and all the others."
The girls had stopped singing. Soft music could now be heard in the background, it was the music of a dance Robin hadn’t danced in a while, one with a slow, relaxing tempo. Maria moved closer to Robin and placed her arms around his neck. He felt himself stiffen for a moment and then he relaxed. It didn’t mean anything; the girl had just met him. It was conceited of him to think she was thinking of him that way and he should stop being so paranoid. Maria was a nice girl, and they should just enjoy the evening learning about each other, just like him she probably just wanted to make a new friend. He leaned his cheek against her hair and put his arms around her back. "Hmm… been a while since I danced to this," he said, not having to speak very loudly now they were so close. "So, speaking of family and siblings, are you an only child? I've never noticed any Flemings at school besides you," he said.

Maria closed her eyes as the music dynamic level dropped from Forteimiso to Pianissimo. Jasmine had been training Maria in how to read music. It was getting quite annoying since the fact that Jazz was a Ravenclaw and always loved to study, Mia did too but not as much as her friend. It was like her world revolved around it and she did not understand Jasmine at all sometimes. As Robins shoulders started to stiff she felt like she had done something wrong. Mia really hoped that Robin did not get the impression that she was taking it to fast. Mia was just simply being herself, and really wanted to get to know Robin. Her mind had so many questions to ask him, that it could probably take days to get them all answered. He was so different from other guys that it made Mia wonder more about him. She had given up on liking boys when her depression came her way. Her mother had died just a summer ago and was still very sad about it. The only thing that she loved more than anything on earth was taken away, and never to return.
Robin than came down to her level and pressed his check against the side of her head and she felt more relaxed than ever. She never danced with another boy before and to tell the truth she kind of liked it. It was something different than just dancing far away; it was like a way in which you could talk without having to saying anything loudly. Just quiet whispers that seemed to tingle her ears. As he asked about her family she froze. Taking a deep breath she tired to tell Robin about her family but it seemed the wrong question to ask. "I live with my older sister Lou and my grand father. My dad I really don’t know him all that well. For my mother she died just last year in a car accident. Some times at night I well cry and wonder why I didn't die? Is there something that special about me that life decided to give me a second chance?" Mia said looking over Robin's shoulder and off at the corner of the room.
Her brown eyes stung with tears but she fought to keep them back. Taking a deep breath she continued on, "For my sister...... I can't really say anything about her but iresoinsple. Just because my dad left the family did not mean she had to leave me alone, and now she comes back and I barely know her. Lou gets drunk almost every night and now she is getting married next month. But another twist is that she pregnant. At first I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, and than got angry. For crying out loud the women can not take care of that child. I would give her two hours before Lou tries to kill herself. So you are lucky to have such great family and younger siblings who look up to you. For me I have nothing but my mom and grand pa." She said trying to smile but it was faint. Robin was the second person to know about her sister situation, but she could trust him. Even know they just met there was something about him that made her feel she known him for a long time.

Rayne laughed as Dana pulled her onstage. "I only know one song really I'm not sure if you'll know it though. It's called In The End by Linkin Park it's a muggle band do you know it?" She asked hoping that Dana did as it was her favorite song in the entire world.

Pyro grined as he saw her nearly answer his question. He silently groaned when she caught her herself."Had to give it a try" he said in a inocent voice." and yes, I had been having a rather rotten day."
he let her grab him and lead him off the floor. "sure, punch sounds good...but mingling?"
